Hi! I'm Max. I am a contributor. I mostly review comics, but I also do some statue reviews for AIPT
0:15
Today I'm going to be doing an unboxing and review of this Luis Rogo's Yamato Wonder Woman PVC statue
0:29
Now, this statue, or it's more a figure, this figure is based on a much larger, not much larger, but a larger figure by Yamato that is also a Wonder Woman
0:45
This one is made of polystone. She is 1 sixth scale, I believe
0:52
And a lot of people were mad about this one when it first came out. Let me take out her
0:59
A lot of people were mad about this one when she first came out because if you look at her face, I will put a picture of her other face, of the prototype face, but if you look at her face, that is not what the prototype looks like
1:12
The prototype was much closer to the face on this one, on this PVC statue
1:18
Now, it's not a big deal for a lot of people, but the face on the prototype was really gorgeous, and the face on the production piece was not as striking
1:32
Now, I really actually like this face. I think she looks very determined, very strong and stern, but it's just not the same thing, so people were mad when they bought that statue and they got this statue
1:45
And they got this face. She has very tan skin, it's very olive, whereas on this statue she's not going to. On the prototype she didn't have very olive skin either
1:57
I think her hair kind of looks like a gorgon back here, but that's just me
2:01
So there's a lot of changes from this statue to this statue, but we will go over that later
2:09
Now, this statue is based on art by the illustrator Luis Royal
2:17
This one. If you look on the side, this is the original concept art
2:23
Now, Yamato, before they got the license for DC, Yamato mostly did sexy gothic fairies and sexy great goddesses and stuff, sometimes with removable clothing
2:42
But you know, you do you. So, when they got the DC license, they hired this illustrator Luis Royal to do the concept art
2:54
Now, most statues are based on concept art. He did the concept art for pretty much all of Yamato's DC statues
3:05
He did the concept art for Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Supergirl and Batgirl
3:15
His style is very sexy, but strong, which is why I think it works well for Yamato and well for Wonder Woman
3:23
So let's get to the unboxing portion of this. I have my trusty box cutter
3:45
This PVC statue is not as big as the polystone statue. It's much cheaper to make PVC in a smaller scale than it is to make polystone, and it's easier to get better detail
4:03
On a polystone statue, about the smallest you can get is 1-8th, 1-8th scale, but it's not going to look very good, unfortunately
4:18
Okay, so we got the plastic off. So this is her in her house
4:26
So this is the rock thing that she's underneath. As you can see, it is much smaller than the polystone one
4:38
I'm going to take her little thingies out. Than the polystone one, which kind of is like the scale within it
4:45
Now, she does come with a lot of switch-out parts. Now, she does come with a lot of switch-out parts
4:51
She comes with a lasso. I just forgot what a lasso was
4:57
She comes with a shield. If you can see here, this is the shield that the other one came with
5:04
This shield is not the same. I think this shield is based on the movie, and this shield is based on Luis Rios' art
5:12
Or maybe, I think that's closer. I don't know why this shield looks like this
5:17
Oh, she also comes with a sword. Oh, she also comes with a sword
5:28
The swords are very different, actually. I'm going to put her back in there
5:33
So, this sword has a larger, kind of, bowed tip. And they have different holts, and they're just different swords
5:46
So, kind of cool. They changed some things. So, to the statue, she is all one piece
5:56
The PVC one. This one, her arms come off. Because she would not fit in the box without her arms on
6:06
So, let me... There's just a piece of plastic. Oh, yeah. Her skirt, which is really cool
6:20
So, this Wonder Woman, she's just in a bathing suit. The classic bathing suit outfit
6:25
The PVC one... If I can get her skirt off. It looks like it should come apart
6:32
Let's see. Oh, her whole body comes apart. There we go. She's two pieces
6:39
So, the skirt comes off. The skirt can come off. And she can wear her bathing suit
6:50
Like this one. That's really cool. I really like that. Let's put her back in there
6:57
It takes a little jimmying to get her into the thing. But only this foot connects to the base
7:04
This foot does not. On this one, the same. The same is true
7:10
Now, she's in the same pose. But, when she's in the same pose, she's in a different pose
7:19
So, she's in a different pose. But, there was some discourse when this statue first came out
7:30
People didn't like this hand. If you can see, it's spayed. Kind of like she's going
7:36
The sword is right here. It's spayed so that she is going to grab it
7:43
It's a very dynamic statue in that way. A lot of people didn't like that
7:48
The hand does kind of look weird where she's just like... They changed it to the statue portion of it
7:55
Let's move her over here. This is her. If you look at her face, it's very pretty
8:05
Much closer to the original prototype of the statue. Let's move her over here
8:17
Let's compare the two faces. This is the one that has the wrong face
8:27
This one has kind of the correct face. It's not... It's just really more of a personal preference
8:36
I like this face, but this face is gorgeous too. But, some people really didn't like this face
8:42
There we go. Cool. There she is. She has a really beautiful face
8:52
My only problem with her face is that she has a little bit too much lip liner
8:58
But, you know, more power to you. Her lips are a very pretty color
9:03
Her tiara... There are some differences between these two in design. Besides the skirt, the shoes are very different
9:13
The silver right here, and this is gold, and it's got a round kneecap
9:17
It's more... This one is more comic accurate. This one is more movie accurate
9:23
So, it really just depends on what you want. This one is a very nice statue
9:31
And, for the price, it's perfect. I cannot see anything wrong with it besides the fact that some of the pieces are a little hard to get on her
9:39
But, it is a very good piece. This one is older. If you want it, it's not in stores right now, but you can probably find it online
