Looking for a big tablet with a gorgeous screen? No need to go any further than the beautiful Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 tablet with 5G connectivity. Lots of great features, the slick Samsung S-Pen stylus, a quad-speaker design and more. All good. Except for that price tag. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 is one expensive tablet, as tech expert Dave Taylor of https://www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ explores in this demo and review.

This is definitely a sweet tablet, but is it worth the money
0:03
Let's check it out. And oh, hi, Dave Taylor here, and I suppose I should show you what I'm doing
0:16
I'm watching Austin Powers, Man of Mystery, right? So let's go ahead and pause this
0:21
I definitely don't have the rights to share it with you. And I'll bring this back to the home screen somewhat begrudgingly
0:28
But, whoops. What's happened here? No, you're not. My assistant wanted to talk to me, but I don't want to talk to her
0:36
So what is this device? This is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7-5G, and it's a really sweet tablet
0:43
It has, as you can see, a big, absolutely vivid screen. It's fast, has lots of cool capabilities, but it is a really hefty price tag
0:53
So let's start by running down the specs. It's powered by a Snapdragon 865 Pro Octocore, which has one core at 3.09 gigahertz, three cores at 2.4 gigahertz, and four cores at 1.8 gigahertz
1:10
It's a complicated processor. The screen is a vivid 11-inch screen with 120 hertz refresh rate, and it's 2560 by 1,600
1:21
So, as you can see, it just does an amazing job. It is just such a delight to look at this screen
1:28
And this has better resolution potentially than your television in a really small form factor
1:33
So you can imagine if you're sitting there watching a movie as I was, it just looks fantastic
1:39
It really looks good. Now, forward and rear facing cameras. The rear facing cameras are up here, and there's a 13 megapixel and 5 megapixel rear camera
1:50
and it can shoot at up to 4K at 30 frames per second
1:54
I'm going to give you a couple of quick demos. I didn't really have a chance to do super glamorous photography
2:00
It's kind of the state of the times, right? But here's a couple of photos, and then here's a quick video
2:06
that demonstrates that, yes, you can zoom while you're taking a video. And the front facing camera is an 8 megapixel front camera
2:15
And that does a nice job, as you can see in this selfie. It's really pretty crisp, slightly oversaturated
2:22
But still, nothing to complain about. considering and obviously for something like using this for Zoom or Skype or Microsoft meeting or something it gonna do just just fine So in terms of memory capabilities it 128 gig They have other configurations And you can drop in up to a one
2:42
terabyte microSD card for additional space. It's a lot of space for a tablet, but you might want to
2:48
have the entire Star Wars movie series on your tablet, right? How cool would that be
2:53
so the battery it's an 8,000 mill-amp hour battery which is pretty hefty now Samsung says 14 hours of use but users report a lot less maybe 10 hours maybe closer to 8 hours even that's still a lot of time and it charges on the bottom via USBC yes USBC cable and in what is it a 15 watt charger included in the box but it does mean that
3:23
You are going to be charging it every day if you're doing typical usage
3:27
Now, it does have fast charge capabilities, so you give it enough wattage in that charge cord
3:33
and it can do a 50% charge in about an hour, hour and a little bit
3:37
So if it's dying, that's a good way to give it a boost. It's running Android 10.0, Bluetooth 5.0
3:44
and one of the things I will give them huge props for is that it has four speakers on all four corners
3:51
so the sound is remarkably good for a tablet. And in fact, it has Dolby Atmos
3:58
Now, obviously, you're only going to get some limited level of audio capabilities
4:03
particularly since instead of them facing forward, they're facing sideways. So you have that inherent limitation
4:10
But if you get a case for it and you can have it at the right angle, it is an entirely watchable and enjoyable experience
4:17
which is good because there ain't no 3.5 millimeter audio jazz. So let's do a quick tour of the edges
4:24
On the right hand side, you have the typical Android power button and volume up down
4:30
And then at the lower portion of it, you have the microSD slot
4:34
On the top, you have basically just the speakers. On the left side, you have three dots for a Samsung smart charging case or external keyboard
4:45
So that's nice. You can put it on and everything just instantly ready to go
4:49
And on the bottom, you have two more speakers and the USBC charging
4:54
On the very back we already talked about the camera but here a close of what those two camera lenses and the built flash look like It does stick out and that is something worth knowing If you going to have it in a really rough environment you might really want to put it in a case to protect that And let see
5:13
one of the great features is that it does include an S pen and this is Samsung's stylus and it also
5:21
has like a magnet hold if you can get it to work right. Let's see. There we go. So there is a magnet here that
5:30
can hold the pen, which is nice, but honestly, I feel like if I just had it like this
5:37
then odds are very good that at some point I would look down and the stylus would be gone
5:42
So it's strong, but I would prefer something that clips on, or more likely in the actual case that
5:49
I would use, that it would have somewhere to store the pen. But the stylus pen is just a lovely
5:55
feel to it. So there's a button on the side, and if you haven't tried the, um
6:00
stylus pen with the Samsung systems. They've done a really great job with this. It's a really nice feel
6:08
and you can do sketches and doodles and take notes and annotate documents and stuff. All really
6:15
really cool. So there's really a lot to like about this. And as I said, you know, it is a gorgeous
6:22
gorgeous screen. In terms of dimensions, it's 9.9 inches by 6.5 inches by a 9.5 inches by a
6:30
nice, modest quarter of an inch. It is a square edge. It is not a rounded edge, which might be
6:37
something relevant, and it is 17 ounces. So it is kind of a little bit heavy. So if you are
6:45
planning on holding this for long periods of time, you might want to go and feel it. I mean
6:51
weight versus screen size, an 11-inch screen is pretty darn nice. That's really a small laptop
6:57
But it is worth knowing. So what's the... issue here? Well, there's really not an issue. This is a lovely, lovely tablet. Everything's in sync
7:06
with 5G. You don't need to worry about being on Wi-Fi. You can obviously make calls with it and
7:12
everything. So, so much to like. I wish it had that 3.5 millimeter jack, but whatever, we're living
7:18
in modern times, and we all have to get used to that. The real issue is the price. I feel like
7:24
they priced this above what it's actually worth. So let's talk about the price. But before we get there
7:30
if you can subscribe to my channel. Just a click or a tap on that red button on the lower right and boom you subscribed Great Thank you Okay This I don know why it just turned off let turn it on again I will unlock it which is a little
7:49
tricky to do sideways but there we go so this is the Samsung Galaxy tab
7:54
S7 5G and if you get it without the 5G you can pick it up for 629 at Amazon
8:01
dot com. But if you want it with 5G through AT&T, it is a whopping 84999 at ATT.com or you can pick it up with
8:12
monthly installments of 2834 a month plus the cost of that 5G service. So this is a substantial
8:20
investment. And for $850 or, all right, to be fair, $630, you really want a lot of tablet. And I'm not sure
8:31
that this has that much over the Apple iPad airline. That's a similar size, similar dimensions
8:38
better battery life, faster processor, better user experience, better integration into at least
8:44
the Apple ecosystem, if not the Windows ecosystem. If you're a huge Android fan, this is definitely
8:51
worth checking out. But again, one of the prices you pay is trying to find a good case for it
8:56
or trying to find the matching keyboard from a third party and such
9:01
Maybe not an issue, but there's so much to like about this. I really wish they would have dropped the price, or maybe they will drop the price at some point
9:09
And is it worth getting 5G? Well, 5G is sort of up and coming still
9:14
It is live, but so far in the U.S. at least, our 5G is not anything to write home about
9:21
And if you did write home about it, it would be slow. So I would suggest, unless you really, really need this to be online all by itself
9:29
that probably just the Wi-Fi model might be perfectly fine. Either way, you can check it out at Amazon.com if you want the non-5G
9:38
or ATT.com if you want the 5G version. So that was all well and good
9:45
I'm going back to Austin Powers, so I'll hope to see you in my next video
