'DIG UP 355 RUSSIAN BODIES' SAYS LVOV MAYOR #news #ukraineconflict #russiaukrainewar #shorts Description Shocking news following the Istanbul peace talks as a Russian press conference exposes a controversial proposal by the Lvov Mayor in Ukraine. The Mayor dug up 355 fallen WWII soldiers from the Hill of Glory and offered to exchange these war heroes for Ukrainian bodies held by Russia. Both countries now face public outrage and fresh debate. Russian officials quickly labeled the plan “half-baked.” Why would someone dig up Allied war heroes for an exchange? The story also covers rumors that Ukraine doesn’t want the bodies back because it might mean more pension and lump sum payments to families. This video breaks down what happened, the politics behind it, and what this means for the families left behind. Leave a comment with your thoughts—should this kind of exchange ever happen? TRANSCRIPT As regards the press conference by Russian representative Medinski after the Istanbul peace talks after the last the third round he was questioned about a proposal by Lavov Mayor Sardovi and this Mayor - you cannot make this up the mayor has exumed 355 bodies of World War two mortalities on the Russian side. He's removed them from a hill in Lvov which is called the Hill of Glory. The Russians went into this area when it was German occupied and they kicked out the Germans and obviously these were the soldiers who died in that process defending both Ukraine of course as it was part of Russia at that time and this Mayor it seems without any agreement from anybody decided to exume these heroes of the Second World War. Don't forget this war. These were allies. So he decided to dig up these 355 fallen heroes and offered to exchange them for Ukrainians from the Russian side. It's kind of totally out of context. As I think Russia has already stated, they don't want to have any of these bodies. It costs a lot of money to keep them in refrigeration to look after them. And they don't want to waste Russian taxpayers money on this process. Happy to return them I think is uh all you can say. Uh this idea uh Middki did comment. He called this idea half-baked. I think was the translation given by the interpreter at the time. Halfbaked idea. I'm not going to comment on that. What do you think about that? Digging up war heroes to exchange them when the bodies that they want to be exchanged are on offer and will be returned immediately. In Russia, there is a little bit uh call it propaganda, call it uh conspiracy, I don't know. But there's quite a lot of traction to a story about Ukraine not wanting these bodies. They don't want the bodies back because of course if they get the bodies back they have to pay widows' pensions and lump sums. I don't know - whatever the agreement is. Money doesn't come out of Ukraine. It only goes in. Bye for now.
