Whether you want to make your favorite smoothie the moment you leave the gym, make baby food while on a trip, or just want to make a blended coffee drink at your desk, there's nothing quite like the BlendJet 2 Portable Blender. What the company's added is a cool new accessory, the BlendJet Orbiter Drinking Lid. It's a must-have for every BlendJet owner, as tech expert and smoothie fan Dave Taylor demonstrates in this very hands-on demo and review.

A blend jet 2 and a cool new lid. Let's check them out
0:11
Dave Taylor here and I'm checking out the BlendJet 2. Now, I've reviewed it before. I really like it
0:16
It is a portable blender and it's really straightforward and easy to work with
0:21
It has no wires. It doesn't need to be plugged in, which means you can use it in the car, in an RV
0:28
You can use it at a campsite. You can use it at the gym. Just pull it out of your bag and you're ready to go
0:34
So, features a 5-volt electric motor running at 275 RPM and a six-point stainless steel blade
0:42
And one of the cool design things they've done, I'll give you a close-up, is that the blade isn't in the center
0:48
It's off to a side so that actually helps it mix things up, which turns out to be really good
0:54
Now, it gives you about 15 blends of charge, depending on how much it has to work for a blend
1:00
We'll see how it goes with ours. And you charge it with USBC
1:04
Here's a little close-up so you can see that and the really cool button
1:09
It is essentially self-cleaning because when you're done, then all you have to do is put a drop of soap and some water in
1:15
do it about a third of the way up, and then just let it blend again
1:19
and it will actually clean everything, dump that out, give it a rinse, dump that out
1:23
and you're ready to go for your next blending and smoothie adventure. It doesn't just make smoothies because you can also make soups, baby food, dressing, sauces, frozen coffee
1:35
In fact, we are going to try a homemade frappuccino. Not sure how it's going to go
1:39
I haven't tried one before, but we have the ingredients, so hopefully we'll be able to make this successful
1:45
It is nine inches tall by three inches wide and it's about 1.3 pounds empty
1:51
And by default, it comes with this lid. And as you can see, this lid works great
1:57
And as you'll see, we're going to use it for actually making our mock frappuccino
2:03
But the problem is you can't drink through it. So Blenjet just introduced this really cool new what they call their orbiter drinking lid And it a one operation you spin it and then lo and behold there a drinking spot there
2:18
And it's nice and big. You can even put a big straw through it if you want. And then when you close it, it actually will be waterproof again
2:26
So it will be spillproof. Now, Frappuccino, I figure, what do we need for that
2:31
Well, we need some ice. So put some ice in. And the challenge is if I just do this, it won't work because the blade is going to catch the ice and it'll just immediately stop
2:42
So we need liquid, but we need liquid anyway. So what I have is I have this really good stoke iced coffee
2:49
I'll put a bunch of this in. And then I'm going to put just a little bit of half and half in because I just like that flavor
2:59
So I have some half and half here. I'm going to add this. And like I said, I haven't tried making one of these before
3:04
So this is a little bit of mad science on camera. Here's what I think is going to happen
3:09
I think I'm going to push the button and it's not going to work. And then I'm going to have to do it a couple of times
3:14
and I'll gradually have to convince it that it can do it and it can handle the ice cubes
3:19
So let's give it our first push. Oh, no, right off the bat
3:24
So I think I got the mixture of ice and coffee perfect
3:28
So it's going to run for 20 seconds. And you can hear it's gradually breaking down all those ice
3:34
cubes so should be done momentarily and what's really nice is it is cordless and I
3:44
can pick it up and obviously it is also spill-proof it's pretty liquidy so
3:50
somehow I think that we didn't get that sort of ground ice frappuccino but let's
3:55
have a look so obviously if I want to drink it straight out of the container which is
4:01
what most people do then I have to take this lid off so I can do this and..
4:06
Mmm, it's really good. It's not very crushed ice. It's much more of a sort of frappet, as it were
4:16
But what I really want to do is I really want to demonstrate the new lid So I going to put this one on and it fits the same and in fact the Blenjet 2 orbital drinking lid I guess it just the Blenjet orbiting or the Blenjet orbiter drinking lid
4:35
That's how we call it. This is also leakproof and that's very handy at one hand convenience so I can just open
4:43
it up without having to use both my hands. This is great if you're driving for example and you want to keep one hand
4:49
hand on the wheel because you want to be safe. Has a nice big opening
4:53
so it's very easy to drink. It's really quite tasty. It's pretty good mad science there
5:01
And it's compatible with both the 16 ounce and the 20 ounce jars from BlendJet
5:06
So I would say we had a pretty successful experiment here. I think next time I might have a little bit more ice
5:13
and a little bit less coffee because it's a little bit more liquid than I was hoping for
5:18
but boy, it sure tastes good. And honestly, given the cost of these ingredients
5:23
I could make 50 of these for the price of one large frappuccino at Starbucks
5:28
A whole other story. But suffice to say, the blend jet has come through like a champ
5:33
So I should also mention that it is BPA-free. And you're like, okay, I've heard plastics that don't have BPA
5:40
What is BPA? So BPA is by Spenol A. It's a chemical used for making plastic, and it turns out to be toxic
5:50
So you really want to have anything that's interacting with your food
5:54
You really want to have it be BPA-free, because you don't need even molecules of that stuff
5:59
You just want to keep toxic stuff away from your body. And Blendjet obviously agrees because this is a BPA-free plastic that they're using here
6:08
So hang on, I just got to have one more sip. Really good. Very easy to work with. Very easy to make. I mean, what, 30 seconds total
6:20
So cool Let me give you the prices But before we get to the price I going to ask if you could subscribe to my channel a click or a tap on that subscribe button go ahead and click on the icon for the bell to get notifications We connected If you found this helpful valuable informative educational entertaining then go ahead and give me a thumbs up or a like
6:41
Really appreciate when you do that. Cool. This is the BlendJet 2 portable blender
6:47
and it comes in tons of colors and designs. I have white, kind of boring, all said and done
6:53
There's so many cool colors, but be that as it may, it is 4995 at Blendjet.com. And now
7:01
the lid, this is the Blenjet Orbiter drinking lid, and it is a no-brainer additional purchase
7:09
If you're going to get a Blendjet to just add the lid as part of your purchase. It is 1795, also at Blendjet.com
7:17
Now, you do want to check my description on this video because I have a discount code that
7:22
will give you 10% off your whole purchase. That is a pretty handy thing, and it's something that will help you go and acquire one
7:30
possibly even more. I will say my daughter who does lots of yoga and drinks lots of smoothies
7:37
This is going to end up with her because she loves these sort of things. And she's already been
7:41
telling me, ooh, dad, can I have your blend yet too when you're done? So the answer is, yes
7:45
you can, but I think I need to finish this first. And it looks like it could do with maybe a
7:51
little bit more mixing. So let's give it one more push. There's the button. One more push
7:56
Oh, I should say that there's two modes here. So when I just push it, then it's
8:00
It goes into 20 seconds of blending, but I can actually do a different push sequence and then
8:06
it will go like a start stop, which can be much better for chopping up things, much more
8:12
likely that like if I'm just doing ice cubes, that's probably a better way to do it
8:15
But for now, let's just get this going. And with that happening, I will simply say I'm eager to finish this up, which means I'll
8:24
have to catch you in my next video
