Hey guys, welcome back to the channel.
0:18
Today we're going to be taking a look at
0:21
this new Fire Maple Titanium
0:24
Remote Stove. And I'm going to be
0:27
showing this to you, doing a little
0:29
testing with it, and comparing it to my
0:31
old Fire Maple Stove, which really isn't
0:34
that old. It's about a year old, but
0:36
I've been using it out while camping.
0:38
And then I got this new remote stove,
0:40
and for me, I think this could be a
0:43
pretty cool upgrade. And it's definitely
0:46
something different on the market if you
0:48
haven't seen the stove yet. So, let's
0:50
take a look at it and see how it
0:52
compares to the other Fire Maple Stove
0:55
that I reviewed about a year ago. So,
0:58
about a year ago, um, or more, I got
1:01
this Fire Maple stove. This is the
1:03
Raptor.
1:05
Um, it is a titanium stove. uh does not
1:09
have a PO igniter, but what was nice
1:12
about this particular stove is how it
1:14
integrated with the petrol pot um which
1:17
is an aluminum pot. And let me pull that
1:20
out and show that to you. So, this is
1:22
the petrol pot. Um you've probably seen
1:25
the review video I did of this and I've
1:28
also used it um in uh some of my more
1:31
recent camping trips. Um, it's a really
1:33
nice stove and what's cool about it is
1:36
it has this um, heat exchange fins on
1:39
the bottom and then the Hornet stove
1:42
integrates to the bottom
1:46
of the pot. So, it really is a very
1:49
stable
1:51
stove system for camping and
1:53
backpacking. Um, and I love it. But the
1:56
one thing with any of these canister
1:58
stoves is that once you put the canister
2:00
on the bottom of this thing, the whole
2:01
system becomes very tall and uh you know
2:05
when you have a pot full of water and
2:07
it's sitting you know 3 4 in off the
2:11
ground um you really have to be careful
2:13
with stability. You have to have it on a
2:15
good flat stable surface. um you know it
2:18
can become tippy even though it is
2:20
integrated with the uh the pot and the
2:24
legs or the arms of the stove. Great
2:28
system, but that is the the probably the
2:31
biggest downfall. Now the other thing
2:32
about this uh little Hornet stove is
2:35
this thing will boil water um under 2
2:38
minutes. It's very fast. Um and that's
2:42
what I love about it because if I want
2:43
to brew some coffee in the morning, I
2:45
want to get to it right away. I don't
2:46
want to sit there and take forever.
2:48
Plus, um, longer, you know, boil times,
2:52
you're just wasting fuel.
2:54
And of course, the fuel that we're
2:55
talking about is is the Isopro fuel
2:58
canisters. Uh, there's lots of different
3:01
brands. MSR,
3:04
uh, Jet Boil. Uh you can even get these
3:06
at Walmart, even though I've heard some
3:09
reports that the Walmart brand ones
3:11
don't perform as well as the more uh
3:14
larger name brands. I usually get the
3:17
MSRS or the Snow Peaks. Those seem to
3:19
work the best for me. Um I do have some
3:23
Jet Boil ones, too. And then of course
3:25
with the, you know, the new transfer
3:27
technology where you can actually
3:28
transfer halfused canisters into other
3:32
canisters, that really saves a lot of
3:33
time and money. Um, but uh the MSRs for
3:38
me from the money are probably the best
3:40
that I've used. And of course, they come
3:42
in a lot of different sizes. So, here's
3:43
the little MSR. This is I wonder if
3:46
there's a measurement on this thing.
3:48
Yeah, this is a 3.9 ounce net weight.
3:52
And then we have this larger one. This
3:55
is the Stern. Now, this is what you get
3:56
at Walmart. This is a net weight of 8
3:59
oz. And this is isobutane propane fuel
4:03
mix.
4:05
And the MSR is an ISO Pro
4:08
allseason fuel blend. So, I don't know
4:11
if that's a little bit different. I
4:13
imagine it probably is, and that's
4:14
probably why it performs better than the
4:16
Sterno. But this is my large Sterno can.
4:18
I haven't used this one yet. But the
4:20
large cans are nice for, of course,
4:22
longer trips. Um, you know, more
4:26
extended backpacking trips or camping
4:27
trips and you want to have a lot of fuel
4:29
and not have to worry about running out,
4:30
the bigger cans are great.
4:33
So, we have our petrol pot, which is an
4:36
aluminum pot. It has a
4:41
locking folding handle. It has a
4:44
silicone tab on the top and then this
4:46
plastic lid with uh drain holes. Works
4:49
very well.
4:51
And in this pot, um I usually like to
4:53
keep all the components I'm going to be
4:55
using for cooking. So, I've got a mini
4:58
bick lighter,
5:00
got a bandana, and then we have the new
5:04
remote stove,
5:08
and this thing fits in the pot
5:10
perfectly.
5:12
But here is where this thing, I think,
5:14
is really going to excel for me anyway
5:17
in camping and backpacking and and all
5:19
that kind of stuff. um is this remote
5:22
system allows you to uh put a variety of
5:27
different pots um and pans on this thing
5:31
and have it low to the ground uh being
5:34
more stable but then also having the
5:36
canister off to the side so it's out of
5:38
the way. Let me show you what I'm
5:40
talking about. All right, here's your
5:42
stove system. Now we have the petrol pot
5:46
and that has the cutouts for the legs
5:50
and that fits the new
5:55
system pretty well. You got to kind of
5:58
finagle it in there,
6:01
but it does fit in there. And then what
6:04
you do is you're going to connect this
6:07
to your fuel tank.
6:12
And it just screws on
6:22
and that's going to release the gas.
6:24
Now, what's cool about this is and why I
6:27
really uh was kind of gravitating
6:30
towards this remote system is that I
6:34
have a much wider and shorter uh base to
6:39
cook on. So that makes it more stable
6:41
and then I can have my pot or my um my
6:45
fuel canister off to the side and kind
6:46
of out of the way. Now you'll notice
6:48
also
6:50
that this is rotating.
6:52
So that's allows you to move this
6:54
around.
6:56
And then the cool thing is they actually
6:58
did include
7:00
a windscreen
7:02
and it's kind of a heavyduty aluminum uh
7:05
material
7:07
and you don't need much but a a
7:09
windscreen does help
7:13
with fuel efficiency and burn time. So
7:16
if you're outside and you got a windy
7:19
day, a windscreen is definitely helpful.
7:21
Now, this thing doesn't go all the way
7:23
around, and there's a reason for that is
7:24
because you don't want this thing
7:26
completely enclosed because then that um
7:28
really overheats the system, and it's
7:31
not really necessary. You want a little
7:32
bit of air flow, but just enough to cut
7:34
the wind. So, we have our our petrol
7:37
pot. It fits on there nicely. It's
7:41
stable. But the cool thing is I can take
7:43
this pot off.
7:45
And now I can add
7:47
another
7:49
pan or pot that I have.
7:52
All right. So, I put the windscreen on
7:53
the bottom of this just for safety
7:56
purposes cuz I'm on my tabletop. Um, I
7:59
don't think it's going to be an issue.
8:01
Um, these things of course do generate a
8:04
little heat towards the bottom of the
8:06
pot. Um, but not enough to ignite stuff.
8:09
I don't think that's going to be an
8:10
issue at all. So, we're going to do it
8:12
this way just to be safe.
8:15
Now, the petrol pot uh has graduated
8:17
markings on the inside.
8:20
So, that's going to allow you to measure
8:22
out
8:26
what you're using.
8:28
And I'm going to do
8:38
let's do 16 ounces. That's a lot of
8:39
water.
8:41
I would never cook with that much water
8:44
normally.
8:46
Give this some fuel.
8:56
All right.
9:01
Start that.
9:20
Okay, we are boiling
9:25
2 minutes 21 seconds.
9:36
So, 16 oz of water, which is quite a bit
9:39
of water. 2 minutes, 21 seconds.
9:43
Probably give a few seconds here or
9:44
there. I would say that's pretty darn
9:48
successful. Um, 12 oz of water or less,
9:51
that thing's going to boil even faster,
9:53
of course. And that's been my experience
9:56
with my Raptor stove that I could do
9:58
this, you know, 12 ounces uh of water
10:01
under um under two 2 minutes easily with
10:05
this stove. Now, when we're talking
10:07
about specs on this new stove, we have a
10:10
weight of 95.5
10:12
g.
10:14
Um it takes butane and propane mixture
10:17
canisters as we know. Okay, so they're
10:21
saying that this has a boil time of 1
10:23
minute
10:25
uh 48 seconds for 16 ounces of water.
10:29
And of course, I had a little bit longer
10:31
than that. Um it's pretty close. Uh you
10:35
know, conditions always matter. Now,
10:37
this is a controlled environment, so
10:39
this really should be optimal. Um, but
10:42
just to be aware, you know, we're in the
10:44
twominute mark for boiling 16 ounces of
10:47
water, which I think is admirable. Um,
10:50
I've had older stoves that didn't come
10:52
anywhere near that, and these Fire Maple
10:55
stoves do a pretty darn great job.
10:59
And one thing with these titanium stoves
11:02
and all this air space under here, these
11:05
arms are cool to the touch. And titanium
11:08
tends to cool off very quickly. It
11:10
doesn't retain heat as much as, let's
11:12
say, stainless steel. Um, even up on
11:15
this top support, I can touch that.
11:18
That's not overly hot.
11:20
Um, it's of course had a couple minutes
11:22
to cool down, but it cools down very
11:24
quickly.
11:27
All right, guys. I hope you found this
11:29
video useful. Um, Fire Maple Gear, uh,
11:33
I've been using their stuff for the past
11:35
few years. I've had a couple of their
11:37
different of their stoves and pots and
11:39
different systems and everything I've
11:41
gotten from them has worked very very
11:43
well. Um I think it's uh priced uh
11:46
pretty affordably. Um, if we go in and
11:50
we look at,
11:53
let's say, their
11:57
So, if we go in and look at, uh, the
11:59
Fire Maple website, uh, the Hornet uh,
12:01
titanium stove, which is this little
12:04
guy, is running 37.95.
12:08
Uh, and it looks like it's on sale right
12:09
now. The petrol remote uh, titanium
12:13
stove is $54.95.
12:16
The petrol pot uh is running around
12:19
$22.95. So, um I'll have links down to
12:22
this stuff uh in my Amazon store and
12:25
also the Fire Maple store, and you can
12:27
check it out. Um if you're interested in
12:30
purchasing any of these, of course, you
12:32
know, um I am an affiliate uh of Fire
12:35
Maple. I work with those guys. They send
12:37
me this stuff and I get to use it. Um
12:39
so, you know, take that uh uh when
12:42
you're thinking about this stuff. But I
12:45
try to give very honest reviews on this
12:48
gear. Um, if I didn't like this system,
12:50
I wouldn't even bother showing it. I
12:52
would have just sent it back to them or
12:54
tell them I'm not going to use it. Um, I
12:56
like this system and I'm really looking
12:58
forward to using the remote canister
13:00
stove system. Um, this winter when I
13:03
start doing some more cold weather
13:04
camping. I think it's going to be a
13:06
fantastic addition to my kit. I already
13:09
love the petrol pot. I've been using
13:11
that. Um, so I think the stove is just
13:14
it's an upgrade to this. This is a great
13:16
stove. Don't get me wrong. The Raptor is
13:18
a super nice little stove. And if you
13:20
want something that's a little bit more
13:21
compact. As always, thank you so much
13:23
for watching my videos. Please consider

13:35
we will see you next time on the
