Motorola, the company that invented cellphone technology, now has true wireless stereo earbuds, powered by Snapdragon Sound Technology. Tech expert Dave Taylor checks out the Motorola Moto Buds 600 ANC Earbuds and finds that there's a lot to like with this revolutionary technology, but a few things that were disappointing too. You'll want to watch this entire candid review prior to buying a pair for yourself!

Snapdragon powered earbuds
0:02
Let's check these out. Dave Taylor here and I'm checking out these
0:12
These are the Motorola, MotoBud's 600 ANC earbuds from Motorola, the company that basically invented the technology that makes cell phones work
0:24
Now, these are pretty slick. They have powered by 10 millimeter drivers, and they feature SNAPE
0:29
And they feature Snapdragon sound tech. Now, the Snapdragon chip is something that's probably in your smartphone
0:36
It is very much an industry standard. So it's really interesting to have Motorola try to apply it just to sound and to earbuds with mixed results
0:45
We'll get to there in a minute. Let me tell you some of the features here. So, like I said, Snapdragon sound technology, ultra-low latency, APTX and APTX adaptive
0:56
So there's lots of good specs here. And it has a six microphone ANC or active noise canceling up to a 35 decibel reduction in background noise
1:08
And then on pickup, when you're talking, it uses CBC to have environmental noise canceling or ENC voice capture
1:18
which is supposed to get rid of that background noise. I'm going to test that in just a second
1:23
Just a smidge more specs here. So the case gives you four more charges, more or less
1:29
The earbuds have about a six hour charge, and all of that is dependent on how loud you listen to the music
1:35
I found they get really loud, which is good, because you can keep the volume lower and enjoy them
1:42
and then get maximum battery life out of it. If you're running low on juice, then you can put them in the charging case, and 15 minutes will get you another 90 minutes of playback, which is great
1:52
And as you can see in this close up, there are touch controls that are right there on the Motorola logo
1:59
It makes it easy to work with. They're very comfortable. They come with three different sizes of ear tips and you really want to take the time to try different sizes to get the best possible fit Makes a big difference And built Google Assistance IPX5 water resistant and multipoint Bluetooth 5
2:19
What's multi-point? Mead you compare them simultaneously to multiple devices and then just bounce between those devices
2:26
based on which one's actually sending out a signal. So that's really good
2:31
Now, what I want to do is I want to demonstrate them. So I'm going to put them on and I already have them paired with my iPhone 14 Pro
2:39
So what I'm going to do is I'm going to actually do a recording of me talking
2:44
And halfway through that recording, we're going to actually add some crowd noise
2:51
So what's going to happen is at a certain point, it's going to sound like I'm in a loud pub
2:58
And then I'll turn that off again and you'll be able to hear, do they get rid of that back
3:04
noise or lower that background noise or not. So hold on with that pub
3:10
Now let's switch over and... What you're hearing now is you're hearing my voice
3:16
as picked up by these earbuds, the MotoBud's 600. Now there's no background noise
3:23
so this should be a best case scenario recording. But now I do have that background noise
3:29
So let me just be quiet for a second. We can see how much we can hear
3:34
And now you're hearing them trying to differentiate between my voice and that background
3:41
So what do you think? Now, let's leave that noisy area and come back to just being in quiet so you can hear the voice pickup again
3:52
So let me switch things back. And I think it does an okay job
3:59
I've had systems that do a better job of noise reduction on voice pickup
4:04
but it's certainly entirely acceptable. These are pretty darn good. What we need to talk about is we need to talk about
4:11
the actual music quality Now before we get there here is the case It comes with this sort of translucent cover Super easy to work with USBC charging and it includes a USBC to USBA charging cable And like I said
4:28
there are four more ear tips for a total of six different ones. It comes with the medium size by default
4:35
I had to step up to the larger size. And so then there's two things to talk about
4:40
Oh, and they're ultra low latency. That's important, too. want to use them while you're gaming
4:45
But the two things we need to talk about is we need to talk about the ANC and we need to talk
4:50
about the music quality. And I hate to say it, I wasn't really impressed with either
4:55
So the ANC, I was in a loud cafe, probably louder than this actually because it has its own
5:01
background music and it has everyone talking. And I just like to zone out, get into my own little sound world and just listen to as little
5:10
of that as possible while I'm playing my own music. So I was going through some old super tramp
5:15
God, love Super Tramp. And I just didn't find the A&C did that much of a job of getting rid of the background noise
5:23
What it did instead was it changed the actual oral signature of the music I was listening to
5:29
And when I was in that environment, I was like, there's not a lot of bass here
5:33
This is not a very rich sound. But then when I got into a very quiet environment and I went back to the same music
5:41
then I guess suddenly all, you know, I could be. using things like APTX and actually hearing it
5:47
And then I found them to be much better sounding. So there's a really nice sound
5:53
They're very precise. There's not a big sound stage. It's a pretty intimate sound stage
5:58
but it's a really nice reproduction. And the music really was lively
6:03
And then I switched to some Julian Lennon and such good music
6:08
And they sounded really good. So what I'm going to say is that there's like three things
6:13
we're looking at hears. We're looking at voice pickup, which I think it does a good job of
6:17
not a fantastic job, but a good job. And then A and C
6:21
which I was a little underwhelmed by and then overall music reproduction with that APTX and everything and I found that it did a pretty nice job So I going to give these like a B in terms of overall experience with them There a lot
6:36
of design they've done that's really nice and they're really easy to work with and they pair
6:41
super fast. I mean by the time you pulled them out and put them in your ears, they'll be reconnected to
6:46
your device and ready to go. And that's really what you want. So, you know, there's a, they're a really
6:52
good alternative. I would say especially if you get them as part of a promo with another device or
6:58
maybe you're buying a Motorola smartphone and it comes with these for an extra, I don't know
7:03
50 bucks or something, then that's a no-brainer addition. But at its full price, there are other
7:08
options on the market that might be better in some of those departments. So we do need to talk
7:14
about the price. But before we get to the price, I'm going to invite you to subscribe to my channel
7:20
Really appreciate when people subscribe to my channel. Gives me more reach, which gives me more leverage, which lets me get more gear
7:27
And then I can share honest and clear and candid reviews with you
7:32
Obviously, I am not shilling this product. I am giving you the straight scoop
7:37
So hopefully that's a value to use. So please go ahead and give me a like or a thumbs up
7:42
Really appreciate that. Great. These are the Motorola, Motobud's 600, ANC, earbuds and they come in wine tasting or this black I'm not sure the wine tasting
7:55
you might have to go straight to Motorola to get and they're 14999 at Motorola or
8:02
amazon.com so lots to like here and some things that you want to be aware are
8:07
before you make your purchase decision that's all I got I think I need to go back to my
8:11
super tramp so I'll have to catch you in my next video
