Hey everybody, welcome back to the Senator's Roundtable. I'm your host Jacob Billington
0:05
joined by Matthew Zatorre today. This is your first time on the show. You're usually behind
0:10
the scenes, but happy to have you here. We're a little short man today, but that's okay
0:14
How are you doing? Doing good. Draft is just around the corner and we've got a few really good trades that
0:21
have happened. So yeah, lots of fun as we enter July here
0:26
Yeah, and we've been pumping out the draft content on the YouTube channel. So while you're here
0:30
make sure to go check that out. But speaking of the trades, the Ottawa Senators right before
0:36
game seven dropped a massive trade. And I wonder if dropping this right ahead of game seven is
0:43
Michael Anlauer getting a little bit of payback for the Evgeny Dadnov and Shane Pinto situations
0:49
But the trade was the Ottawa Senators acquiring Linus Olmert, goaltender from the Boston Bruins
0:56
for Jonas Korpisalo, 25% retained, Mark Kastelik and the 25th overall draft pick in this year's
1:02
draft. Bruins fans have a reason to be upset right now. It's a year ago, the day this is coming out
1:09
it's a year ago to the day that Olmert won the Vezina Trophy. As we're recording this, he's
1:15
the current reigning Vezina Trophy winner. That's a pretty underwhelming return. It's a fleece for
1:23
Ottawa, in my opinion. What do you think of the trade, Matthew? I agree. I mean, I thought we, you know, you guys talked about it, that Korpisalo
1:31
there's no way he's being in these trades. No one's going to want that contract. No one's going to want him. Well, the Bruins apparently do. So they, I mean, I don't, I don't understand
1:42
why Chikrin wasn't part of this trade. I mean, I thought that's what was going to take. That's
1:48
what it was going to take. Yeah, first round pick, but it's a late first round. I mean
1:52
you're going to get a pretty good prospect there, but, and Kaslitz, a good bottom six guy. He's a
1:57
good third, fourth line player that probably would fit in really well in Boston. But overall, I mean
2:04
the Bruins didn't really get a lot for arguably their, could pretend saying that their starting
2:11
goalie, their 1A, 1B, whatever you want to call them. I, that's a pretty underwhelming return
2:16
I do agree. I would be pretty angry if I was a Bruins fan too, saying, well, this is what we got
2:21
for him. Yeah. Not too bad. Not too good. At least for me. Well, when you look at the needs that
2:27
Boston needed from this trade, it was to free up cap space. It was to get somebody to help the NHL
2:35
roster now more than the Olmer can do. Cause you have Jeremy Swain and you don't need Lena
2:40
Solmark and that's, that's totally fine. They didn't do either of those things. Mark Castle
2:45
like is not a needle mover. He's going to be a 12th, 13th forward for the Bruins. He's
2:51
is a Bruin. Like the way he plays hockey, he belongs with the Boston Bruins. And then you
2:56
don't free up any cap space. Cause you got a Corpus Sallow at 3 million and then Castle get
3:03
over 800,000. So you're freeing up $1.1 million and that's, that's not doing anything for you
3:11
If you're bringing back Jacob Chickern in the trade, then sure. You can deal with
3:15
no money movement because you're getting a huge upgrade on your roster. I fully expected it to
3:21
be Jacob Chickern and 25th overall. And even then, I don't know if Corpus Sallow would be part
3:27
of that trade. That's what I fully expected. So I'm definitely happy from an Ottawa side of things
3:33
Um, you, you dump the contract, like the price to dump the, you know, this Corpus Sallow contract
3:40
was probably quite high, even at 25% retained. Cause it's still four more years and he had an
3:45
890 save percentage, one of the worst in the NHL last year. I don't know how Steve Stahels pulled that off
3:53
I really don't either. I mean, the thing is, is yeah, Corpus Sallow could be better in Boston
3:57
you know, obviously a way better defense in front of them and way better system
4:01
but I don't know, putting, taking that much term. I mean the money. Yeah. But that other three years
4:09
I mean, you're, you're stuck with them. I mean, I don't know if the Bruins are gonna be able to move him. I, unless they buy him out down the line or something like that, but, or he turns around and
4:18
becomes a really good one B at the Swainman, obviously Swainman's a starter. I mean, there's
4:23
not going to be the same type of split. I, but I mean, if he can be an adequate backup, I guess
4:29
but that's a pretty expensive backup in my opinion. So yeah, I don't get it really. I don't
4:36
And he's going to be better because he can't be worse. Like, um, he can't be worse than the worst
4:42
goalie in the league. And so going to Boston, he's a hundred percent going to be a better
4:45
goaltender. I expect him to be around a 900 safe percentage, um, about an even win loss, uh, ratio
4:53
but like, why do you bring him on? You have Brandon Boosie. Um, he's more than capable of
4:58
being the backup. Like, I just, I don't understand. They didn't, they didn't have the leverage to make
5:06
a deal or sorry. They did have the leverage cause they didn't need to move on Merck. Um, they could
5:11
have been more than happy to stick with all Merck for one year, rather than four years of
5:16
corpus Alla with $3 million. Like I would rather let all my walk in free agency than that. I don't
5:22
know. It, it doesn't make any sense to me, but again, for the auto side of things, couldn't be
5:26
happier to see it. Oh, I love it for the senators. I mean, all marks a legitimate number one. Uh, he
5:34
he complained. The thing is, I think the biggest thing is the centers have to be way better in
5:38
front of them. I mean, it's the thing is, is yeah, he's a great goaltender, but we've seen
5:44
in the past, great goaltenders become bad on teams that just give up tons of high danger chances. And
5:50
I was like, why aren't they playing very well? Well, there's the reason, I mean, Talbot going
5:54
to LA, he looks great. And then in Ottawa, it didn't look very good. I mean, all Mark could
6:00
suffer the same fate. Arguably he's a way better goaltender, I think then Talbot. Um, so, I mean
6:06
I think in that sense, but I think like you guys talked about it, this is not the biggest problem
6:13
that the senators have. Yes. It's one of them, but they got to be way better defensively. If
6:17
they're going to have a chance, even with all market net. Yeah. I think the biggest stat that
6:22
jumps out to me that this trade had to happen was the fact that 22 times in the 2023, 24 season
6:30
the Ottawa senators allowed a goal on the first two shots of the game. That's not a system issue
6:35
That's a goaltending issue. Um, there's, that's kind of the biggest rebuttal to that argument. I
6:40
think, um, you just like first two shots of the game and you're already down that just can't
6:46
happen. Um, and we saw it with the Oilers in the playoffs. They allowed that, um, a handful of
6:51
times and it bit them quite a few times. So, um, yeah, it's it's goaltending certainly needed a
7:00
massive upgrade, but you're right. They do still need to fix the defense. They need to fix the team
7:04
defense and hopefully Travis green can kind of instill some of that in them. Um, he, he didn't
7:09
do that in Vancouver, but hopefully he's grown a little bit since. Um, but yeah, it's, it's a team
7:17
effort, but goaltending needed to be a change. Yeah. Oh, I agree. I like it. This is a massive
7:23
upgrade from corpus, all massive upgrade from Talbot. Um, it's probably back to where they'll
7:28
peak Craig Anderson. I mean, this is, this is probably what you're looking at with all mark
7:34
Um, he is a younger goaltender, so he's going to be here longer. Uh, you're hoping that an extension
7:39
can be done with them because yeah, he's got that one more year. You'd better have that. I was
7:44
hoping that it was going to be extension involved in the trade because then you have a bit more
7:48
security. But, um, the fact that, I mean, there's been, like you said, conflicting reports that he
7:55
he did wave is no trade or he didn't wave snow trade. So did he want to be here? We'll have to
8:01
just see if he signs a long-term. I mean, that's answered, but, um, I think that's the biggest
8:05
question now is that he's got to be extended because this trade can't be just for one year
8:11
Yeah. He, I mean, he's ineligible for an extension right now. Um, he can't sign until July 1st. So
8:16
a lot of people are up in arms about that, about how there's no extension, but he physically
8:20
cannot sign when there might be a handshake deal in place. Um, what do you think would be a good
8:24
extension for him? Uh, in my mind, it's five years, $7 million. Would you be happy to give him that
8:31
I mean, that's a ballpark of where he probably would fall. I mean, goaltenders right now, let's, for a starter, you're going to have to pay at least that
8:40
I you're looking at like Thatcher Demko. I think he's at a six mil. He's a really budget though. I
8:45
mean, it's probably one of the budget, more budget-friendly, uh, goaltending contracts
8:49
for a starter, but I think 7 million is probably a good number. Uh, and I think he probably would
8:57
sign something at that. I think he would probably sign like that in Boston if he was the main
9:01
starter there. So yeah, I like that. I like that 7 million number. Yeah. And it's the five years
9:08
is going to take him until he's 35, 36. And that's, that's a good age to sign a goaltender
9:12
until, cause then another two year deal after that makes sense. Cause goalies usually run a
9:16
little bit longer than, um, skaters do. So, um, just looking at some of the historical numbers
9:24
of Ottawa senators, goaltenders, I don't think that there is a goalie that Ottawa has ever had
9:30
to this pedigree. Um, like Dominic Hashick was 41 when he came, you can argue that, um, he still
9:36
had a nine 25 save percentage in half a season. Uh, Ron Tugnet had a nine 25 year. Craig Anderson
9:43
did have one nine 26 year and a nine 23. Um, but number seven on the list is Anton Fordsberg
9:50
Like Ottawa has historically not have had good goalies career-wise based on the age. I don't
9:57
think there's been a better acquisition than, uh, Lena Solmark on paper, at least obviously
10:02
that can blow up in my face very quickly saying that. Um, but Craig Anderson was 30 years old
10:07
when Ottawa acquired him. So it's, it's more than possible to see, um, Lena Solmark have a very good
10:14
career in Ottawa. Yeah. Well, one thing about all Mark, I think he's, he's in that prime years
10:21
right now for a goaltender. And I think this is probably the best time to get them. Uh, and that
10:26
he's established himself in the league. He's, he probably has quite a few years still, uh, of being
10:32
a really good goalie. And if he can play at the same level, he was in Boston. Um, you're hoping
10:38
that I'm sure everyone's hoping that he plays to the Vezina trophy caliber, like he did last
10:43
season. Cause that'd be amazing. Yeah. But I mean, just being good, I think, I think that's just
10:51
all the senators need is just make the saves that you're supposed to don't be, you don't have to be
10:56
amazing and just, just make saves. I think that's what all Ottawa needs right now. Yeah. He
11:03
all Mark's career over he's played in parts of nine seasons and he only has one season with
11:08
uh, save percentage lower than a nine 13. If Ottawa was getting a nine, 10 save percentage
11:14
out of them, they're, they're laughing and they're in a much better position than they were last year
11:18
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, and now Foresberg will be the backup. That's a, that's a good tandem
11:23
I think. And now because you got rid of Corpus, all of that problems solved because everyone
11:29
you know, we're talking about, Oh, bring in a goaltender. We still have Corpus, Salo. What are you gonna do with Foresberg? Well, now it's a good, good tandem there
11:35
And Foresberg can play be an adequate backup. He's shown that he can be that's a good tandem now
11:42
Yeah. It's, it's a fantastic thing. I'm going to get in Tom Foresberg. He had a nine 17 season
11:47
in Ottawa and he has not played on a good Ottawa team. Like he really carried them through, um
11:53
being last in the league in his second year in Ottawa. So, um, and that's what earned his three
11:58
year, um, contract at 2.75 million. So, uh, that's aging pretty well. Um, certainly no issues with
12:05
Anton Foresberg. Would you like an upgrade? Maybe sure. But no issues with this. No. Um
12:11
so a few more rumors about the trade. Boston was really pushing for Shane Pinto. And what I find
12:16
really, really interesting about that is you look at the trade that actually went through, um, again
12:22
it was Corpus, Salo, the first round pick and Mark Castle. Like, I don't know if that package
12:29
is worth as much as Pinto. Like I, the cost to dump Corpus, Salo. I, I don't know. I think if
12:39
you put Shane Pinto in there, that's a more valuable asset than those three together
12:46
Yeah. I mean, if Pinto was involved in it, I think then you're looking at, okay, that
12:50
that makes sense. I, and the fact that no real big asset went in this trade. I mean
12:56
yeah. First round pick. I mean, I, you could argue that's a big asset, but I thought there
13:01
was gonna be something else and a Pinto being involved chikrin. I, I would say, yeah, that
13:08
that would be good. And I don't know. I maybe just ought to, we didn't want to get rid of Pinto
13:13
Then I would think that Boston would say, well, no, we can get, we can get something better from
13:17
another team, but I guess, I guess they figured this is good. Yeah. Well, and it sounded like
13:23
it came down to Ottawa was the front runner since the deadline for Olmert, but Vegas and
13:29
Detroit were in on the talks too. And like, I just can't wrap my head around the fact that nobody
13:35
could put a package better than that together. Yeah. I would think the Redwings would have been
13:39
able to put something better, but maybe they wanted a goaltender return. Yeah. I don't know
13:46
But even then, like you put Alex Lyon in there. Yeah. Or even if you're going with a prospect
13:52
like, I don't think people would be too eager about it, but I don't think Sebastian Coase would
13:58
be completely off the table. If you're acquiring the guy that won the Vesna last year. No, I mean
14:03
again, that wouldn't be a piece that would make sense to me being in this, but yeah, I don't
14:08
understand it from the Broome side at all. Again, that could come by, come back to bite people kind
14:14
of were skeptical about the Andrew Rakoff for two garras trade and Boston seems to be good at getting
14:21
rid of goaltenders that aren't good anymore without bleak knowing. So I don't know. I don't
14:27
expect that Lena's homework is just going to suck now. That's just not how it works. No
14:32
but history shows that that's how it works in Ottawa. So who knows? So in some other trade rumors, the Ottawa senators and Philadelphia flyers
14:43
we talked about this a bit last week, but it still sounds like they have a bit of a deal
14:47
in the works. I wonder if that's where Jacob Chickren is going to land. There's been a lot
14:51
of rumors about Ottawa moving back to 12th or maybe not even taking 12th at all and just trading
14:58
for or trading the seventh overall pick to the flyers because the flyers it's been public
15:04
information now for a week, week or two that flyers want to get into the top 10, but would
15:10
also like to top 12 picks. So is there a scenario that Ottawa gets rid of the seventh overall pick
15:16
without getting the 12th back? I don't know. I think that would take a lot. Maybe it's Joel
15:21
Fairby and Morgan Frost. I don't know how the cap works with that without looking at their numbers
15:25
but the flyers also have the 32nd overall pick. Is there any other assets you're looking at
15:33
from the flyers that could be of interest to Ottawa? Well, I mean, you guys mentioned a few
15:38
names on the last episode. I think, you know, you're looking at guys like Fairby, you know
15:44
Konekny. I think I really like that. Konekny coming back to Ottawa. I mean, it's a big
15:51
big piece, obviously, but I mean, Chikrin or Shabbat would have to be involved in that
15:57
But I mean, now Chikrin's not in the Allmark trade. I think he is one of the pieces going
16:02
back to Philadelphia. And I mean, I think over between the two, I think it's Chikrin over Shabbat
16:12
going in there because he's much more manageable contract wise. I think he would fit a bit. I don't
16:18
know if Shabbat probably would fit well in Philly too, but I think Chikrin may fit a bit better in
16:24
Tortorella's system. So I think you're looking at a guy like Konekny. I don't like the Scott
16:31
Lawton thing. I mean, I don't think he's that high of a, especially if Chikrin's involved in the
16:37
trade, you're not getting Lawton back. I'm maybe one of the pieces, but I think you're looking at
16:41
a Konekny. Farabee. I mean, maybe Travis Sanheim. I really like Farabee or Konekny in this one
16:50
Yeah. And I mean, you look at the value that a seventh overall pick has. I mean, you just have to look at Ottawa's trade history. It's Alex Debrinket. We don't see
17:01
it wouldn't be a surprise to see someone like Travis Konekny get moved for the seventh overall
17:04
pick and a couple other assets or whatnot. But like you mentioned their defense, I don't think
17:12
it's going to be Thomas Shabbat going to contract. Like you mentioned, it's just so much harder to
17:17
move. And yeah, I don't know. They don't have the pieces that Ottawa really needs right now
17:25
outside of Konekny and Farabee. And you mentioned Scott Lawton. When I heard in the season that
17:33
the asking price for Scott Lawton was a first round pick. I don't know if I was drinking something
17:38
but I would have spit it out if I was. It was like, I don't understand the hype at all. He's
17:44
a good third liner. He's an average third liner. Like he's a 35, 45 point guy. He's physical
17:52
He's terrible defensively. Like there's so many players that fit that bill. Like I would even
17:58
just look at what Edmonton has. Like I would rather bring in Warren Fogle that like, I don't
18:05
know, I don't get the hype at all. And people are saying that he has so much value. Don't understand
18:10
it. Ottawa could find so much better in free agency. Lawton. I've never really, like, there's
18:16
been talk about him being traded to the Canucks at points too. And it's like, and it's always a
18:21
first round pick. And I'm like, he's not worth the first pick. I don't, I don't get it either. I don't
18:28
mean he was good for a bit there. It seemed like he had a bit more upside, but he's kind of fallen
18:33
off. And now he is that middle six guy. I mean, not worth the first rounder for sure
18:41
Yeah, there, there's going to be some movement in Ottawa's kind of middle six or bottom six
18:45
depending on where, how you look at things. Matthew Joseph is expected to be traded before
18:49
the draft and we're just counting down the hours now until draft day. So it's, it seems like they're
18:55
trying to move Joseph to bring in Brandon Tanev. It's not going to be a trade for each other, but
19:02
I think it's fine. I don't really have an opinion on that kind of movement because I think that's
19:08
just a change of personnel rather than upgrade or downgrade. The contract is pretty similar
19:15
3.5 for Tanev and 2.95 for Joseph. Joseph has the extra year, of course. I don't really understand
19:23
it other than bringing Brandon Tanev in to be a convincing piece to bring in Chris Tanev and
19:29
free agency. If that's the plan, I'm fine with that, but I don't know. It's whatever. Do you
19:34
have any thoughts on that? I think it, like, I agree. I think it's a lateral move. I think
19:40
you're bringing in same for same. I mean, yeah, I think maybe Brandon Tanev is a bit more physical
19:45
and a bit more of that energy guy, but I think the biggest thing is to say, you know, come
19:52
you can't get Brandon to recruit Chris to come over to Ottawa or wherever. But even then
19:59
I mean, would he? I mean, I'm not really sure on family things. It's like, well
20:06
why didn't he go and sign in Seattle then when he was a free agent last time? Because Brandon
20:12
was there when he was, I believe, he was there. Yeah, he would have been
20:17
Yeah. So, I mean, I don't know if it's as big of a thing. I mean..
20:21
That's a really good point. Right. Yeah. So, yeah, it's that's something that could happen. Keep an eye on that. But
20:30
at this point, until something starts to happen, I'm not too focused on that. But back to some
20:36
Jacob Chickren talks, there does seem to be a couple of other teams linked
20:40
including the Florida Panthers, Vegas Golden Knights and Nashville Predators. Pretty interesting teams. It's..
20:50
Jacob Chickren seemed really excited to leave the West and the South. He was happy to go to
20:57
Ottawa. He was happy to be there, obviously, with his grandfather around. He played really good
21:04
He just doesn't fit in Ottawa. So, I wonder, he was born in Florida and grew up there partly
21:10
I wonder if there's a fit there. There's some questions about Brandon Montour. He's still
21:14
unsigned, pending unrestricted free agent. Is there any assets from Florida that you look at
21:20
that could come back for Ottawa? Yeah. Florida is an interesting one
21:25
because they've got some, of course, some issues to deal with themselves with, like you say
21:30
with Montour. I would assume they want to re-sign Sam Reinhart. That's going to cost a lot of money
21:36
You know, bringing in a guy like Chickren with that money, are you replacing? Are you saying
21:42
well, we want to replace Montour with Chickren? Because that's what you're doing, because you're
21:48
going to have to sign Montour with a lot of money, too. And they do got some... I'm not sure about
21:54
pieces, though. I mean, the Panthers have... For what you'd be getting for them, are you looking
22:00
at Anton Lundell in there? I mean, he's a restricted free agent. That's going to cost a
22:05
lot of money for Florida, too. They may have to trade him. They may have to trade his rights. I
22:10
would like Lundell. I think he'd be another... He'd be a great guy. He's looking like a mini
22:16
Alexander Barkov at this point. And I think I'd actually target him if you're going in that trade
22:24
Yeah, I'm a huge Anton Lundell fan, and I completely agree. The rumored asking price
22:29
for Chickren right now is a first round pick plus a second round pick or a high-end prospect
22:34
I'm sure they would be more than happy to take Lundell back in a trade if that's what it came
22:38
down to. Before yesterday, I would have said Spencer Knight to be part of that trade. As of
22:47
yesterday when they won the Stanley Cup, Spencer Knight's basically dead cap to them. He's making
22:51
four and a half million and didn't play in the NHL. So it's really interesting to see kind of
22:59
what teams have to offer. Same as the Nashville Predators. There's nothing really standing out
23:05
unless you're going after Luke Evangelista or if you're just going for picks and prospects
23:10
I don't know. There's so many possibilities when you have a player as good as Jacob Chickren making
23:16
only 4.6 million. And teams that are in the position of Florida where they just won the
23:23
Stanley Cup. I know that was the second biggest news yesterday after the Olmert trade. But
23:30
won the Stanley Cup. They have so many free agents. They don't have a ton of money
23:35
Generally, their cap situation is pretty good. They're just going to have a hard time this summer
23:42
Can Ottawa take advantage of that and say, listen, you can have this guy kind of like you were
23:46
talking about a replacement for Brandon Montour. You can have Jacob Chickren and he's making half
23:50
of what Brandon Montour would be. And we can even retain a little bit if we have to
23:55
Yeah. I think that's the thing. I mean, Montour is going to be what? 8 million
24:02
That's probably what he's going to cost. And you get Chickren. I mean, arguably he's not as good as Montour, especially how he's been in Florida the last few years
24:10
But I think he'd be a good replacement. He probably won't bring as much offense as Montour
24:19
has lately. But he is that good two-way defenseman. I mean, obviously I say two-way
24:25
and probably a center stance. He wasn't good defensively. But I mean, before he was
24:31
I mean, it seems like that's what he is. But I don't know. It just doesn't seem like he fits
24:37
in Ottawa. And I think that's probably why he hasn't played as well. Could he be better in Travis Green's system? Maybe. But I think he's probably getting traded
24:48
so probably won't find out. Yeah. I will say that Jacob Chickren did
24:53
outscore Brandon Montour last year, but didn't play 15 more games. Yeah. Montour was injured, I think, for a bit of last season, right
25:00
Yeah. He missed the start of the season after surgery, after last playoff playoffs
25:05
But he had 70 plus points last season. Yeah. It's really interesting because is he the 40 point guy he's been on pace for for two of his
25:14
seasons in Florida or is he a 75 point guy that he was last year? It's tough. Yeah
25:23
But do you look at Jacob Chickren and say he can bring similar things to what Montour brought in
25:28
two of his three years here? Or do you say, I'm going to take a big bet on Montour and say
25:33
I hope you're a 70 point guy again. It'll be just a flash in the pan
25:38
Everything kind of went right for him that season. I don't think he's a 70 plus point
25:41
defenseman. I think he's a 50, 45, 50 point guy. But I don't know. I think the injuries
25:49
definitely derailed that last season, even though it was only 15 games. But when you can't start a
25:54
season and get on that role that he did in the last season, I think that could still throw a
26:00
wrench in things. And yeah. Yeah. And I mean, it's more than 15 games. It's preseason. It's
26:05
training camp. All that just getting up to speed with everything. So yeah, no, I completely agree
26:11
But what about the Vegas Golden Knights? That's kind of the last talking point that we're going to
26:16
have is if Jacob Chickren is going to Vegas, what would you like to see come back
26:22
The one thing about Vegas is like, they're again, they're a team that's really cash strapped. I mean
26:28
they probably won't be able to resign Marcia. So obviously they probably want to
26:34
Defense. I mean, I don't know. I'm looking at Shea Theodore at this point. I mean
26:40
they've got some really good depth defensively. Yeah. Theodore's got some. He's a pretty expensive
26:48
defenseman too. But I would really like to see Shea Theodore in Ottawa. I think he'd be really
26:54
good. And there has been talk about him being on the block. I don't know if that's an overpay
27:00
for Chickren because he's obviously, I think Theodore's a much better defenseman than Chickren
27:05
is. But I'd be looking at a guy like that. I don't think Ottawa should be looking at
27:13
prospects or picks for Chickren. I think getting a guy that's going to play and either replace him
27:18
or get a forward or something. But for me, I'd be looking at Theodore. Yeah, I think Ottawa would
27:24
definitely have to be adding to that trade. For sure. Yeah. But I think that if they could target
27:29
Shea Theodore to play on the right side, they would be laughing. And even if they can make
27:35
a huge deal and end up sending Forsberg for Thompson as well. Just change of scenery for
27:41
both goaltenders, really. Yeah, I think that there could be a trade there. And then they have
27:49
some forwards like Paul Cotter. Wouldn't mind seeing him come over in the trade. He was pretty
27:53
solid on the fourth line. And Ottawa has a couple empty spots there now. Brett Howden, Keegan
27:59
Colasar. These are some quality players that Ottawa could really be targeting and could really
28:04
upgrade their bottom six. Yeah, I like those those ones. I mean, yeah, I agree. I think
28:10
like I say, Theodore is a way better defenseman than him. I think you're going to have to add something to it to get him. But it seems like he's on the block. I mean, obviously, there could be
28:19
other teams involved in that, too, because, I mean, he's a great defenseman, but they got to
28:24
shed cap, especially if they have to. They want to resign some of their guys that are coming up
28:30
And Marsha, so seems like that they're wanting to obviously want to get him back because he's
28:35
been great for him. Yeah, I mean, he won the conspiring. How much better can you really be
28:40
Right. If I had to make sense, it's silly prediction season. If I did have to make a
28:46
prediction, Shea Theodore will be traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Mitch Marner. Yeah
28:51
I see it. Yeah. Yeah, that's kind of what I picture. I don't want it. I don't want
28:58
Marner in this division, but whatever. Yeah, that would that would be that would be interesting
29:06
But that's going to wrap things up for this episode, a little bit of a shorter show. We're going to be doing a full Senator's mock draft Dayton and I next later this week
29:14
I guess it'll be up on the day of the draft. We're going to go through all that. There's
29:20
a whole bunch of draft content on the YouTube channel. Make sure to go check all that out and we'll see you next time
