Super cool looking earbuds, but do they sound good
0:02
Let's check them out. Dave Taylor here, and I'm checking out the MIFO S Sport ANC earbuds
0:16
I know not the most exciting pop open, but that's how it is. They are really cool and they look fantastic
0:23
Look at that design. Some of the coolest looking earbuds I've seen in a long time
0:28
And even the earbuds themselves, as you can see in this close-up, look really cool
0:33
It's a great design. It's really, really fun. They also look good in your ear, as you can see in this close-up
0:39
But let's talk about them. So they feature balanced armature drivers that give you 20 to 20,000 hertz frequency response
0:48
and they have dynamic bass. In fact, they have really nice sound
0:52
I really like the way they sound. Powered by Bluetooth 5.2, the very latest version of Bluetooth
0:57
which means once you get them paired, one earbud isn't going to lose track of the other
1:03
but we'll come back to pairing. There were some hiccups with that along the way. I should mention it doesn't have a PtX and it doesn't have AAC
1:11
so it's using the regular Bluetooth audio signal. Still doing a good job with it
1:17
Now, each earbud has six hours of battery life, depending on volume
1:21
depending on if you have ANC on. Those will affect your battery life
1:25
And then this case has a pretty impressive six more charges on it
1:30
Need to recharge it. There's USBC on the back. It's almost completely invisible, but it's there, trust me
1:37
And they have touch controls. So you can, once you have it in your ear, and it's that little hook design
1:43
So put it in and then spin it. Actually, I think that is the wrong ear
1:48
Let's try it this way. There we go. And then you spin it forward, and it sort of hooks into your ear
1:54
which is why they're sports. so they stay in really well. And then the surface is actually a touch surface Here a cheat sheet and you can see all the different tap sequences Can be a little tricky but that how it goes Now what we need to talk about is we need to talk
2:11
about the ANC or active noise canceling because that's probably the weakest part of these earbuds
2:17
They give you 30 decibels of ANC. Now, that's pretty good if you're in a relatively quiet environment
2:25
If you're at home and you want to get rid of the hum of the fridge or the hiss of a fan or something, that'll work fine
2:33
But when I tried these in a noisy environment, that 30 decibels doesn't cut out a lot of background noise
2:40
So I would give this a middling rating on ANC. Now, it does give you three modes of ANC so you can use transparent or mild or full
2:49
And transparent, of course, is when someone starts talking to you. You can go ahead and switch into that mode instead of
2:55
taking them out and you can still hear what they're saying. Kind of helpful. Three taps
3:00
if you have no music going on, puts it into sleep ANC. And this is an interesting idea. If these
3:06
are comfortable enough for you that you can sleep in them, you can use it to have that active
3:11
noise canceling while you're sleeping. It doesn't need any audio signal to do that. Otherwise
3:16
it'll automatically turn off after just a couple of minutes. Now, they also, let me get these in the
3:22
right ears, have six microphones to give you maximal CVC noise canceling. So when you're talking to
3:30
someone on the phone, it should also help get rid of that background noise. So I'm going to go into
3:36
my Apple iPhone 6 Pro, make sure that they're paired. They look like they are. And turn on recording
3:47
And then what I'm going to do is I'm going to go into the voice recorder. and make sure again these things are tricky but what you should be hearing right now is the audio
4:01
that these earbuds are recording rather than the microphone that i have clipped to my shirt so this gives you a sense of what it would sound like to someone if you were on the phone with them Now let me stop that And we going to go ahead and stop all the recordings and everything
4:18
So I find the audio quality for voice is decent. I mean, again, it is a bit of a challenge for these because they're way over here and your voice is way over here
4:29
That's a long distance for it to be able to catch without too much environmental noise
4:34
And frankly, I've always wondered, how come they don't hear your heartbeat if it's just sitting in your ear
4:39
Let me free to think about. Now, in the box, and again, the box, the packaging, just fantastic
4:46
They did such a good job with this. This includes, let's see, there's this big box on the top of the lid
4:54
And in here, we have, oops, open it the correct way, one of the coolest-looking charging cables I've ever seen
5:04
It's USBA on one end, which is the rectangle, and then USBC on the other end, which of course is for charging the actual base
5:13
And then it comes with four sizes of ear tips. And it's really important
5:18
I say this in every earbud review, but it's really important to test and try different sizes to get the right ones
5:25
It will make a huge difference on that base response. Which means we've covered everything here, except I haven't talked about the audio quality
5:34
Now, I did say that the ANC was so-so, but the audio quality makes up for it
5:40
These sound really good. They have a big, rich sound with a lovely sound stage
5:47
The bass is definitely there. That dynamic bass does come through. I was listening to all sorts of old 1940s jazz, and it just has a real nice punch to it
5:57
And then the high ends are very pleasant to listen to. There's no tininess
6:01
There's no brightness. So I would give these a really good rating for audio reproduction
6:07
The biggest weaknesses are one I had a lot of issues with pairing these In particular I paired them with one device and then I went to pair them to a second device and that was a bit problematic I went back and
6:19
forth with the company trying to figure that out, so much so that in the description for this
6:25
video, I'm including the email directions that they sent me. Hopefully that will help someone
6:29
else. Once you get them paired, however, they sound really good. Again, the other limitation
6:36
is that the ANC is just so-so. They could do with bigger, stronger ANC
6:41
but that's the circuitry they have now, maybe the next generation. Anyway, that's everything I wanted to tell you
6:47
and huge props to them for the design. I just love this design
6:51
This is so fun. We are so drowning in a sea of mundane
6:56
white, and black electronics. Anything with the design makes me very happy
7:01
So, we need to talk about the price. But before we get to the price, I'm going to ask if you
7:06
and subscribed in my channel. Click or tap on that subscribe button. Then don't forget to turn on
7:10
notifications and we're connected. Easy enough. Cool. Well, let's see. This and this is the MIFO S Sport
7:20
ANC earbuds and they're 16999 but they're currently on sale for 14999 at Amazon.com. I say they are
7:30
definitely worth checking out. I love the design for people that are designaholics
7:36
This is actually one of the coolest looking pair of earbuds you can buy on the market
7:40
With the ANC, these aren't going to be your best friend on a loud airplane or a loud train commute
7:46
But for a lot of people, that 30 decibel ANC will probably work okay
7:51
And that really good sound is going to compensate. That's all I got. I hope to catch you in my next video
