Hey, I'm Jocelyn, and this is my very dear friend Sandra, and we are back with another
0:05
Friday cocktail for you. And today's drink is going to be a Pimm's Cup
0:10
And Pimm's Cups are, they're very Southern, very New Orleans kind of thing, at least in
0:16
my mind they are. I used to have a little lady that would come in and drink them all the time, which is really funny
0:21
I was bartending in Illinois, and she would come in and drink these all the time
0:26
And so that's how I got to know about them. So why don't you tell us a little bit about Pimm's itself
0:32
Well, Pimm's, we don't know much. It was invented in England in 1840s
0:39
It is a very closely guarded secret, so we don't know exactly what's in it
0:43
but it is an herbaceous liqueur. And everyone, if you have not enjoyed a Pimm's cup before
0:50
it's a very famous old-fashioned cocktail, very highly associated with the Napoleon House in New Orleans. Right
0:59
New Orleans is my favorite American city, and the Napoleon House is my favorite bar in New Orleans
1:04
So if you down there go and get yourself one So this is a really simple drink to make even though they a little unusual so it a fun one to make for friends It very drinkable and people seem quite sophisticated
1:18
Do you think you can make this in a big batch or do we need to pour it by the glass
1:22
I feel that this needs to be a by the glass cocktail. I generally tend to feel that way about cocktails
1:30
Having said that, we did experiment and if you have a bunch of people coming you can certainly probably work that out
1:38
So what we're going to do is start out, this is an easy stir cocktail
1:42
So you don't need to use your shaker. So we're going to just use your glass with ice
1:48
So we're going to start with... Liquor in first. Always put your liquor in the glass, well, ice first. First
1:56
Then the liquor. So we're going to have one and one quarter ounce of our Pimm's number one
2:02
And you can't see the mark on my measure, but I promise you I'll only put it
2:07
I would never go a drop over a lot of them out
2:13
Fies. Fies like a rug. Four ounces of I have fresh squeezed lemonade
2:21
If you in a pinch you can buy some nice things off the shelf in your refrigerator section I think Simply makes a pretty good one That is pretty good I like Reliant Aid too Yes It tasty
2:32
If you're in real trouble and the only thing you have lying about is Kool-Aid or Country Time
2:38
Yeah! I'm not recommending it. I'm just saying, if you're in a pinch
2:43
Listen, I actually really do like Country Time Lemonade for what it is. For what it is
2:47
Yeah. Hey, I've used it in so many cocktails. I'm not here to judge. I'm just here to help you learn. Yeah, there we go. We're just going to put
2:55
one tiny little ounce. Just a scotch. It's like a scant ounce. I hope so because we've got so much
3:03
ice in there. It's going to be tight. It's going to be close. But you know, we've been doing good
3:08
on our numbers. So there we go. That's one-ish. I know. Seven up is a surprise. It's what the
3:14
Napoleon House uses. If it's good enough for the Napoleon House, it's good enough for us
3:19
All right, and we give it a little stir, yeah? Just a little stir. I kind of can't wait to dig into this
3:25
I really like, I love herbal liqueurs. One of my favorites is Benedictine
3:30
Yes. You know how I, I love that. I put a little because it a tall glass I like a tall sliver If that too much we just put a few round ones in there Or you can even put just a whole wheel on the edge of the glass however you like it
3:45
It's your drink. Sounds great. All right, see what you think. I get to drink more. Ooh, it's..
3:53
Mmm. It's so good. I really, yeah, I like Pimm's. It's, like you said, it's like an herbal sort of thing, whatever
4:02
but it's just, I don't know, it's bright and cheery, but it's got a depth of flavor
4:06
Instead of just something completely light, there's more to it. Yeah, right
4:10
Yes, it's a nice layer of flavor. Keep talking. I'm going to keep drinking
4:18
Lots of good flavors in there. Very refreshing summer beverage. Enjoy. Yeah, so I'm going to finish this, and then we will see you next Friday for another cocktail
4:29
Bye. See you then. Bye. That's a really tall glass. I'm going to go, I'm going to actually
4:42
I know there's one in here. There you are. Thank you. So back to the cocktail
