An eco-friendly Pro Trek watch from Cassio? Let's check this out
0:11
Dave Taylor here and I'm checking out this. This is the Casio ProTrek Eco-Friendly PRW 61-1A and it's pretty slick
0:22
It is made with eco-friendly biomass plastics. They are the strap, the back, a lot of
0:29
lot of the components. Now, it still has a mineral glass front and it's still a stainless steel
0:35
bezel and it's really strong and it's good to 10 bars or 330 feet underwater. So it is strong and
0:44
reliable, but they have jammed every feature I've ever seen in one of the Casio or Pro Trek
0:50
watches in this watch. So it has direction, altimeter, barometer, thermometer, thermometer
0:57
world time with 29 time zones supported, stopwatch timer, five alarms. There's a lot this watch
1:04
can do. Just as importantly, it supports multi-band six, which means that it's getting time sinks
1:11
from world time. Now, it turns out that there are a number of bases in the world that transmit
1:19
exact time. So here's that chart and you can see wherever you are, there's going to be one
1:27
within a thousand miles and you're going to get exactly the time so it only loses about 15
1:33
seconds a month if you never sink it but i find that it is sinking at least once a day which
1:40
means that it always exactly on time in fact this is probably the most accurate time piece i have but you don want to hear me talk about it You want to see it Let do a close Since I live in Colorado let start with altitude
2:02
Then let's switch to the other side. And that's our default, but there's lots more you can get
2:13
pressure, temperature. Temperature. You can save times and locations, stopwatch, timer, alarm
2:31
You can also find out when was the last time that it successfully synchronized with
2:35
world time. And you can see that was today at 12.3 a.m
2:42
So it is pretty close to in sync. Now, let me also show you what lights up
2:50
It's really easy to read this in the dark. And you can set whether you want it to light up for one second or, as I have, three seconds
2:59
And then finally, you can push and hold to get back to the default of the day and the month and the date
3:07
There's not much more to talk about after that demo. It's just really slick
3:12
I really love that it gives me the altitude. Living in Colorado, we go up in the mountains
3:18
We're always curious about, well, we have 5,000 feet, 6,000 feet, 10,000 feet, and it works up to 30,000 feet
3:26
So you could even try it when you're like in an airplane and you just taking off from the airport You can try changing or sort of continually checking your altitude to see what happens Lots of cool things Mostly what I love about it is that it solar powered
3:42
It gives me all of these features. It does that world time sync with multi-band six
3:48
So it's like having an atomic clock on your wrist. It's incredibly accurate
3:53
And it's really attractive. It's a really nice looking watch. And, of course, the bioplastics, the biomass plastic
4:00
That's just a cool additional feature. And Cassio's even working on their packaging to make sure that it's all fully recyclable
4:08
So I really commend the company for doing these important steps. So let me give you some more photos
4:15
So you can see here's the front. And here's the left side, the right side
4:23
And a lot of people like to see the back. So here's the back of the watch
4:27
Now, it does have a user replaceable battery, but if you're using it and you're outdoors and it's getting that solar hit to be able to charge the battery, you probably won't have to change the battery for many years to come, which again is great
4:44
This is one of these watches you can wear in any outdoor activity or indoor activity
4:50
You can wear this in the hot tub. You can wear this diving or surfing. If you're out mountaineering
4:57
you know, all of those scenarios, this is a great watch for that
5:01
And it's just a nice looking watch that's exactly on time. So you don't have to constantly pull out your phone to see what time it is
5:09
So it's really everything I have to say about it. It's a really nice watch
5:13
It has jumped to the top of my favorites list, and I got a lot of watches to compare
5:18
So that says something So here it is I going to go ahead and put it on And as you can see the band I really like this style It a sort of rubberized plastic band and it has a lot of
5:31
little holes so that you can get it to be just the right tightness for your wrist. And since it's not
5:38
doing any biosensors or anything, you don't need to have it super snug so it can get your heart rate
5:44
or anything. It's not an exercise watch. It's an outdoor adventure watch. So I
5:49
I have it on and it's really, really comfortable. I mean, there's just a lot to like here
5:54
The only thing we still need to talk about is the price. Now, before we get to the price, I'm going to ask if you could subscribe to my channel
6:02
Click or a tap on that subscribe button and don't forget to turn on notifications too
6:07
And we're connected. Great. Now, this is the Cassio ProTrek eco-friendly PRW 61-1A and it is $420
6:19
at casio.com. Now, if you're looking for a watch that just tells you time, it's probably
6:25
overkill. But if you want a watch that's going to be ready to go for every adventure experience
6:31
you're going to have and gives you all of this additional great data and is always exactly
6:36
on time, then it's pretty hard to go wrong with this. This is a really handsome looking watch
6:41
with a whole lot of cool functionality. That's all I got. I'm off to mountaineer myself, so I'll catch you in my
