The Battle of Saragarhi was fought between the Sikh soldiers representing the British Indian Army and the Afghan Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen.
The battle took place on 12 September 1897 in Afghanistan at the ***Saragarhi Post located in the North-West Frontier Province.
The Saragarhi Post consisted of a blockhouse and a heliograph signaling tower where only 21 Jat Sikh soldiers fought against an army of more than 10,000 Afghan tribesmen.
