Hello Windows Universe! Michael here with another fact-filled
0:16
data intense video that is sure to leave you breathless
0:19
and your jaw on the floor. Now, websites can be blocked on three levels-
0:26
the computer level, the network level, and the ISP
0:31
or governmental level. Some DNS services such as OpenDNS, too, offer the options to
0:38
block certain types of websites for different
0:41
users sharing a computer. However, in this video, we will not be
0:46
talking about how to block a website as much as how
0:50
you can access a website that is restricted by
0:53
your network admins and ISPs. And, as always, we will
0:58
link a wonderful article in the description below that hopefully won't
1:01
be blocked that you can use for more information.
1:05
Now, a quick work around is to change the
1:10
http. Sometimes, when a website is blocked it
1:15
might be blocked as an http or an https.
1:21
So, if entering in https gets you blocked try
1:26
entering in just http or the other way around
1:30
and see if it's blocked. Now, if you're not
1:33
getting an error message about a restriction due to
1:37
restrictions on the account, it might be family safety software.
1:43
If it isn't, then you can try looking at your internet options.
1:46
So, let's go to the Control Panel,
1:51
find the security tab and click on restricted sites; and check to see if the
1:58
site you're requesting is listed there. If it is then remove it.
2:04
Also, take a look in content see if there's any sort of
2:08
other restrictions. Now, it might be password protected
2:11
but if you can access it then you might be able to change any restrictions that
2:15
exist. Now, we'll move on to the world of proxy
2:19
servers. The good thing about a proxy server is it
2:23
doesn't require you to install software or mess with internal computer
2:27
settings. The downside is that some network
2:31
protection systems are updated and block proxy servers and
2:35
websites. So, the proxy server website you might
2:38
use today might be blocked in your network
2:41
tomorrow. So, how do you get
2:46
around surfing restrictions on your computer?
