Skullcandy has been expanding its affordable audio gear for years and the Skullcandy Hesh ANC Bluetooth Headphones have solid functionality and enjoyable sound at a budget price. Tech expert Dave Taylor checks out the Skullcandy Hesh ANC headphones and finds that there's a lot to like, from comfort to portability. He doesn't, however, figure out why they're called "Hesh" so if you know, please leave an explanation in the comments!

ANC headphones from Skull Candy
0:02
Let's check these out. Dave Taylor here, and I'm checking out these
0:14
These are the Skull Candy HESH, A&C, Bluetooth headphones. And they're pretty solid, actually
0:20
So, real quick, they fold up nice and small, which works out really well because it comes with a very nice little drawstring bag
0:28
for carrying them. It's not going to protect your headphones, but it will definitely protect them
0:33
from scratches, which is a big deal. Now, it has leather earpieces, but they're faux leather
0:41
so no animals were hurt in the making of these headphones. That's always a good thing. But let's talk
0:46
about sound. So 40mm drivers, 20 to 20,000 hertz frequency response, total harmonic distortion
0:53
of less than 3%, and a sound pressure level of 99 decibels. They get surprisingly
0:58
They are really a nice sound. 32 oms if you plug them in because it comes with a 3.5 millimeter cable
1:07
So if you don't want to use them in Bluetooth mode and they're Bluetooth 5.0
1:11
But if you don't want to do it in Bluetooth mode, you can just plug them straight into your audio source
1:17
But that also might be something you have to do when you run out of battery
1:21
But that not going to be too often because they actually run for 22 hours on battery with ANC And if you do find that you running low and it telling you running low on battery then you can plug in for 10 minutes and you will get three hours of playback Now
1:39
I do have to highlight that this is the smallest charging cable I've ever seen
1:45
USBC, USBA, you plug it in at the bottom of the earpiece and let it charge up until the tiny light and this light is barely visible
1:57
You can't see it. I know I'm not even going to say you can almost see it there
2:00
I know you can't because I plugged it in, and it took me a few minutes to find the light that showed me that it was charging
2:08
I'm not sure why they didn't use a slightly larger light, but I guess once you know where it is, not a big deal
2:14
Another cool feature of this is it has built-in tile tracking. So tile is a company that makes something like Apple Air Tags
2:23
but it's built in. So you can get the app on your phone
2:26
pair it with these headphones, and then the app will keep track of where your headphones are
2:32
So if you go and open up your computer bag or your backpack and you're like, where are my headphones
2:38
You can just open up the tile app and it'll show you the last place it saw those headphones
2:42
That's pretty cool. Also has a built-in microphone so you can take phone calls
2:47
That's always a handy feature. So let's see. I think I've covered everything here in the box
2:52
And in terms of the specs, 228 grams of weight. What we need to talk about is the sound
2:59
And I will tell you I was very impressed with the sound It has a nice big sound It a lush sound So it really sort of took me a little aback because I expected something
3:11
sort of a narrow and small field and sound stage, but it actually did a very nice job
3:19
with its musical playback. Now, having said that, I thought the ANC was only mediocre
3:26
so it gets rid of all the low frequencies in your environment
3:30
and it does a nice job with that. But if you're standing next to a music source, for example
3:35
or you're in a noisy place, then getting rid of just low frequencies
3:39
doesn't necessarily help a huge amount because you're still going to hear the high end of all of that
3:45
So I think that these have ANC, they are affordable, they aren't necessarily the best ANC in the market
3:52
but it's still going to be better than not having it. So it's something that you might need to experience
3:57
to be able to decide for yourself if these are going to be the rock star headphones for you
4:01
But all in all, very comfortable, the nice price point. I like all the stuff they include and all of the features
4:09
Let me give you a quick tour of the buttons. All the buttons are happening on the right earpiece
4:14
so that's easy to manage. And from the top, you have ANC on and off
4:19
You have a typical three button setup with volume up, volume down
4:24
next track, previous track, and then that multifunction button in the middle
4:28
that also is your power button That important to know At the very bottom you can see USBC for charging and that 3 millimeter jack I a fan of these I think these are a really nice entry ANC headphones with good
4:43
comfort and good sound reproduction. Definitely ones for you to check out
4:47
Now, let's talk about the price because that's important too. But before we get to the price, I am going to invite you to subscribe to my channel
4:56
click or tap on subscribe, hit that bell icon for notifications. Give me a thumbs up if you found this of value
5:02
found this of value and I hope you did, then that's great
5:06
Now, these are the Skull Candy Hesh, ANC, Bluetooth headphones. They come in true black, this color, and mod white, and actually the white is a pretty
5:17
sweet-looking design. Either way, it's 131.31 at Amazon.com, but there are various discounts around
5:25
You can also check out the Skull Candy website because you might find it more discounted
5:30
there with some of their promos. Either way, for about $130, these are a good option for ANC headphones
5:38
And while they might be a smidge tight on my head, I know that's going to loosen up over time
5:43
and these are going to be a good choice for headphones. That's all I got. I'll hope to catch you in my next video
