there we go unbelievable 128-bit graphics and ear shattering sound might just be more than your
0:08
booty can handle why have i what should it have been body i don't know why my booty has
0:16
so samsung display has some new tech we are talking about their qd oled portion of the lineup
0:23
and we're talking about something called penta tandem which is the latest generation and comes
0:28
with a bunch of improvements. Now if you're wondering why we've got a bunch of monitors here
0:33
this technology has been deployed by a number of manufacturers each in their own kind of way. So
0:38
we've got the MSI 322UR, ROG monitor, there's a Dell monitor and then Samsung's very own monitor
0:46
that shipped in this box. Each one implementing this new technology and then adding some of their
0:52
own flair and their own features to go along with it. So something else I found interesting is that
0:56
Samsung Display actually has a partnership with Sega. Yes, the Sega, the Sonic Sega, and specifically
1:02
on the release of their latest game, Sonic Cross Worlds. And so along with these monitors, I was
1:08
sent some pristine versions of a Sega Dreamcast console as well as a Sega Genesis console, and I
1:14
just had to unbox them. Okay. So before we get into each specific monitor, let's talk a little
1:21
bit more about what QD Display is, specifically QD OLED. This combines material engineering
1:26
quantum physics and vision science to deliver stunning color and detail. Now, you've obviously
1:32
heard of OLED. OLED has this characteristic of doing so much better in the dark portions of the
1:37
display, giving you those deep blacks, that really saturated looking color. Now, when you bring the
1:42
pen to tandem tech, like what does that even mean? The entire agenda here is enhancement in a couple
1:47
of categories. Goal is to improve brightness, the lifespan, and the power efficiency. Now, let's
1:53
zero in a little bit on each of these monitors let's start with the ROG this is a 34 inch QHD
1:58
plus 360 hertz gaming monitor so obviously it's got a very fast response time which gamers are
2:04
looking for QD OLED's response time can be up to a hundred times faster than that of LCDs next let's
2:10
take a look at the Dell this is a U32 ultra sharp and it's a 31.5 UHD 120 hertz now something worth
2:16
talking about here since this is a monitor that is more productivity based is the wider viewing
2:21
angle and Samsung display calls it quantum view Now what about the MSI This is the MPG 322UR QD OLED Also 31 inch UHD but 240 hertz Now obviously like the others this one benefits from increased efficiency energy efficiency
2:40
And Samsung also provides an extra film on the front of the display called Dark Armor Film for this MSI device for enhanced blacks
2:47
So what you can end up with here because of this coating is up to 40% deeper blacks and 2.5 times the scratch resistance
2:55
And last up, we've got Samsung's very own G80SH, 31.5 inch UHD, 240 hertz gaming monitor
3:02
And this one actually has VESA certified display HDR true black 500
3:07
You're getting better highlights, deeper blacks and less energy consumption. So if you compare it to a TV 400 display, you're actually going to get 500 nits here with the same energy consumption as something that would have been getting 400
3:18
Well, this is a special day. I don't know how long you guys been around on this channel, but I've probably mentioned in the past
3:23
and I think I've even done a less pristine unboxing of a Dreamcast
3:29
Sega Dreamcast happens to be maybe my favorite console ever. It's certainly like from a sentimental point of view
3:37
This was a huge upgrade for me when I got it. I never owned anything from this generation
3:43
You also had some really bizarre titles like this Seaman title, which was this fish that you were supposed to take care of
3:51
You may not think I'm attractive, but your wife will. Built-in 56K moda
3:58
Unbelievable. 128-bit graphics and ear-shattering sound. Might just be more than your booty can handle
4:10
Why have I, what? Should it have been body? I don't know why my booty has that
4:17
I wasn't even gonna read that section. That's weird, okay. And I also have a Genesis here
4:22
So this is beautiful. We can do a little bit of a comparison. You know what
4:26
Since I think the Dreamcast for me is the real prize of the bunch here
4:30
I'm gonna start actually with the Genesis 16-bit video entertainment system. Oh, which titles? Okay
4:40
Oh, man. Pristine with all the paperwork? Are you joking? I don't even know if I'm going to open this plastic up
4:46
Look at this. Welcome to the next level. You can see Sonic right there. Tropical Sonic
4:50
Available on Genesis, Game Gear, Sega CD. Oh this is Echo the Tides of Time That right That interesting The game itself gets its own manual for you to learn the controls and such because there no like tutorial in the games back then Here is the game This is Sonic the Hedgehog 3
5:05
You know what? Good Lord. These are incredibly clean contacts. What is this
5:10
Sonic and Knuckles. I don't remember the cartridge looking like this. Wow. Is that right
5:16
You guys don't even know. The youngsters, they don't even know what people were up to
5:21
Wild. Assembled in the USA. No wear and tear on the controller either
5:29
Not even like, you know sometimes you have shininess where it was held and used. This has got to be like a closet find
5:34
Here is the console. And I'm feeling guilty right now. I'm not going to lie
5:39
But I have to take this off. I've got to open this up. I mean, that's the point of this video. There's like a collector in me
5:47
Oh my god. That is so mint. Wow. Great preservation here. Two controller set up
5:54
cartridge input. Let's see how that goes. I mean, I've obviously diminished it by interacting with it
6:03
I'm going to struggle to sleep tonight, but it is the point of the video. Okay. Now it is time for the masterpiece, the Dreamcast
6:08
Taking a trip back childhood. It's a Lou now. Okay, good. There we go
6:17
And you can see they were really playing up the controller at this time because it was a big differentiator
6:22
So let's go ahead, move to the next step. Now the packaging here, quite a bit different
6:30
the way they laid everything in. So here's the controller, couple of CDs here
6:35
Controller seems to have no discoloration. Like mine was definitely more yellow than that
6:40
The sort of way it fits it within your hands, not at the grooves are not as deep
6:44
You see how I can kind of really fit my hand in here like this. I also didn't remember that there were two slots
6:50
And you could get a memory card that did not have a display, or you could get the VMU unit
6:55
which did have the display for saving your games. The other interesting thing here
6:59
is you have now the cable terminating at the bottom of the controller
7:03
instead of out the top, which is weird. Made in China at this point
7:06
no longer made in the USA, no surprise there. This paperwork looks fresh
7:11
No tape though, so I could take a look. Play to win. Little Dreamcast magazine
7:16
I don't believe I had a subscription to that. There were magazines at the time that would show up at your house monthly and there would be demo discs for games for whether
7:23
it was like a PC gaming magazine or console gaming magazine and you would get to try games out and decide if you wanted to buy them Obviously very limited trials Demos for software not yet rated
7:35
Here we have Tomb Raider. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. Oh, man. Yeah, dude
7:41
Dead or Alive 2, Sonic Adventure, Rayman 2. And then the web browser 2.0
7:46
Also unopened. Explore the worldwide web. Chat with people around the world
7:52
Around the world? around the world from where from from from my location my cozy little town the magic and wonders
8:02
of email standard telephone cable for a 56k connection still very popular and here is the
8:10
dream cap not discolored at all just totally fresh and now that's gonna bring me back right there and
8:16
i'm really glad i did this because i know for a fact the last time i did which would have been a
8:22
long time ago, I did not have one as pristine as this. Not even close. This has got to be one of
8:27
the better samples that exists at this moment. Wow. They really tracked down some beauties
8:33
Probably the best moment after all of this is going to be to press the open button. Super soft. Super soft. At least, and now we're going to go down for a click
8:45
I heard Mo in the back. He went, phew. I heard him from behind there
8:52
Unbelievable. Unbelievable
9:13
I wonder how many times in my life I listened to that. Oh my god, rapid
9:41
Yes! Yes! Defeated the devil. Cool. Thank you
