0:06

0:13
much stuff so many things yeah so many things dude it's like this weekend needs
0:19
to end already oh yours sounds rough yeah well no not even rough just like a
0:25
lot of stuff um I did the cage Warriors this weekend so a lot of running around
0:30
a lot of training too um a lot of uh
0:36
dual bits responsibilities I know our new uh
0:41
sponsor dual bits is powering this podcast by the way no big
0:47
deal we're official we're International we get monetized we do yeah we're
0:53
International uh uh influencers so how
0:59
we [ __ ] yeah because you can't use dual vots in the UFC or in the US so sorry guys but
1:07
for all our International viewers so fancy all of our poppies yes
1:15
all of our Playboys International yes International Playboys jet heading across the world make sure you uh check
1:23
out dual bits.com for all your betting needs yeah there's uh lots of fights to
1:28
bet on so why not use them exactly um so we had a lot of stuff with that we um I
1:36
went to cage Warriors we watched fights and then you had a lot of crazy stuff
1:41
you were up to this week too right yes I wrecked myself so since I'm no longer in
1:47
the boot I um am going through this like very extensive list of activities that
1:53
I've been dying to do for the past year while I've been laid up and I've uh been
1:58
making making Headway checking checking boxes off like left and right so on
2:05
Thursday I went to a sexy floor dancing class oh where I I twerked and
2:13
thrusted bruised up my knees let's see it let's see that uh floor action I
2:20
can't I'm I'm hooked in I'm hooked in but I will I will at some point take a video of it when I get a little bit
2:25
better and a little bit less embarrassed about it but actually I was pretty I pretty impressed I was like peeking
2:31
myself in the mirror I was like you go girl okay you got to do a before and after like first day I saw this really
2:37
great video of a girl and it was like her first time being on a poll like
2:44
doing the pole dancing class and then three years later she's doing all these cool tricks and looks really like cute
2:50
and confident but the first one she it looked like a middle school dance
2:55
like she's just kind of gangling and unaware of her body like circling around the pole yeah having having fun you
3:04
could tell she was having fun but she was also seemed kind of self-conscious and then the next one she was just
3:09
oozing sexuality and confidence so you got to do a video like that it was like it was really cool it was actually I
3:16
wanted to tell you about it because it reminded me of like our little you know pull dancing stuff that we did last year
3:21
yeah uh but this hurts a lot less I mean it still hurts a little bit because you have to wear knee pads and my knee pads
3:27
weren't like exactly covering like the the inner inwards of my knees so I'm a little bit bruised not conditioned you
3:34
know haven't been getting you know inside leg kicked for a while oh oh that kind of condition that kind of knee
3:41
conditioning or the other one I got this but it was really fun because it's like dark and there's red lights and you just
3:47
get to like really connect with your inner feminine and cool super cool yeah nice I can't wait to see the video we
3:54
got to you got to show me what it look like because I'm picturing yeah
4:00
something weird no it was really really cool I'm picturing
4:06
crybabies I mean yeah there were some there were some yeah that was like the that was one of the cool Downs ah nice
4:14
that was the one clip from the sexy red video that I'm really sad didn't make its way into the final there were so
4:21
many good outakes H we've got to do an outake we've got to get that footage we have to he would give it to us right I
4:27
don't think so I'm going to [ __ ] ask I'm G to ask him Adam I think it's property of ESPN and maybe they have
4:36
like a ESPN Red ESPN X version that has all the
4:43
naughty stuff on it but basically they own all that footage huh I'm GNA ask
4:51
yeah ask use your floor persuasion get a floor routine ready
4:57
like can we please have a footage lots of hair flipping Shimmy
5:05
Shimmy yeah um yeah when and doubt Twerk it out was the motto of the dance class so yeah yeah I'm gonna just twerk my way
5:12
to success yeah I think it works for people yeah for sure look at Nicki Minaj
5:18
look at cardi bean I know yeah Megan estallion all Successful by wave twerking I mean they
5:27
French girl in the UFC yeah yeah she and uh there's been a few
5:33
Brazilian girl at weigh-ins yeah yeah uh there's been a few people who have twerked actually in their
5:40
fights oh uh Jordan um Jordan uh what's his name the the guy who did
5:49
the the guy who did the um the thing the the thing that you wanted to do with
5:55
Dirty Dancing thing oh yes yeah what is his name is Jordan in something I got to
6:00
look it up oh I don't have my phone look look up uh guy who he fought Patty piml
6:06
and Patty piml did the uh did the teabag on him I know who
6:15
you're talking talking about I can't think of his last name The Monkey King yes I know exactly who you're
6:22
talking about hold on also a successful twerker in the UFC so
6:30
definitely on to something there Jordan leave it Jordan love it yes I know
6:36
exactly what you talking picture the face good one of my favorite Fighters so I'm I'm pretty disappointed in myself
6:42
for not remembering the last name but I remember that but it happens don't feel bad don't feel
6:49
bad hate to see him go but love see him walk away to watch him anything else you get up to how did
6:56
so did that destroy you that was the thing no oh but um after that I went on
7:01
like a a Four Mile Walk with Grace around the lake cuz I haven't been able to do like you know long walks and then
7:06
um Friday I did conditioning and I lifted and then Saturday I did I played
7:14
tennis for the first time in my life oh I saw yeah um and then right afterwards I thought it would be a great idea to go
7:20
hike uh on my first hike since I've had in like a year since I've had my boot off um hike up Cal's mountain and it
7:28
ended up being like 75 degrees and it was very very steep I
7:34
don't remember it being that steep but it was kicking my butt Grace and I made it up to the top to a little break and
7:40
then like didn't your doctor say take it easy the first month you have your boot off I just got really excited and no no
7:47
no he said as long as you have your shoe and the orthotic in your shoe you can do activities okay all the activities
7:55
because it seems like you did every activity possible I did everything I I told him I feel like he said some
8:02
activities and he said activities dot dot dot he listen he said I could jump
8:08
rope I could run I can walk I can box I can do all these things as long as I
8:13
have the shoe on with the orthotic okay cool
8:18
yes and then I got home and Grace and I just like we turn on the fights and then we just kind of like dozed in and out
8:25
like all day it was we were both kind of like not in the best of shape from our long layoff well then any of the fights
8:33
uh were any of the fights good enough to wake you back up o were they ever little
8:38
peping a step oh my gosh so some of the fights were really really good I mean from top to bottom there were just um
8:45
some really compelling fights but I think I have to talk about the one that stood out to me most like just
8:52
immediately was um it was zel Herber versus prao and this stood out to me one
8:59
because PR looks like a large baby he has like really he looks like really big cheeks a um and then we have pra who's
9:08
it's uh 155 but he's like 6'1 so he like really stands out and I was like oh man
9:14
that's a long frame there's a lot of like space and open targets and he ended
9:21
up like doing really well managing his range and he started beating up uh Z Z
9:29
her her really badly and started blooding him his face his eye was was shut and what stood out to me the most
9:35
is his Corner gave him the best advice I've ever heard in a fight oh and it was to the effect of you don't need to see
9:42
just punch straight down the middle hey there you go but how do you know what straight down the middle is if you can't
9:48
see it just straight down the middle just punch in front of your nose you see you know where your noses go straight
9:54
from there I was like sir I think it's really actually really important that you be able to to see in a fight however
10:00
I mean if you're in the middle of a fight and you're damaged and you're
10:06
trying to win it you're trying to squeak out a win like that that's great advice yeah yeah because um I've been in fights
10:13
where I've been I've been injured and I didn't want to like say anything I didn't want to like bring any attention
10:18
to it when I really should have communicated like pretty sure my hand's broken hey this is thing because then
10:24
they could have given me the adjustments but yeah he he couldn't like his eye was
10:29
just was done it ended up being a decision so he made it to the end but poor guy was just bloodied up his eye
10:36
was swollen shut and it was just hands down the best Corning advice I've ever heard in my life yeah well what would
10:43
the other option be like he's not going to stop fighting no right but did he
10:49
continue to throw straight down the middle he tried I feel like the straight down the
10:55
middle is going to be off to the side a bit cuz you don't have you don't have a
11:00
well the thing that I was thinking was okay so when you when you start doing like uh target practice when you're like
11:07
shooting you're you're supposed to keep your both eyes open but it's like way better if you close your eye it actually
11:13
like directs it a little bit more but you still have to make those little adjustments because it'll be slightly off depending on which eye is closed um
11:20
so I was trying to you know just just think on that and be like you know what maybe it'll make it more precise but at
11:27
the same time that's really difficult no especially if you're used to fighting with two eyes the depth perception of
11:34
shooting especially when you first start you're like okay I've never shot before so I'm just gonna close one eye and and
11:42
that'll make me hit the target but if you're fighting and you've always fought with two eyes open might make it a
11:47
little harder it's probably really challenging to do on the Fly you throw a kick you think they're in front of you
11:53
they're actually like all the way across the cage he he did his best it was a tough
11:58
fight I think what got him in trouble honestly was he was the shorter fighter with the shorter reach and he started
12:05
just really trying to like reach with the leg kicks so he was always just
12:10
right there in range yeah you see that a lot with people I I'm I wonder um I
12:15
think it's because sometimes when your leg reach is a little longer than your arm reach you feel like kicking the leg
12:23
is the only thing you can do against the taller opponent because they're popping you every time you try to come in with
12:29
punches but then at the same time you kick that leg and you're not throwing anything behind it is really easy for
12:36
them to come straight down the pipe punch you while you're on one leg and you're just kind of a sitting Target
12:42
there if you don't hide it behind punches so it's a really easy trap for people to fall into when they're the
12:49
shorter opponent because that leg they their lead leg that's the closest thing
12:54
to you so you're like man I'm I'm I'm down on points like they keep jabbing me every time I come in I'll kick that I'll
13:01
just hit that I'll get a point by hitting that and then a lot of times if you become predictable that they can
13:07
start picking up on it timing eating the kick to punch you or even checking it and punching you at the same time so
13:14
yeah that's a it's a tough one to get around especially if you're not used to dealing with someone that size which you don't get a lot of tall people like we
13:21
have um we have a a girl we Spire who's really tall she says she's a5er we'll
13:27
see hasn't gone Pro yet but uh it's really hard to get around that range
13:33
when you're not used to dealing with someone in your weight class at that range it's just it's a totally different
13:40
game plan you kind of have to wait a bit you can't be greedy with the volume you
13:45
have to pull things out so it's it's a it's a tough thing for people to deal with but um when you say the thing about
13:53
the corner advice it made me think of that final round with uh with with
13:58
Moreno and Roy Val and I know it you can't really judge people from the
14:05
corner cam because they cut off half of the speech but one thing that stood out
14:12
between uh Roy Val and Marino Marino's Corner was saying do you want the belt back you gotta do this you gotta do like
14:19
you got to go you have to fight and there wasn't specific advice but they
14:24
were trying to Rally him they were trying to get him excited and get him pushing pass his limits and then in the
14:30
Roy V Corner they were giving him more specifics you have to throw this thing you have to throw that thing he's
14:36
looking for this so you have to do that work on this counter and I'm wondering what do you think Gets You Through a a
14:43
tough spot like a tough round like do you like the motivational kind of uh
14:49
approach or do you like more of the technical do this this and this a combination of both and that's that's
14:55
what I think too but sometimes you lean towards one more than the other I think
15:01
I need technically Sound Advice yeah I I really do I need somebody to like I'm
15:08
already aware of what's going on it's already it is I'm already thinking about the fact that I want the
15:14
belt and it's not happening I'm like help me get there I
15:20
know I'm not one in the belt right now tell me something I can use be specific there's um so
15:29
there uh I used to train with HAF Cordo and I think he is a great motivator but
15:35
he would never give exactly technically sound advice but like this man walked by
15:40
you and like you wanted to do better you just like wanted to impress him but I would see him in the corner and I'd be
15:46
like that's that that's not going to get them there it it's not and I mean you're
15:52
want to get there you're going to want to get there but you got to tell me how like it's like you know there's people like get
15:57
up thanks I would love to uh can you please be specific like give me some
16:03
technically Sound Advice um give me options because what I'm doing isn't necessarily working so help me you know
16:11
that's what the corner is there for that's what their job is um that's what I'm trusting them to do so it's just
16:17
yeah I would prefer more technically Sound Advice yeah and that's why I say you can't really judge uh what the
16:23
corners are actually saying from the corner Camp cuz they could have been saying technical technical Technical and
16:29
then the camera the UFC camera cuts to their feet and they're like and do you
16:34
want it and everyone's like we'll tell them what to do and they already did it in the first half of the of the
16:40
cornering moment but at the same time you see a lot of Corners where that's all they'll do they'll just go how bad
16:47
do you want it get in there show them how show them who you are go in there and have fun do what you know you came
16:54
here to do and it's just like waiting for instructions specific I
17:00
mean I'm I'm doing what I can I'm doing what I think I should if it's not working give me something else like
17:07
that's I that's what I need you to do for me at the same time on the other end you can have someone who's just super
17:13
dry like whenever I see uh Greg Jackson cornering and he's just like super dry
17:18
win or lose or um uh uh Trevor Whitman
17:24
super dry winner win or losing the round just like super dry I feel like that might make me feel patronized you know
17:33
like uh is that the right one or is it patronized patronized potato
17:38
po one one means you're buying something from me and other means I'm not buying what
17:45
you're saying saying saying to me but um yeah one will make me just feel like
17:51
you're just saying what I want to hear and it's pissing me off cuz you feel
17:56
like I can't deal with what's really going on on and uh like I I like to get
18:01
a little bit of emotion behind it like a little bit of urgency like hey that
18:07
round was was pretty bad but you did good things this is what
18:14
you did well we need more of that like I I like the realism but also like the enthusiasm and feeling that the corner
18:22
actually cares about what happens next and they're not just there to kind of uh you know handh hold me to whatever
18:30
happens I've always found and and it's really hard to find because um I I found
18:36
that coaches I I kind of rate how good of a coach sometimes they
18:42
are on the ability to coach different fighters in a different way different Fighters the way that they need to be
18:49
coached to bring out the best in them and there are there are some people that that just can't do that and it doesn't
18:55
mean that they're not good but there are just some really like great coaches out
19:01
there that have that ability and um it it's hard to find yeah and it's hard to
19:06
uh do that when you bounce around too um it's uh it's part of the reason why
19:12
people stay with b bad coaches for so long because they get that uh that
19:17
Superstition that they need that coach to bring out the best of them even if the coach isn't actually bringing out
19:23
the best of them youve formed these relationships and they figure out how to talk to you how to get through to you
19:28
you um and it's a it is a really hard to build type of thing so when I look at
19:34
someone like Brandon Marino I feel bad that he's had to switch coach coaches so many times because I feel like he might
19:42
have been a little better if he just found the right coach sooner and was able to stick with him and they were
19:48
able to work through all the game plan game planning and stuff together and
19:53
figure out exactly what he needed to just be the best version of himself because it it it did looked like he was
19:58
a little overwhelmed in that fight against Ral not overwhelmed but just not
20:05
as uh dominant as he usually is I I mean I was going for Moreno for the win yeah
20:13
but surprised me was I I I have to like I have to give rival credit where it's
20:19
due is he really turned it up like he created momentum for himself he was listening to his corner he was creating
20:26
more volume more angles and I think that's the best I've ever seen him you know so I mean maybe it was Brandon not
20:34
showing up the way he normally does but also ryal stepped up in a way that I hadn't seen him before in a way that
20:40
like I didn't pick him to win before yeah now we our dual bits picks were not
20:46
correct they were sorry man that's what when both underdogs win a lot of people
20:52
lose money y whoops my bad
20:58
all of her beds but um yeah Ral looked really good
21:04
in that fight um I like I wasn't sure because I kind of watched it after I saw
21:10
the results so I already had a skewed vision of what the fight was
21:16
going to look like going in but then as I'm watching the first and second round and then the third I'm like I don't know
21:22
man this Marino's doing pretty good ral's throwing a lot of volume but Marino is hitting with power he's
21:29
definitely Landing the harder shots he's stringing together those uh punches to the kick combos really nicely I think
21:37
the um I had a lot of rounds for Mareno I feel like I would have been that uh
21:42
the Japanese judge junichiro kichiro jich um scoring at
21:50
like 4946 but I can see how he got there you know I I did think it was two and
21:55
two going into the last round I felt like roal rallied he did a lot but I
22:02
just I don't know I felt like Marino just had more power in in his shots that
22:07
he was landing and it didn't feel like he was ever in trouble like he never got
22:12
hurt he never got wobbled his head never got pushed back from a punch and I felt
22:18
like most of that happened with Roy Val but he was still Landing punches and punches there was one moment where he
22:26
they both landed a huge over overand like roal landed like a step back cross and then Marino landed overhand right
22:34
before that and I wasn't sure why he was backing up but it was because Roy V
22:39
landed with way more power he came in took him down and had that little brief moment of like craziness but aside from
22:47
that it felt like Marina was doing most of the damage I he was Landing really great low kicks he was Landing really
22:55
nice overhands but it it stopped working he kept going back to that same setup
23:02
that same combination and it wasn't always successful and it would have been nice to see him just mixing a little bit
23:08
more volume just to put a stamp on it you know because it I mean at that level it's it's such a tight game you know
23:15
they they both brought it they both showed up in in really impressive ways and it just I would have liked to have
23:22
seen him make those adjustments and in previous fights he did make those adjustments you know and in this one it
23:28
just it it wasn't working as much as I think he hoped it would have
23:34
yeah but I mean I I think that they got the winner right you think so I do you
23:40
said you were going for a Marino though I was going for him oh you were going for him before the fight happened yes
23:46
okay gotta but I think that the the judges I don't think they were wrong you know I think
23:52
that sometimes it's really confusing are they looking for damage and power shots
23:57
or look volume and there's just such inconsistency it's hard but the way I saw it I can see why they gave it to
24:04
rall yeah no I thought it was just really close it it was one of those fights where you can't be mad either way
24:10
yes even though I saw the power in Marino's side like everyone was telling him to go you
24:17
know everyone was telling him more more and more and he could never pick a get into that next gear and I'm wondering
24:24
cuz I'm I'm sure he trained out in altitude but uh sometimes it still scks with you
24:30
sometimes you still have that altitude sickness sometimes you might get a little sick in Mexico City it's notus
24:37
for that um but he didn't have that same pep in a step that he usually does as a
24:43
flyweight and I think a lot of people were seeing that as the fight went on uh Roy V was picking up pace and it looked
24:50
like Marino just never got out of first gear but the power was there so yeah it
24:57
was it was a really really good fight um and I'm excited for Roy Val because he
25:02
just lost to the champion and now he's getting this second chance a second
25:09
chance that a lot of people don't get uh do you think he fights for the title next so you think he's still in line but
25:17
maybe next in line like I mean number two or three wouldn't it have given
25:23
Moreno an opportunity to get the title next yeah but it's not always the same on the other side it's not the so I
25:31
don't know necessarily if it puts him next in line I could argue that it would absolutely it was a great performance
25:38
against another top competitor to me that was a title contention fight right um the the thing that worries me though
25:46
is what I saw in Ral giving up his body in that fight is the same thing that's
25:52
going to happen you mean like you did on the floor the other day in your dance class
25:59
I can't twerk in the seat where I was like take
26:05
it yeah he um yeah I I just wonder if it's been enough time in between fight
26:13
image tell me what do you think are you thinking of me twerking you like I'm thinking of Roy Val
26:18
[Laughter] twerk I'm thinking of him just going
26:24
take me no I I I get you he he was wild a bit and left a lot of openings for
26:31
someone as annoying as panto is to Grapple with telling can you said that
26:37
no he mad you would never raise your elbows no never God knows no if you're
26:44
within two feet of that guy because he will go Zip Zip Zip and right on your neck right away um he did I felt like he
26:52
fought uh Marino knowing that that wasn't as much of a threat
26:58
but continue Fair continue about Ral giving up his body tell me more don't we all don't we
27:06
all MMA fighters we all give up our bodies I want to hear more of your MMA fanfiction
27:15
about that's it that's
27:22
it God I never pictured him in that way and now I can't help it well you said it seeing him
27:28
like fingers through the cage giving me a little little shimmy oh wow getting
27:34
excited over there a little bit excited I guess and he he had so much
27:40
spunk in his post like [ __ ]
27:45
it he is my notebook if you I need that has talking points oh he had uh so much
27:53
spunk in his postf fight speech too he was he was just like I don't care about
27:58
your questions I have answers that I prepared and these are what I'm GNA
28:05
say sometimes man so I still I think postf fight speeches are amazing it's
28:11
it's an amazing moment and you know you're like you're so excited you're so hyped and sometimes I wish people like
28:17
maybe like did a little like you know like in the mirror you know this is what I'm going to say and just like you know
28:23
played it out or like you know bounced it off of their cornerman or their manager their PR team like that cuz sometimes I just feel like
28:30
man just stop them just no you don't need to say that get Sandman out that's
28:37
not that's not helping you bring out the cane get out of
28:44
here oh man um yeah and then I'm like
28:50
you know people are like damn near concussed after their fights they really shouldn't be like talking at all they
28:55
should be on their way to Medical tent they say that a lot but we we still want to hear what they got to say it's like
29:01
when you take uh when you take the videos of the kids after they uh go to the dentist and they have the laughing
29:09
gas all these all these Fighters they say the darnest things when they have CTE fresh concussion let's hear what
29:17
they got to say you know it's going to be what they're really thinking oh my God it's like it's I get that like
29:22
secondhand embarrassment that just like I'm just like oh my God I'm so uncomfortable for them right now because
29:28
there's so much uncomfortable it's just so much there's just so much adrenaline too so it's not just that you're a
29:33
little loopy but you're also really happy if you won you know you're really pissed if you lost and there's so much
29:40
emotion that someone just trying to ask you a question can turn into something ridiculous but I wasn't mad at ral's
29:47
postf fight speech I I thought it was cute that he was trying to like be a personality you cuz he seems like this
29:56
chill uh you know whatever like his nickname is raw dog how chill do you
30:01
really think he is I mean I feel like that's his all his split personality like I'm my nickname is overkill but I'm
30:08
pretty chill but my Alter Ego in the cage is like I'm mean you know and
30:15
that's I'mma punch you and I feel like that's that was his Vibe he seems really
30:22
chill outside of fighting but yeah the post fight spee I think he's trying to
30:28
get people excited about him being a character I think he was just really excited yeah he's like I'm I'm taking
30:36
everything what did he say he said something like that it was like I'm taking everything for myself but no one's going to hold me down anymore Ah
30:43
that's what it is he must have been working hard on his getups yeah yeah I
30:49
when I first heard it I thought he meant literally oh or not literally figuratively I thought he meant no one's
30:56
going to keep me from getting to the top but he actually meant no one's couldn't get on top of me and not let me stand up
31:04
no he's like me he has terrible takedown defense he just goes with it he goes with it because he has crazy like
31:09
scrambling and stuff so yeah he like hey right into my
31:15
trap exactly what I wanted to be on my back exactly uh but uh I did like um
31:23
Brian Ortega's post fight speech there were some questions I had after that one I was like what are you
31:29
being a [ __ ] about I want to hear the translation because he there was a
31:34
moment where he said something in Spanish and half of the crowd laughed so
31:40
I'm like oh he's up here telling uh telling stand up right now in Spanish that's pretty impressive but I think he
31:46
was just saying um in the Spanish that he knew how to does he is he like fluent fluent or is he but has he always been
31:53
fluent okay it seemed like he was a lot more casual in his Spanish version um
31:59
but he was just kind of telling people what happened with the ankle and how he was just like oh
32:05
[ __ ] man when I saw him jumping up and down I was like boy you are not that athletic kind of build you should not be
32:11
jumping up and down right now my heart jumped my heart jumped when when that
32:18
ankle went out o that body type the linky noodle no no no linky noodle body
32:25
type from experience I roll my ankle any time I freaking get out of bed yeah it's so scary I and um we had uh
32:34
the other guy who was on the card a young kid R Rosas he hurt himself somehow they got sick oh was that what
32:42
it was yeah they said he got sick he probably had the street tacos I don't know that was a really weird one brush
32:48
his teeth with the water because I like I literally saw them post like you know Dana White Post like in the corner like
32:56
backstage kind of thing and they had just showed him walking in and just
33:01
showed him like maybe starting his warmup I think it was and then the next thing you know the commentary is
33:07
announcing that the fight is being postponed possibly till next weekend
33:12
dang I was like what kind of sick does he have like yeah well I just heard it was official that he's going to fight
33:18
next weekend but um yeah well it's easy to get food poison out there like some
33:23
kind of bacteria thing because the water is not um like the tap water you're not
33:30
supposed to drink it but people who aren't from Mexico City will come and drink the water because that's what
33:35
they're used to homeboy's Mexican you should know better but from where cuz I feel like I think he's from I think he's
33:41
like Mexican American yeah yeah he should he doesn't have that they should have told him well I feel like he kind
33:48
of just is is very nonchalant too he's just like oh whatever brushing his teeth
33:54
with the water even though everyone told him not to and be fine a Mexican and
33:59
then fight night not that kind of Mexican yeah if you're growing up like
34:05
violently throwing up you're not allowed to fight like I'm sure if he was sick he
34:10
would probably still try to fight but if you can't if you can't make it a few
34:15
minutes without throwing up or pooping catches you like acting funny back there yeah it's sweating looking looking
34:24
gross it hits you really quickly too uh when you get it I told you I got sick in
34:29
uh in Tulum and that was horrible just as soon as I was flying home so I lucked
34:35
out but yeah if you come down for fight week or even if you stay for a while and
34:41
then yeah it's really easy to get sick in those places when you're not used to going through all the precautions of not
34:48
ingesting water that goes through the Taps so per kid but now he knows and now
34:56
he'll be now he'll make sure he doesn't do that next time um but going back to Ortega he
35:04
did a little jump he rolled his ankle and it looked like it messed with him
35:09
for a little bit um but then he said in his postf fight speech he was like I know God was with
35:16
me he wasn't going to let us go out like that and like that's that's that's good
35:21
that you had that faith in that faith that God wanted you to win and not Yer
35:28
yeah cuz I think uh Yer was probably thinking the same thing yeah he's like oh God God made that ankle roll yeah he
35:35
even had his mom bless him before he went into did I think that's so sweet I like I think it's so sweet when people
35:41
are just like family people you know I just I love that did she do the egg thing no she just oh okay oh on the walk
35:51
out yeah I don't know what happened at home I don't know that would be really funny if someone did the egg
35:57
like you know what I'm talking about they like crack the egg and then tell your future whatever you that like Sania
36:05
that's like not Catholic oh yeah that's like voodo wish I just thought it was
36:10
Mexican a certain type of Mexican yeah they also like uh pee in jars and put like screws and nails and ribbon and
36:17
hair and stuff like that yeah they do all sorts of stuff bury it yeah I would to put that past y's mom to be all into
36:23
that stuff I'm telling I would feel well no I don't know her but I just feel like a mom would do whatever she needed to do
36:30
for her baby oh for sure my mom would do some Voodoo for her baby and she's a a straightup Christian yeah she she don't
36:37
play she don't play with the dark arts but she will for her
36:45
[Music] baby anything for the baby that's my name at my household I'm the baby even
36:51
though I'm old as [ __ ] yeah I can tell by the way you're treated in your family that you're definitely the baby
36:57
she can do no wrong she's the she's the special jealous no I was the oldest so I
37:03
have like serious like oh y'all all have issues yes yes I do yes I do Angela like
37:10
you didn't treat me like that my brother got all like the new cool things he
37:16
always got the nice treatment he got everything they like I was their guinea pig well yir I feel like he's the
37:23
firstborn because I think he's the baby you think he's the baby I like here's the baby I feel like we need to look
37:29
that up I feel like well I me but the firstborn in like uh Hispanic culture is
37:35
always like firstborn son like they're treated like our babies baby siblings
37:41
all the males are oh all of them oh okay yeah yeah they must be nice they
37:48
take care of their males yeah the mothers and the sisters have to take care of them must be nice yes so uh yeah
37:55
hear did not have God on his side no that that being said no but you know
38:03
like that's all faith is it it helps you be the best of you is I think that's
38:08
what it is it is not uh one person saying God likes you better than or God
38:13
likes me better than you is one person saying okay we're we're going to get through this and I'm going to be the best version of myself and if Orga had
38:20
let that ankle thing take his head out of the game he wouldn't have done with
38:26
what he was able to do which was get back in it uh work his way to getting on
38:31
top of Yer and just asserting his dominance and how good did he come out
38:37
in that second round an ankle roll and getting darn near finished yeah almost
38:44
finished in the first round and he came back out like that that was impressive super impressive that's um yeah that's
38:52
like the most impressive thing I think that that somebody can do inside the cage you
38:58
know it's um it's easy when you're winning it it's really hard to face adversary adversity um and come back the
39:08
way he did yeah it was very very impressive I was very happy for him yeah and um it makes me wonder because he's
39:15
he was saying that he had to get his his uh life together he was just being kind
39:20
of a knucklehead um makes me wonder what happened it makes me wonder a lot I
39:27
mean I think we're all wondering the same thing where does where does our
39:32
girl fit in this what happened she was in the stands was she she was she was a
39:38
guest fighter on that card I was wondering about that was she with her new boyfriend I don't know I didn't
39:44
actually see her in the crowd like with they just like panned in on her oh uh
39:50
just casually panning over the ex interesting yeah creating
39:57
story lines H I wonder what he did
40:04
Knuckleheads well maybe it made him a better person after you know sometimes
40:10
people got to go through things they got to they got to mess up real bad they got to screw up their life you know burn the
40:18
bridges burn everything down and then they can rebuild themselves and now he could be a better man for someone else
40:25
yep have you ever fixed a man for someone I great at fostering men and helping them find new homes yeah true
40:33
story I've only I've only had a couple a couple repaired men in my life
40:40
but sucks you see how happy their new girlfriend is oh no none of them are
40:48
actually happy that I can tell oh okay yeah no no I I left so you haven't repaired any I haven't I just I fostered
40:54
them oh you fostered them yes what's the difference just took care of them until
40:59
their next you okay you just like let them yes stay shitty go
41:07
go we're not dealing with it continue on their path of Havoc this
41:14
is not your home yeah I'm sorry yeah it was nice for a few months time to move
41:20
it's no longer you won't get your deposit back now I'm keeping that I'm keeping
41:26
that you went all over the floor um what do you think is next for Ortega now that
41:32
he got that big win because he's still pretty up there in the rankings yeah he is even though he I think it was a year
41:38
year and a half that he hadn't been active and that's why I was you know going with Yer for my bet for my pick
41:45
because y's been he's been doing well I mean minus the the vulk fight and I mean
41:51
that's that's a tough fight no shame in losing that one yeah but I just thought that he was you know know he he just had
41:57
a lot more momentum than Brian Ortega would which I was wrong yeah dude he
42:03
proved all of us wrong and I love when people do that like that's I I I love being wrong when someone's counted out
42:10
because um it just shows that they did get their [ __ ] together they buckle down
42:16
and and fix whatever wasn't working in their previous fights and um it wasn't
42:21
just the layoff but it was the performances that we've seen of hiss verus Yer as it seemed like Yer had a
42:28
good uh idea of how to beat him he could be aggressive he could be good on the feet he could be safe on the ground and
42:36
once artea decided to take the fight into his own hands he was able to make it happen get the Tak down you know like
42:44
stay on top it was uh it was really cool to see that all that hard work paid off
42:49
yeah so good job guess we're just going to have to do better next time with our
42:55
dual bits pick but I'm not mad at it maybe they are because they put their
43:01
money on it but oh whoops sorry guys our bad well um there were a couple fights
43:07
on the on the um prelims too that I was really excited about
43:15
um is I always [ __ ] up the r names on the Brazilians but hyi barcelos versus
43:23
uh our our little homie chran k kones um it sucks because it was kind of
43:31
I I like both of those Fighters I like one because we know his brother and then being able to see him get into the UFC
43:37
after Tacko was pretty cool and he had like this big um entry fight into the
43:43
UFC at UFC Paris and so I was like oh Christian K kenon is that's awesome but
43:48
then he's fighting this guy who I just think is so underrated and hyi barcelos
43:54
he every time he gets out there it's a fight of the night type of fight um he's just good everywhere his striking his
44:01
wrestling his wrestling is insane and his grappling and so we saw a lot of
44:06
crazy scrambles in that fight a lot of like big moments and yeah it was it that
44:11
was my fight a night pick for sure before the main event at least it did get a performance opponents didn't it
44:18
did it I don't I think um I think uh who
44:23
got the fight of the night I think it was orte no it wasn't our take I think uh the main event got fight a
44:31
night maybe but if not that one should have yeah I I thought that they would
44:37
end up getting in performance bonus but I guess not there were just some awesome fights on the whole card yeah it was a really stacked stacked card hopefully
44:43
they kick them something the the both of them because that was a really nuts fight and I was just like the first
44:50
maybe couple minutes I'm like ah this isn't as exciting as I thought it was going to be and then they started going
44:55
I'm like oh oh my god oh oh oh who's winning oh my goodness and then eventually uh Hy was able to get
45:02
submission and second around and yeah it was an awesome awesome fight there were some crazy grappling wrestling exchanges
45:09
yeah those scrambles were just so fun to watch yeah they really were it was very impressive and he's like at that size
45:14
where it's still like really Speedy it's hard to keep track of what's going on unless you are well versed in a
45:22
knowledge of grappling like we are I'm like oh we worked on that throw
45:27
oh I do not know what that one is I'm G to ask about that one on Saturday that little weird one he did where uh uh
45:34
Christian was on his back and barcelos like wrapped around and kind of popped
45:40
him over the knee that one was it was very nice it was really slick got uh
45:45
mentioned by all of the commentators like oh that was slick um
45:50
also uh the straw weight fight that happened I was happy for you as mean
45:55
just because she's coming off of that big knockout and we talked about that and the fans can just be so horrible to
46:04
you especially when a lot of people are rooting for you and then you just lose a
46:09
fight y it happens it's I've said it before in in fighting and in a lot of
46:17
things but in fighting specifically you are only as good as your last fight and you are only as relevant as what's next
46:24
it is it's a very hard way to live life at times it really really is um it can
46:30
it can really gobble you up and you can get lost in that kind of energy and that
46:35
way of thinking uh but you know she seemed to have stayed focused she you know went back to what she was good at
46:42
she asserted herself and she had a great performance yeah and she didn't uh get too wild and that was the one thing that
46:49
I noticed in all of her fights up until the one where she got knocked
46:54
out EXC me um she would she would get hurt being aggressive like she would
47:00
come in real hard and yeah when it lands it works but the problem is your
47:06
momentum is making all of your opponents punches harder and if you're coming in
47:12
wild with your like not your chin up but just like wide then it's easier for
47:17
somebody to counter you because you're coming in so wild and aggressive and she was very technical in this fight she
47:23
still had that same pop that same power and it really seemed to throw Sam Hughes off of all of her offense like she was
47:31
afraid to get in there you know yeah she she was having trouble from what I could tell from yasmine's speed the power yeah
47:40
um and she just Hugh wasn't making the proper adjustments she she was trying to strike
47:46
with somebody that had better striking with her instead of you know maybe trying to change the momentum get her up
47:52
against the cage like stifle her a bit take a little bit of wind out of out of her sales and she just wasn't able to
47:58
yeah and it and it's uh it was it was weird because every now
48:03
and then Hugh would land something clean but there was no power on it you could
48:09
tell she already decided that it wasn't going to work before she threw it so it was like why are you throwing that then
48:15
like she landed a a clean like push kick to to Yasmine stomach and literally just
48:21
kind of bounced off of her and didn't try to actually push her away or or you
48:26
know create distance or even try to hurt her with it and I felt like that was the
48:32
same with everything she was Landing she wasn't believing in it and I think if
48:37
you feel those first couple of punches and they're harder than you expected
48:42
they're faster than you expected and it's hard to get that uh to get that confidence in your own abilities that's
48:49
why Ortega had to Rally himself halfway through the round because he's like no
48:55
no no like like we're not going out like that and it's hard for people to be able to do that um especially when I don't
49:02
know they just don't believe in it so it was H it was a little uh I I did feel a
49:08
little bad for Sam Hughes because it seemed like the game plan was there but
49:13
there wasn't any uh belief in it like when she would get double unders she would it would get broken right away
49:20
because she wasn't really grabbing for it she wasn't really squeezing for it when she' landed check hook it would
49:25
bounce off of yasmine's head and it's just I I don't know you could tell that it there was a mental battle going on
49:31
there too absolutely I I did notice that like anytime I saw her kick the leg it
49:37
just looked like it was she was just trying to touch just bouncing off of her yeah bouncing off her muscles no I did
49:44
see that yeah and and that's a tough place to be in a fight yeah especially uh you know in ay territory especially
49:51
when you might have been thinking this is what everyone wants this is is what they expect this is why they made this
49:57
matchup and then it starts playing out the way that the story lines are in your head this it's hard being a fighter man
50:05
it really is it's awful it it always makes me wonder what's worse being the person who's brought into lose anding
50:11
you're losing or being the person who's brought into to win anding you're losing because it's always like it it just
50:18
sucks either way no both suck in different ways yeah um I feel like when you're going into enemy territory and
50:24
you're being brought and as an opponent I feel like it's it's a little bit easier but in in that in that sense it's
50:31
also easier to like kind of let yourself off the hook for not performing well
50:37
yeah which is it's all that's awful in itself it's it's a really hard internal battle and I'm I'm happy that a lot of
50:44
people are taking more time to like work on the mental side of things yeah you
50:50
know because it's it's a big gap I know I struggle with my own stuff everybody does um but it it really is a key piece
50:57
and I feel like it's neglected often times especially by like younger fighters you know when get a little bit
51:02
older a little bit wiser you start you know trying to look into things and and figure stuff out a little bit more than
51:09
just being like a young Brazen fighter yeah it's easier to be stupid when you're young too you don't have all the
51:14
trauma built up the PTSD from losing multiple times you just got in there you're like I'm going to be champion in
51:21
the world I'll be the youngest champ and I'm going to fight twice and become champ ion and then when it starts not
51:28
playing out the way you expected it to that's when the doubt starts creeping in and that's where the bad thoughts and
51:34
the things that can take you out of your game while you're fighting creeping so um I feel like Hughes felt a little bit
51:41
of that in that fight and you didn't see uh as good of a fighter as she usually
51:46
is but I still feel like it would have played out similar where uh Yas me would have been the the stronger faster uh
51:54
striker in the fight fight and she looked really good with her takedown the fence too like there was never a point
51:59
where I thought Hughes was close to really getting her down yeah it was a good fight um I think
52:08
we should address this weird package on the table oh that's so
52:14
weird I don't know where that came from but perhaps in our exclusive content I think it's about that time all right
52:20
we'll see you on the other side bye
52:27
