Alibaba's New AI Glasses Let You Pay, Navigate, And More

Alibaba unveiled its first AI-powered smart glasses at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, according to the South China Morning Post. Alibaba has completed development of its Quark AI smart glasses and plans to launch them later this year. The device marks the company’s debut in the smart glasses market. The device uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 chip and dual operating systems for real-time interaction with Alibaba’s ecosystem. Users can make payments, check prices, and navigate using QR codes. The Chinese tech giant designed its AI glasses to address battery and AI limitations, with a thinner build and a focus on becoming the leading form of wearable intelligence. Alibaba shares are up 42% year-to-date, boosted by Goldman Sachs’s $1 billion investment, making it the company’s largest institutional shareholder.
