Very nice
0:06
They tell me Lou, they say show me the budget phones. Show me the phones that are affordable that deliver on the value for money proposition
0:15
And supposedly this is that next one from one of the companies that sort of started that conversation
0:22
around flagship specifications for a lot less money. that of course is poco i remember the original poco phone it sort of flipped the smartphone world
0:32
a little bit now since that device we haven't exactly seen that flagship spec that top tier
0:39
snapdragon chip inside of a phone that's a lot less money but they're still aiming at that value
0:44
for money and this is that next big play and i'm i'm hearing the noise i'm hearing the chatter about
0:49
this particular device on twitter and elsewhere so here we are it is the poco x3 nfc and it looks
0:55
like mine is gonna be in cobalt blue pop off the lid right here and we've got another little box
1:04
that's because they they give us a case somehow when you spend less money or you approach the the
1:11
the budget-minded smartphones you get more in the box you see how that goes we have a sim card tool
1:15
right here we have a case also included in the package there's a little bit of paperwork the case
1:21
This is your first indication of the design of the smartphone. And you can see a large circular cutout for the camera unit
1:28
This is a basic case just to get you up and running, but you gotta appreciate seeing it inside the box
1:34
Is this a poster? Look at all this, these are stickers. I didn't expect to see that
1:39
So the brand, the Poco brand is kind of picking up some steam here
1:45
Maybe you wanna slap those on the bumper and you show your support
1:49
Is that a temporary tattoo? I believe this is a first. I have unboxed many smartphones here on the channel
1:57
This might be the first temporary tattoo. Am I going to put it on
2:01
Am I gonna slap it on? It's quite possible. It's the classic, it's the heart
2:05
with the arrow going through it. So as you can see, yeah
2:10
This is that cobalt blue that I mentioned from the exterior of the box
2:15
And that's what it looks like. Ah, so the cutout is not fully circular. That's kind of interesting
2:20
There's a circular indication there with the design, but then the camera unit itself is kind of an unusual shape
2:28
Little plastic peel for you. That is some seriously cobalt blue. And I actually missed the specifications
2:37
which were actually planted on the front. Real quick, before I pull the plastic off, it's the Snapdragon 732G up to 2.3 GHz
2:44
So we are in a 700 series of Snapdragon chips. 120 hertz displayed
2:50
A lot of people can be excited about this at this price point. Target price somewhere around 250 USD You of course can do the conversion for your local region 240 hertz touch sampling rate which of course that important for that kind of that really fast feedback
3:05
64 megapixel AI quad camera built in, 20 megapixel in-display front camera for the selfies
3:11
And this is very exciting to people. I love seeing the fast charging and the big batteries showing up at the lower price points
3:19
So we have 5160 milliamp hour battery and a 33 watt fast charge
3:23
Now I will do the plastic peel. Very nice. One more sticker to go
3:36
Okay, good. So it's a flashy back on this thing. You have the Poco logo kind of, I mean, fairly substantial on the back
3:46
I don't know if that's to your taste or not. But if you want to rep the brand, you're going to see it right there
3:51
You have these little lines kind of moving on a diagonal down the center and then just cobalt blue sort of reflecting everywhere else
3:59
It's got a shimmer to it. It kind of changes colors a little bit depending on the reflection of the light
4:05
Look at the variety of camera units including the 64 megapixel main camera up here in this section
4:12
The whole thing has a really premium feel to it. It has some weight to it
4:16
fingerprint scanner over here on the thumb portion where your finger lines up i don't mind this i'm
4:22
used to this uh it's capacitive so it's fast you have the volume rocker up above that over here is
4:29
your sim card tray then on the bottom of the device you'll find your usbc connector for that 33 watt
4:35
fast charge the speaker unit as well as a 3.5 mil headphone jack which many people still use and love
4:42
also inside the package. Of course, we had to have that fast charger
4:46
as mentioned, 33 watts. USB type C to A cable to connect to that charger
4:53
We're gonna pull the screen protector off. This could be, this is a crazy move. Very nice
5:00
All right, so here we have the fingerprint setup for security. You just line up your thumb, as mentioned
5:06
Now, one of the benefits of having it on a power switch, you touch there all the time anyways
5:11
it's kind of second nature to have your thumb in that location and so it's kind of a two for one
5:18
you're gonna go hit the button and your thumb is already there done
5:22
it's pretty quick what's interesting with these things is once it's semi-booted then it's really
5:31
quick but if you go just on it it's like a little hair of a second slower but this is acceptable
5:40
I don't know where I stand on this, to be honest, I can adapt to the various locations
5:45
of fingerprint scanners, whether it's the back, the side, or the end display
5:49
There's an advantage with the end display if you're one of these people that likes to unlock on the tabletop but I find you know it that those tend to be just a touch slower in most cases so it a bit of a trade as you can see it a fairly snappy experience but i do want to check to see what
6:08
the display is set to out of the box and i was right it is snappy because it's already at that
6:15
120 hertz which is kind of surprising right out the box and a lot of other devices you need to
6:20
select for it or it would be some sort of adaptive setting maybe this is adaptive it says some apps
6:27
will increase refresh rate automatically to improve picture quality and if you do set it backwards to
6:33
60 hertz you will receive better battery life but do you really need to worry about battery life when
6:38
you have 5000 plus milliamp hours i don't know i like having the option but anyway it's 120 hertz
6:44
straight out the box. There are some modifications you can make. This is the automatic mode based on the ambient lighting conditions
6:53
There's also a saturated setting and a standard setting. That goes a little bit more yellow
6:58
But if you don't want it, look at this. You have tons of opportunity going there and change the white point
7:03
change the white balance. I was happy with auto, so I'll stick to that for now
7:07
I think the reason that people are excited about this device is the combination of specifications
7:13
and the whole package, the way it's put together for the price
7:17
You have this aggressive screen-to-body ratio. You have a hole-punch cutout, which is essentially in line
7:23
with those much more expensive devices from companies like Samsung. You have the 120Hz display
7:29
I don't need to explain this to you at this point. We've talked about it so much. It gives you an advantage
7:33
in the kind of snappy feel of the device, the responsiveness of the device
7:38
If you do jump into certain games, you can actually experience up to 120 FPS as long as the game supports the unlocked frame rate
7:46
This is going to give you an idea. Well, in this case, in this frame, you barely see the hole punch because there's a TV back there
7:53
Let me... Barely takes up any space. Obviously, this is a popular choice right now for your front-facing camera and where to place it
8:03
Really? No, this is an Apple product only for Apple employees. So you know, it's high level
8:10
So yeah, we're getting a lot of low end and probably the majority of the audio out of the bottom section
8:15
But we are getting some more from the earpiece location. Makes dialogue a little bit easier to hear
8:22
It's not the best sounding smartphone speaker. It's definitely not blowing me away, but it gets the job done
8:27
Alright, let's load up the camera real quick. We're going to go with the trusty plant as per usual
8:33
And I will load up on the One X to start. And bam, we've of course also got an ultra wide in here, 0.6, gotta have it
8:45
And the third setting is the 2x as far as optical is concerned. Kablamo
8:50
Now if I click on the AI button let see if it does any better now that it knows it a plant It did boost up the green How about if we toggle automatic HDR Now what you gonna do All right so we just browse through
9:06
some of those images real quick. The AI mode gave me a little more green in the plant
9:14
There's lots of detail. You have plenty of pixels. This is, of course, a fairly limited environment
9:19
but to just give you an idea of your available focal ranges, that's the standard focal range
9:24
That's your 2x close and there's your ultra wide fitting plenty more into the frame
9:30
So you have the camera versatility built in if I flip it around to the front facing camera supposedly
9:36
There's a lot of resolution on the selfie 3 2 1 And then let's see if AI can what AI likes to do to me
9:46
Maybe it's probably gonna be fairly It's fairly similar wow, it's a lot of detail
9:52
We talked about the beard hair many times on the show. It's become a meme
9:56
And the beard hairs, they change colors like the leaves are about to change
10:00
Because fall is coming. It's my favorite season. I put the hoodie on. It's Pumpkin Spice Town right now out there
10:05
Nonetheless, it's lots of resolution. If you like selfies, my goodness. Look at you now
10:12
Alright, so we have to do the quick charge test as we've done many times on the channel
10:18
I want to see the animation. It always gets me going every time. And now we have it, like I said, on more affordable devices
10:25
So it's very exciting in a world of sub $300 smartphones getting some of the faster chargers out there
10:35
To be honest, this 133 watt, we plug it in. What are they going to give us
10:39
Woo! Turbocharge, baby! You just watch it flow. If that doesn't get you going, I don't know what does
10:46
And so you're going to have that support in this device. And to be fair, it's filling up a very large battery
10:51
Once again, to remind you, over 5,000 mAh. So, do we have a new Budget King
10:57
Look, it's got all the pieces. It feels very premium in the hand
11:01
It's got everything you're looking for. No, it does not have an 800 series Snapdragon
11:07
All right, that chip has sailed. And besides, this one is priced more aggressively than would ever be possible with that other chip in it
11:16
Will this be good enough for most people? I think, yeah, probably. Now you're getting all this tasty stuff like the 120 hertz
11:24
like the really aggressive screen to body ratio, like the quick charge
11:28
and of course the big battery. And you're getting it at a price that I think is going to be healthy for a lot of people
11:33
So there you have it. It's the newest Poco device. This is the X3 NFC
11:39
Don't forget the NFC. And who knows? I might just have to slap this on right now
11:44
It's quite possible
