That's a better idea
0:02
So we got the brand new lineup from LG Evo lineup. And of course, the Evo designation represents the top tier for LG and ultra high resolution beyond 4K
0:13
This, by the way, a world's first. This is the biggest 5K, 2K gaming display that's ever been made
0:20
We'll get there. Let's start down on this end. This is a mini LED display
0:24
So this is the GM9. Next to it, the GX9. And all the way down there, the G9
0:29
The small guy is actually kind of the best in some categories
0:33
So this is going to be your tightest pixel density. There's a 5K display in the GM9 and the other two being 5K, 2K
0:39
And when you go ahead and put 5K on a 27-inch, you end up with an incredibly sharp image, incredibly tight
0:47
So the benefit of 5K, 27-inch, mini LED, tremendous sharpness, obviously. That's a lot of pixels packed
0:53
When you're editing a photo, for example, and you just kind of are really inspecting on a per pixel level
0:59
this might not be zoomed in enough. I might be touching something up and actually want to move in even more so and identify individual pixels
1:06
If you're shooting raw images, high resolution images, multi megapixel images, then being able to get in there and kind of fine tune things in your editing software, it's just an advantage
1:16
I think the workstation scenario is maybe actually even two of these, like paired together
1:21
With that dual mode here, you really have both. So 5120 by 2880, a lot of brightness here
1:27
So 1250 nits. I think this display here, really nice balance, productivity work, creative work potentially
1:35
and then gaming, the ability to do gaming as well. So this has that dual mode setup that LG is famous for
1:41
So you can select for maximum resolution at 165 Hertz, or you can go for maximum refresh
1:48
You can go for 330Hz at QHD on this display. What that means is you don't really have to compromise because of that dual mode
1:55
And when we talking about gaming in those lower resolutions we now dealing with a brand new processor across the board that LG claims is doing a much better job of upscaling So turning a 1080p signal into a 5K image
2:11
These upscaling advantages mean that even if you want to play some other source that's not 5K capable
2:16
you're still going to receive some of the advantages of using a native 5K display via that upscaling
2:22
So G-Sync compatible, 218 is the actual PPI measurement. And you may be concerned about burn-in
2:28
LG claims to have basically solved that with OLED and mini-LED in this case
2:33
and having greater stability with mini-LED. As far as inputs, you have HDMI 2.1 times 2 on the back
2:40
You also have DisplayPort 2.1. There's USB-C with 90-watt power delivery. So when you jump into the interface, you have all your gaming-specific stuff
2:47
So we can just jump into game mode. We can launch into our settings. So the whole interface gives you that flexibility when switching between those different modes without needing to fine-tune each mode each time
2:58
Got your game mode you can jump into and then back into your work mode or your day-to-day mode
3:01
I'm moving over to the GX9. So obviously things get a little bit bigger here. So this here is the world's first 39-inch 5K, 2K OLED
3:09
And now with a fourth-generation tandem, even better OLED performance without giving up brightness
3:14
Apparently, LG took some user feedback into consideration. They actually gave it a slightly more subtle curvature
3:21
This is now a 1500R curve, a little bit less aggressive, arguably a little bit more productive
3:26
like for day-to-day desktop use. And the same thing occurred with scale
3:31
So this one is now 39 inches compared to the previous 45
3:35
You've got the same 5K, 2K, and brightness here up to 1500 nits as well
3:40
So you've still got type C, you've still got 90 watt power delivery. And with LG's fourth generation OLED
3:46
the tandem OLED, you're looking at, effectively, the brightest OLED you can get at the moment
3:51
You also have dual mode, so that dual mode really comes into play. So like right now for example I playing the new Forza on 5K It looks amazing I not quite getting 165 frames per second but display is capable of 165 Hertz in this mode with 5K
4:07
So I have that choice of extreme clarity or using the dual mode
4:13
And then I had the thing reading like 300 FPS. The other thing I'm noticing here
4:17
particularly in Forza, I'm kind of liking that the subtle curvature, the advantage of the subtle curvature here
4:23
the 1500R, It's going to be more usable for a wider variety of functions versus like just gaming
4:31
So I think it's actually kind of a nice mix. I love driving extremely chaotically and hitting some kind of top speed and then trying to cut as closely as possible to the other vehicles while I'm passing them
4:49
Like that. Like head-on traffic would just by like an inch. you know what I'm saying
4:56
without hitting that's pretty close without hitting get another one higher speed
5:05
without hitting close close close cut it we had 200 miles an hour
5:15
no problem so the dual mode here will do 165 in full 5k
5:23
or you can go to WFHD and then you're at 330 hertz
5:27
And then the next one we get to the gaming centric. This monitor is almost a TV, honestly, at this size
5:32
This thing is huge. So this is a 52 inch display. I mean, this is bigger than many people's displays
5:36
1000 R curvature. I think this is going to go in a person's room
5:40
who wants it to be the one display that they use for everything. They're going to watch movies on this display
5:45
They're going to sit a little further back, potentially hook up a console. It's a VA panel
5:48
So you're not going to be getting your OLED or your mini LED, but you're just going to be getting scale here
5:53
It also doesn't feature the dual mode, but it's got 240 hertz, which for gaming is going to be sufficient for a lot of people The main advantage here is going to be that scale You just want the biggest display you can possibly get to make that impact You got a lot of adjustability as well with the stand
6:09
So more than what you might get typically with a TV. So this model has two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 2.1
6:18
It can still deliver up to 90 watts over the USB though
6:22
Obviously there are some advantages to scale. So having 5k, 2k at scale
6:27
Even when you sit close to it, like they don't really break up
6:31
It still appears to be sharp. This is for people who are going to have an all-in-one display to do everything for them
6:37
It's for people who are going to have a display that's their main display for watching movies
6:42
No problem when you've got so much scale. So according to LG, this is actually the world's first 52-inch 5k, 2k display
6:50
Okay, so the question for you is, which would you choose and why
6:56
I'm curious which will be the most popular. You've got scale over here with the G9
7:00
You just want the biggest thing. You want one monitor to replace your TV
7:04
You want the hybrid approach and the OLED. Probably the one I would choose, 39-inch OLED, dual-mode built-in
7:11
fourth-generation RGB tandem OLED, and very bright as well, up to 1,500 nits on this model for the versatility of being that dual monitor
7:19
that's going to work and play. or you go more work oriented
7:23
So when you have 5K resolution in a 27 inch, you're dealing with very tight pixel density
7:28
You got the dual mode backup, so you want to game on it? Yeah, no problem
7:33
Also quite bright and mini LED. It's nice to have options, but I want to know which one you would pick
7:37
Would it be the GM9, the GX9 or the G9? Let me know in the comments
7:50
Thank you
