An umbrella for your car? Let's check it out
0:11
Dave Taylor here, and I'm checking out something new and unusual. It's this. What is this? It's an umbrella for your car
0:18
The heck? Well, let's open it up and you'll immediately see what I'm talking about
0:23
So, it is... looks kinda like a regular umbrella, right? But, when you actually open it up, you can see that it's actually a sunshade
0:35
And it's a pretty cool idea. So, from the underneath, you can see that, basically, you open it up, push this in your windshield, and you're good to go
0:46
And, as you can see, even from the crazy lighting and stuff going on with my camera, that this is a super reflective surface
0:54
In fact, it's designed to be really, really effective for reflectivity and for heat dissipation
1:02
So, what Andebil says, this is the Andebil Windshield Sunshade. They say that this is an ice crystal nano cold reflector surface
1:13
So, the heck's that? Well, it's super reflective, it has great heat dissipation, it's extremely soft and flexible
1:22
And the umbrella itself is actually, obviously, a custom-designed umbrella style with a little button here
1:30
So, let's get this... push this open so I can get it to work
1:35
There we go. So, it's a little tiny handle you actually have to lift up to get it to open
1:42
But, once I do that, then I can push it out. And then this part is a pretty typical umbrella design with aluminum ribs, but they've really tested this out
1:54
So, these ribs, they say they've tested 20,000 times without a problem
1:59
And when fully open, this is 57 inches by 53 inches by 29 inches, and the whole thing weighs one pound
2:08
There is a little strap here, so you can simply just sort of wrap it around and do it nice and tight
2:17
And here you go, here's your car sunshade. So, there's a couple of benefits to this
2:22
One of which is there's no tedious folding and spinning and all the manipulations you have to do with other shades
2:29
It's super fast to deploy, super fast to put away. And then obviously it gets pretty small, so you can easily leave that in that little side pocket in your car door
2:39
So, you don't want me to talk about it, you want to see a demo
2:43
So, let's go out to my car. First, I'm going to show you from the outside of the car what it looks like
2:48
And here's the tip, is that the little red tab, if you have that upward, then when you open up the shield
2:56
you have the slot for your rear view mirror in the right place too
3:01
And now, all I have to do is put it in the right place and I'm done, in fact
3:06
Now, it's going to work better if I put down these little shades
3:10
but that is a very effective seal that is making my car a lot darker inside
3:18
So now, let me swing the camera around so you can see from the inside what just happened
3:23
But before I do that, let me take the shade down again
3:32
From the inside, you can see, here's the red, it's up, and I just open the whole umbrella
3:40
tuck it underneath here, put it behind my rear view mirror, and I'm done
3:46
That's about as easy as it gets. Now, I can fine-tune this fit a little bit and then put these down to give me the best possible seal
3:55
but that's a pretty easy process. Now, when I'm done, open these up, pull this down, pull down the umbrella, and I'm done
4:10
That's it. Easy enough. It's a pretty darn slick little gizmo, I have to admit
4:15
Now, it is a little bit of tedium to try to get it to go back into its little case
4:20
so you don't have to do that if you don't want to. Obviously, it's your device, you can do what you want with it
4:25
I will say that they are coming out with different sizes. This size worked great with my Mazda CX-5, which is a compact SUV
4:35
but the company tells me they're going to be coming out with a larger and a smaller size
4:40
sometime in the very near future. So, if you go and check out the Andebil website
4:45
then you can actually see what size and figure out which one you want for your particular car model
4:52
I'm a big fan. I really like it. I like the simplicity of the whole thing
4:56
This part, eh, I think I might just let that one sit in my garage
5:01
But this works really well. It's really simple. And I don't always use a car shade, but on these days when it gets crazy hot
5:10
we've had like 102, 105 degree days, something like this is going to make a world of difference on how cool your car is inside
5:19
And if you have anything in your car that shouldn't overheat, then obviously this is a huge win
5:24
So, really, the only thing left to talk about is the price. So, before we get to the price, I'm going to ask if you could subscribe to my channel
5:32
Click or tap on that subscribe button and don't forget to turn on notifications
5:36
so you know about new videos. And we're connected. Great. This, even open it up again, so you can get that full effect. Ready
5:46
Alright, this is the AndoBill Windshield Sunshade and it's $54.95, currently $39.99 at Amazon.com
6:00
Here's the other side of it, in case you're curious about that. And I'm a big fan. I think this is a great solution for your car
6:07
and easier, honestly, to work with. Once you get the hang of it, it's easier to work with than most of those other sunshades
6:12
especially when they're multiple parts. This is just super straightforward and you fold it up
6:18
and you are ready to stick it in your side pocket or down at your feet
6:22
and you're good to go. So, that's all I got. I'm going to go put this back in my car
6:26
so I'll catch you in my next video. www.rimbaracer.com
