WATCH: Smoke, Grenades and Street Clashes as France's Yellow Vests Return | Times Now World

France's Yellow Vest movement returned to the streets on Saturday as protesters clashed with police in Marseille during nationwide demonstrations over rising living costs, fuel prices and public services. Footage showed demonstrators running through smoke-filled streets near Place Castellane, throwing bottles and other objects towards advancing officers as barricades blocked sections of the road. Yellow Vest activists joined students, trade unions and other groups, linking economic grievances with growing anger over underfunded schools and education reforms. France's Justice Ministry said 6,877 people were taken into police custody between September 28 and October 8 amid student unrest, with 86% of those detained being minors. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu acknowledged young people's frustration and promised initial measures by the end of October while defending security forces against accusations of systematic repression. The renewed mobilisation recalls the Yellow Vest protests that began in 2018 over fuel taxes before expanding into a broader movement against economic inequality and the cost of living. The demonstrations put France's government under renewed pressure as economic grievances and youth discontent converge on the streets. #france #franceprotests #yellowvests #marseille #marseilleprotests #yellowvestmovement #francenews #breakingnews #policeclashes #costoflivingcrisis #fuelprices #studentprotests #europe #europeannews #protests #publicservices #economicinequality #frenchpolitics #worldnews #timesnowworld #france #franceprotests #yellowvests #marseille #marseilleprotests #yellowvestmovement #francenews #breakingnews #policeclashes #costoflivingcrisis #fuelprices #studentprotests #europe #europeannews #protests #publicservices #economicinequality #frenchpolitics #worldnews #timesnowworld Stay connected with Times Now World for real-time global news and analysis: Read full coverage: https://www.timesnownews.com/world Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/timesnow.world Follow us on X: https://x.com/TimesNow_World #timesnowworld #worldnews #breakingnews
