A miniature wireless mic with a 100 foot range. Let's check this out
0:12
Dave Taylor here, and as you can see, I'm trying out a wireless mic. It works from a long way away
0:18
and it does a really nice job as you're hearing. So let me get closer and let's talk about it
0:23
Right off the bat, it works really well from a distance. I have to say, I'm impressed. I could walk all the way to the very end
0:30
of my street and still have really clean, crisp reception. That's a long way. It says it can work
0:36
up to a hundred feet line of sight. That's a long way if you think about it. And it's just these two
0:42
little units. This is the receiver and this is the transmitter. Now, I have plugged into the
0:49
transmitter, the included lavalier mic, which I just clipped to my shirt and that's what I used for the
0:54
demo. But there's more to it. Now, before we get to the other mics and such
0:59
Let me just talk about the receiver because this is something I've never seen one this small
1:04
It's pretty cool. And obviously it has a quarter inch plug. So that's unusual, but it comes with adapters
1:10
So in this case, I use the adapter for digital cameras and I plugged this 3.5 millimeter right into my digital camera system
1:20
And that's how I got that recording. As you heard, sounds great
1:24
Now, in the box, and there's a lot in this box. In the box is also another cable that looks exactly the same and seems to do exactly the same thing
1:35
but this one's designed for phones. Basically, one of them has phantom power and one of them doesn't
1:41
but you don't really need to worry about that. You just look on the tiny little tags and find the one that matches your device
1:48
And so what does it sound like? Well, I plugged it into my phone
1:52
I have an Apple, iPhone 11 Pro. I had to use the lightning adapter, not included. I had to get the lightning adapter my own one
2:01
Plug that into the lightning port Then I have a 3 millimeter jack Then I plugged this device in basically like this So we had all of this and then on the other end I used the headset
2:19
So this makes me feel like I'm in a Madonna video, but basically wrap it around your head
2:24
get the mic into the perfect position, and then you plug this into the transmitter
2:29
which, as you can see, is pretty darn tiny, so it's really nice. Now, what I realized
2:37
I haven't said all the way along here is what this is. This is the Hotech UHF wireless microphone kit
2:44
And it's pretty cool. So with this setup, I made this recording. So hang on and listen. And you'll
2:50
hear what it sounds like on my phone from about 20 feet away. This is an example of me recording
2:56
on my Apple iPhone with the wireless headset. And I am standing about 20 feet away from my phone
3:03
as I make this recording. Pretty nice. In both situations, these are two very
3:07
very different uses for a wireless microphone. And again, with a little clip on the back and everything
3:13
this is really easy to clip to your belt loop or something. And now you can do this, and you've got the microphone
3:20
and you can hook this up to really almost anything. And it's designed to be an all-in-one kit
3:27
though, like I said, I want to clarify. It does not include that lightning adapter
3:31
If you have an iPhone that only has lightning, you will need to get that adapter
3:36
But everything else is included. So it's a headset microphone. It's a Lavalier microphone. It has what they call the body pack
3:45
transmitter and this is the smallest transmitter I've ever seen and it works on 64 different frequencies
3:51
So if you're picking up interference when you're monitoring your audio, you can just switch to another frequency all between
3:58
902 and 928 megahertz as the FAA or FCC recommends. And then this receiver, this is
4:07
This is like ridiculously small. If you're plugging it into a mixing system, you might not need any adapter and that quarter inch might just go straight in and you are rocking
4:17
Now in this close you can see on the end there are some controls and both of these are rechargeable and they recharge with a micro connection which is included In fact it has a splitter so you can charge both at the same time
4:33
Pretty cool. So you charge it up, and then this will give you about four to five hours of battery life as the receiver, and this will give you four to five hours battery life as the transmitter
4:45
So this you push on. It basically shows you its status on a couple of little tiny life
4:50
lights on the top, and that's really all you do. And the transmitter's even less complicated
4:56
if you can imagine. So there's literally one button on the top, and that button is power. So you push
5:02
it, it turns on, you push and hold it, it turns off. When you turn it on, the front display illuminates
5:08
I know you probably can't see that. And then you can choose different frequencies. You can also
5:13
actually increase or decrease the volume of what it's sending. So you really never want to have it
5:20
at maximum volume because you're going to get a lot of clipping and it's going to sound bad, but you don't want it at minimum volume because obviously then no one will hear it
5:27
So you can experiment and try to figure out what exactly the perfect frequency is
5:32
Now, there is no headphone out or anything on this. So you'll plug this into whatever your audio system is
5:40
and then that will hopefully have an audio monitor plug, and then you can plug in headphones and experiment to get the right balance
5:46
I find right out of the box that it worked fine and the examples you've heard and seen all worked without me modifying the volume at all
5:55
So that's pretty cool. So four to five hours rechargeable, 64 frequencies, and let's just look in the box to see, make sure we've got through everything
6:05
So transmitter, lavalier microphone with clip and the headset microphone all ready to go
6:14
and quarter inch to 3.5 millimeter adapter number one and number two
6:20
depending on whether you're using it with things like a phone or an iPad
6:24
or whether you're using it with a camera or a DSLR, the receiver unit and the charger which is two micro USB and then there this that you can actually hook this to a more traditional microphone stand if that works And then there even a screw device here
6:44
Again, you can use it with a tripod. So it's a really nice set, and it's an extraordinarily low price
6:50
I'm very impressed with this. And when I got it, I figured, you know, it's probably going to be crackily or it's not going to work very well or it won't have very good range
6:59
But all of those things are incorrect. This is actually a really nice unit
7:03
It's a solid option if you're, for example, a yoga instructor, or you take hikes and you actually want to be able to record or you have a camera person with you
7:12
And even if you're like going and you're a young news reporter and you want to like cover things going on in your community, you have your friend with their phone using the really excellent camera on modern phones
7:25
And then you're using a wireless device like this to get really good audio so that you're not yelling and sounding really quiet with all the crowd noise
7:33
is overtaking you. Pretty fun actually and so inexpensive that this is something you can get for your
7:39
kids if they just have any desire to play around and try to move into this space and start
7:45
be doing audio or video content. So how much is it? Well before we get there let me ask if you can
