There's lots to like with these ANC earbuds

Let's check them out. Dave Taylor here and I'm checking out these

These are the Sound Pete's Air 3 Pro Wireless earbuds featuring hybrid ANC and Bluetooth 5.2

Now, there's a lot of cool things about them. But let's start with a close-up so you can see what the earbuds look like

because they have that very distinctive design with the actual earpiece coming down so that you end up getting that microphone closer and pointing to your mouth

Now, it might not seem like it makes a difference, but it really does

I'll do a demo in just a minute. But first, let's talk about the tech

So 12mm drivers featuring what they say are biological carbon fiber composite diaphragms

I don't know what the heck that is, but biological. So I'm not sure what's in these earbuds, but they do sound really good, so that's positive

Hybrid ANC up to 35 decibels of sound reduction, and they worked really well

My standard ANC test is I turn on a floor fan, and then I put the earbuds into ANC mode and see what happens

Now, on the very best ANC, that floor fan just vanishes. The sound just goes away

These are not quite there, but they're really close. The floor fan goes from being like this loud to being just barely noticeable

And if I play music over it, it essentially vanishes, which is really nice

And that's really the purpose you want for ANC. So, like I said, Bluetooth 5.2, the very latest generation of Bluetooth

which gives you a lot more reliability. So you don't have the situation where one ear forgets the other ear

or you end up with like two devices that you have to pair. and then it has to figure it out in software

All of that's hidden from you. Really nice. Now, one of the other cool things is it features APTX Adaptive

which is really nice. So that means you're going to get the best possible sound

It's a big codex. So it gives a lot of data from the music or audio source

to the earbuds, giving you a fuller, richer sound. Now, the adaptive also gives you a low latency mode

They call game mode, and that gets your latency down to 60. milliseconds So I found even without that enabled that these were sufficiently in sync that I didn notice any latency issues if I was watching YouTube or TikTok or something But if you playing a game hundreds of a millisecond could make a difference So putting these in game mode when you going to be gaming can make that big difference of hearing sounds immediately as they triggered and being able to react that much quicker Nice Now it probably does affect battery life just a little bit but we get to battery life in just a second The microphones on this are actually powered by the Qualcomm 3046 chip

and they run CVC 8.0, which is an environmental noise cancellation system. So when I put this in my ear

it's not going to just pick up all the sound around me. It's actually going to focus and try to just pick up the

sound of my voice, which makes a difference. You can also use it in single earbud mode. So if I need

to charge this one in the case, and here's a close-up of what that looks like, then I can use the

other earbud independently, and then I can switch them. So if I use just one, either one

it works fine, and it gives you the full sound out of that single earbud. But as soon as you put

both of them in, it switches automatically to stereo mode. Pretty sweet. Now, six hours listening

on a single earbud. Three more charges in the case gives you, yes, 24 hours, theoretically

of listening. And let me put this in here. And it charges via USBC on the bottom. Straightforward. No

wireless charging. Not sure that really actually matters. So let's look in the box real quick

So it comes in a nice package. And in the box are instructions. Those are important. And I'll come back

telling you why that's so important in just a second. But really, other than the earbuds

everything comes in this little tiny box. So if I open the box, you'll see that there are

let's see if I can get everything to come out of here. Here we go. So there are two different sizes

of ear tips, plus the ones that I already have. So that gives you three different sizes. That's

super important. Take the time to test out different sizes with your favorite music

And you'll see there's a lot of difference. You get a lot more base when you actually have them fit properly

Also comes with a USBA to USBC charging cable. Obviously that's pretty important too

So let me clean all this up real quick. It's the world's fastest unboxing

because there's just not a lot here because they don't really need to include a lot

So there's no like portable travel case or anything. I mean, that's what this is, right

That's a tiny, super light little case. really very nice to work with

And I will, let's see, close this up, put it back in here

show you the other side, so you can see this dude who is blissing out

And let's see. So what we should also talk about is the touch controls

So if you look at these earbuds, they have a sort of logo on the edge

That actually a touch sensor And as you can see in this cheat sheet there a lot of touch sequences There like single and double taps There how long you hold it

Notable is that there's no previous track option. You can do next track, but not previous track

Now, to be fair, I don't really do previous track ever. When I'm listening to music or a playlist, the most common interaction I have with it is not a big fan of this song

Let's go to the next one. You know, so super easy to work with

They're also IPX4 water resistant. So, all of that great stuff, right

What I want to do is I want to show you the Sound Pete's app, which is actually pretty rudimentary

There's not a whole lot exciting about it, but I'll show it to you

So I'm going to put the earbuds in. I'm going to show you the app

Let's see, I think I'm doing this wrong. There we go. And you can see

So it's showing me the battery charge and everything, but if I go to settings, now I can adjust the volume, not super interesting, but I can turn on adaptive EQ, which actually lets you sort of modify your EQ settings based on your actual hearing. That's always a nice thing. And there's also a ton of presets. So I'm going to choose fashionable because, hey, who doesn't want to have fashionable music, right

But you can also do a custom equalizer if you prefer. You can fine tune it and say

I just really like that frequency of sound and I don't care about anything else

I'm going to switch it back because I'm sure fashionable is better than that

And you can switch ANC mode so I can go into transparency mode

And now I heard a voice and it said pass through. And if I go back to ANC

ANC on. So that's all great. Here's how you can turn on game mode to lower that latency

So that's pretty much everything you get with this. It also gives you the ability to upgrade the firmware in the earbuds

Super important. When I got these out of the box, it immediately said, hey, there's a firmware update

Let me go ahead and apply it. So make sure you keep up to date because things get fixed

But now what I want to do is I want to go into, let's see, voice memos

And we're going to cancel all of this. Let's see, go back to here

Where am I here? I don't want a new folder. Hang on just a second

Here we go. Okay. So now I'm in voice memos, and I'm going to go ahead and let you hear its microphone

So what you actually hearing right now is the microphones on the Air 3 Pro picking up my voice rather than this microphone that I have clipped to my best As you can hear it does an entirely credible job In fact it sounds really good

And this is gonna work really well for phone calls, or if you're on a Zoom call or Microsoft Teams

or anything like that. These will work perfectly well for that sort of situation

So really nice. Now, let me go ahead and pause this. Now we're back here

And I've shown you everything I can about these. The only thing we need to talk about

is the price. You're correct when you probably were saying to the screen. The price. What about the price

What do they sound like? The answer is they sound really good

I was really impressed, actually. When I got this all hooked up correctly and I went and turned on that EQ, that fashionable EQ worked really well with my music

and it gave me a really big, rich sound with a nice sound stage

The highs were very enjoyable. The whole sound was actually a very pleasant reproduction

So the bass was definitely there, but it wasn't bass heavy, which I don't like so much

And it did a really nice job. I typically listen to jazz or electronica or classic rock or something, and all of that sounded really good

So lots to like with the sound. So how about that price
