MUHAMMAD SADIQ is now the only surviving godfather of punjabi folk music from the era of the likes of Yamla Jatt, Kuldeep Manak, Surinder Kaur, Prakash Kaur et al……people who laid down the roots of punjabi music we so enjoy today. His songs and tunes are now bonafide classics and have been rendered by many modern day artists. He has sung with the likes of Surinder Kaur, Narinder Biba, Rajinder Rajan, Swaran Lata and of course Ranjit Kaur - with whom he duetted for over 40 years. Some of his famous songs include ‘Nigah Maarda Aayin Ve Mera Laung Gawacha’, ‘Na De Dil Pardesi Nu’, ‘Lammi Seeti Maar Mittra’, etc. He also acted in a few Punjabi films like Jatt Boys Putt Jattan De, Guddo, Patola, Jatt Jeona Morh and Tabaahi. His most famous role is of the daku Jabar Jang Singh in the original ‘Putt Jattan De’ with Dharmendra! Here he talks candidly about his singing career, his film career and his political career.
