Comfy ANC headphones for around 50 bucks? Let's check these out
0:12
Oh, Dave Taylor here and I'm checking out these. These are the Mpow H17 active noise cancelling headphones
0:20
They are Bluetooth wireless, obviously, and they have full active noise cancellation at a remarkable price
0:29
Now, let's start with the drivers. 40mm neodymium drivers running Bluetooth 4.1
0:36
So it's kind of an older version of Bluetooth, but really the big improvement for Bluetooth 5 is you get a little more range
0:43
and it's better for like true wireless stereo. But since these are connected, not an issue, right
0:49
Still Bluetooth 4.1. 3.5mm wire you can plug in. So you can use these as wired headphones if you don't want to use them as Bluetooth
0:59
but you really want to use them as Bluetooth because they have crazy battery life
1:03
In fact, it features a 650 milliamp hour battery, which gives you 45 hours when fully charged
1:10
That's a lot of music listening. Not only that, but they have a quick charge feature
1:14
that if you plug it in for 10 minutes, you'll get two hours of playback
1:18
So pretty nice. It's going to be really hard for you to just have no headphone battery at all
1:24
And if you do, you plug in the wire. And in fact, it comes with that 3.5mm wire
1:30
So you can use it that way. And it also comes with micro USB for charging
1:35
Again, I'm going to take a point off there because I don't like micro USB because of the orientation
1:40
but does come with that and you can certainly get by. While we're looking at what was in the box
1:45
it also comes with a really nice soft little case. It's sort of a plastic-y material
1:50
I'm not exactly sure what it is, but it's nice. Actually, it's soft. It doesn't feel weird like a lot of the other cases do
1:57
And the headphones themselves fold up. So it all fits nice and neat
2:02
In fact, this is a really small box for you to get headphones in. So that was a bit of a surprise
2:07
Usually they're at least twice the size. So that's what's in the box and the wires and the headphones
2:14
And the headphones have a lot of controls on the sides. But before we get to that, let me tell you that it has like memory foam earpieces
2:21
They call them protein foam and they are super comfortable. In fact, these are just really comfortable on your head
2:29
because there's barely any push. So they just rest comfortably on your ear
2:34
And yeah, they sound really good. We'll come back to the sound in a second, but not quite there yet
2:40
So has a built-in microphone so you can use these for phone calls
2:44
The microphone uses what's called CVC 6.0 noise reduction. So the idea is it's supposed to cut out ambient noise
2:51
So the person on the other end hears more of you and less of your ambient sound
2:56
They work okay. It's definitely going to have to work at it if the microphone's up here and your voice is projecting that way
3:03
So there's no magic they can do, but it's functional. I don't hugely like taking phone calls on headphones
3:10
I like listening to a voice like an audio book or something. But if I'm actually on a phone call
3:15
the sort of feedback of when you're talking with earphones or headphones on is a little weird for me
3:20
So not a huge fan, but you know for you that might be really important criterion
3:26
And of course if you're listening to music and you get a call you can take quickly this will work just fine
3:31
Now no latency or lag. So if you want to use these while you're say watching a movie on your iPad
3:37
or something that works just fine. There's no out-of-sync lips or anything like that
3:42
7.7 ounces. They are super light. I mean, honestly, you will forget that you have them on
3:48
Which leads us to the most important question, which is sound. But before we get there, let me just give you a quick tour of the buttons
3:56
On the left ear is a slider switch that you slide and you get ANC and there's a big bright blue light here
4:03
So you know that it's on. Unfortunately, it does not automatically turn off if you turn off the Bluetooth on your headphones
4:09
and that's so you can also use ANC when you use them wired
4:13
But that means that right now I'm using battery even though I'm not using the headphones
4:18
So remember to turn it off and you'll be fine. On the right hand ear is the micro USB charging
4:25
but more importantly is the very standard three-button setup where it's volume up, volume down, forward, and previous track
4:32
And in the middle you have pause, play, and push to hold to turn it on or off or get it into Bluetooth pairing mode
4:39
All pretty straightforward. There's also some overloaded feature or functions for phone calls
4:44
So you can take a phone call. You can hang up a phone call all of that again right here from the ears
4:50
and they're pretty easy to work with once you orient your thumbs. I'm on both controls right now and it's really easy to work with
4:57
So about that sound. They sound really good. Actually, there's a nice bass line
5:02
They're not super clear on the higher end, but they're certainly listenable. These are like really good
5:08
I would say like, I don't know, maybe hip-hop and jazz type music
5:13
So something like classical where you want to have a little bit more refinement
5:17
or precision, not so good, but good soundstage, really nice bass. There's not much you can do to adjust them, of course
5:24
but they work perfectly well. You will enjoy them if you're like working at home
5:29
and you really want to like cut out all that background noise, turn on the active noise canceling, turn on some music
5:36
and you will just drift away in your own little world. Nothing to complain about there
5:41
So lots to like about them, but the real killer on this
5:44
the real thing that makes them so cool is the price point
5:48
because generally speaking, active noise cancelling headphones have been a couple of hundred dollars, right
5:53
They're a pretty high-end feature. So you could buy really nice headphones
5:57
but if you wanted ANC, you're going to have to add $50 to $100 to them
6:01
Well, you don't have to do that with these. These are really nice sounding. They're very comfortable
6:06
They are well-made. They have a nice build quality and they're around $50
6:12
But before I tell you exactly how much they cost, let me ask if you can subscribe to my channel
6:17
Really appreciate that. It's just that little button. Just go ahead and tap or click it and boom, we're connected. Great
6:23
Now these, as I said, are the Mpow H17 active noise cancelling headphones
6:30
and they are a remarkable $54.99 at Amazon.com. That makes these a pretty sweet deal
6:37
ANC headphones that are comfortable and have nice sound for $54. It's hard to complain about that
6:44
It's really, really a nice accessible price and you could even get these for your teenagers
6:49
if they complain that everyone's so loud, they can't do any homework
6:54
Problem solved. Without them actually having to turn the volume to 11
6:59
which is not good for their ears. So, that's all I got. I'm going to put these back on
7:03
and I will catch you in my next video. ♪♪
