Craigavon woman’s cuddly creatures bring new lease of life to care home residents

Co Armagh woman Catherine Hoy has created a unique way to bring joy to care home residents by introducing them to her diverse group of animals, including chickens, tortoises, chinchillas, and more. Inspired by a personal realisation in 2015, Catherine began offering pet therapy visits to care homes, starting in Plymouth. Her therapy animals have brought comfort and happiness, especially to dementia patients, creating meaningful interactions that brighten residents’ days. While her animals have a positive impact, Catherine is careful to respect those who prefer not to engage with the pets, ensuring her visits are inclusive and enjoyable for all.
