If you're a fan of Qi Charging then you're going to absolutely love the new MIPOW Power Cube X2 5000, a sleek and elegant battery charger that's chic in anyone's hand. With a built-in lightning cable and Qi charging directly on the front of the unit, the X2 is also quite flexible too. Not enough? There's a secret USB-3.0 plug if you want to bring your own wire too.
But there's a problem with the MIPOW Power Cube X2 5000 you'll want to know about before you buy one, as tech expert Dave Taylor of https://www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ explains in this video review...

A portable wireless charger? Let's check this out
0:10
Dave Taylor here, and I'm looking at this. This is the Meepow PowerCube X2 with built-in MFI certified lightning cable and wireless
0:19
G charging right there on the front. Now, here's the puzzle. Why do they call it a power cube
0:25
This is clearly a long way from being a cube. This is a beautiful sleek piece of hardware
0:31
Now, even the finish is really nice. The back is an aluminum alloy
0:35
And the front is a UV-coated polycarbon. It has a really nice feel to it
0:40
It's about 5.7 by 2.8 inches and 5.8 ounces with its 5,000 milanph hour capacity battery
0:49
So let's talk about the battery, right? That's what this thing does. Now, here's the bad news
0:54
The bad news is it doesn't push out a lot of power. It's a one amp or five watt wireless charger
1:00
So that means when I plugged in my handy iPhone 10S into the lightning connector, it did pretty well
1:08
Let me see, there we go. It's plugged in. It did pretty well. It charged about 38% an hour
1:14
But then I took my Google Pixel 3xl and I put that on the wireless charging part
1:20
And it was just not a very happy little camper. It only got an 18% charge
1:26
in an hour on the wireless charging. And then I thought, hmm, I wonder if that's something to do with the Google Pixel itself
1:33
So then I did the last combination and I said let put my iPhone 10S on the wireless charging spot And that gave me 20 an hour so not a huge improvement but still a little bit better than the pixel
1:47
But here's the thing is that, to be totally honest, I really like Chi wireless charging, but it's kind of gimmicky
1:54
And for the most part, it's not as fast as charging when you actually plug in your device
1:58
Now, Google does sell a pixel charger, which is a wireless Chi charger that's tuned specifically for this phone
2:07
And that charge is pretty fast, but that's putting out a lot more than 5 watts on the little cheese spot
2:13
So that's sort of the trade-off, you know, nice built-in lightning connector
2:17
It's a really nice heavy-duty cable. They did a great job with that. And hidden underneath it is a USB3.0 port so you can plug in any wire you want
2:27
So if I really wanted to, I could have a USBC plug in there, plug in on the end of my pixel, and I could charge a lot faster
2:35
Now, my expectation is the division is that you're going to have like your phone charging and then maybe you're going to have your air parts plugged in here and they'll be charging simultaneously
2:47
So it's kind of a neat idea. But, you know, the more I look at these wireless chargers and as portable charging, the more I feel like that's probably not the right solution
2:56
But if that's something you really like, this is a really slick implementation
3:00
They've done a lot right. And, you know, as you can see in this close up, they have a little four LED indicator that shows charge
3:09
And you basically just, I just wipe my hand over the front of the device
3:13
And then it brings up the light Now the light that way more cool is there a little crosshair light that shows you the sweet spot for the chi charging And I look it and it looks like especially in the
3:25
dark, it looks like it's just a little tiny star. It's a really nice looking little indicator
3:31
way better than just a dot, which everyone else does. So special props to me, pal, for that. That
3:37
indicator light's really cool. So not much else to talk about. I've given you the basic specs and
3:43
parameters. I've talked about how it actually works with charging. It does come with the USBC cable in
3:49
here. So how do you charge it? That's a good question. I'm glad you asked. So the only other thing I
3:54
didn't talk about is how to actually charge the charger. And that took me a little while to figure out
4:00
There's a USBC port on the side here and you use the USBC cable. You plug it into any charger you
4:08
want. It has the little indicator lights. It will show you when it's fully charged. And that
4:13
that's all you got to do. So you plug it in via USBC and you charge it. You can even charge it off of your
4:18
computer. And now you have 5,000 milliamps, which is more than the battery of either of these two phones
4:25
So you have 5,000 milanps that you can charge wirelessly if that's your thing. Or you can plug in and
4:30
charge via the built-in lightning cable or you can use the USB3.0 and plug in your own cable. So those are
4:38
your options. Now, before I get to the price, which is slightly complicated, let me ask if you can go
4:43
and click on that subscribe link. Really appreciate when you subscribe to my channel
4:47
And while we're having this conversation, let me know, do you like wireless charging
4:52
Is Chi charging your big thing or do you find it gimmicky and you end up plugging in your phone anyway or your devices to be able to charge them So I curious what that like for you So having said that this is the MiPau
5:05
PowerCube X2 with MFI certified lightning connector and Chi charging. They're both certified. And
5:12
it is available in white or black or they have this sort of half and half black and white. Very
5:18
attractive. All of these actually are really nicely done. This is what I like to see with a plastic
5:24
It gets shiny. It has a nice hand feel and everything. Okay, Mi-Pow, PowerCube X2, 5,000 is 7598. But if you go check out their website, they're running all sorts of promos because it's a new product. So you might be able to get it a whole heck of a lot cheaper. When I recorded this video, the price for this particular product was 4598 at meepow.com. So I say check it out. Good luck to you. It's a very nice. It's a very elegant look
5:54
and very elegant feeling wireless charger. And if that's your thing, then, you know
6:00
built-in lightning connector is a win. 5,000 mill-amp hours is a win
6:04
Wireless charging, if that's your thing and you like it, then I don't know, maybe this is going to be the one for you
6:10
So with that, I am going to try to finish charging my phone, which means I'll catch you in my next video
