Surviving on £1 in Denmark

Hi guys welcome back to the channel. Today we are in Denmark and we're surviving on one pound

Now Denmark is an expensive country so having just one pound for breakfast lunch and dinner

is almost like mission impossible but we're gonna give it a go

all right so one pound is about eight danish krona but after you get shafted by the exchange

company you end up with six so let's see what we can do with six kronas in denmark

all right so prices aren't too bad in here a loaf of bread is about seven

crones fruits banana apple like two one crones three crones milk about ten

crones I got six and I need to make a whole meal of that so it's a bit tricky

All right, so we're up to 10 croons and I just found a surplus food supermarket

So the rescue foods that are destined for waste and then sell it back to the public

So on their website, it says at We Foods, we sell items with damaged packaging, incorrect

labeling and expired expiration dates that would otherwise have been thrown away

Now this will for sure have some considerably lower prices, and I can finally make a meal of my 10 croons

Um, excuse me, mate. Do you know what this says? It means like a free pate

Free pate? Yeah, like made of liver. Oh, wow, in there. Yeah

Okay. What they have is like produce that either run out on day or expire or close to

Outside outside there like a sign that says free patty yeah we have a free little style it not expired

but it's past you know the date where it tastes good i guess yeah yeah is it this one yeah right

So it was a really good store, amazing initiative, but I couldn't find anything substantial that I could make a meal out of

Alright, so I did some more research and found a food sharing fridge where they rescue foods from like shops and bakeries and stick it in here for everyone to make use of

I got myself bread and some clementines. Hi guys, I made a friend whilst having breakfast

His name is Davis, he's from Latvia, he moved here for a better opportunity as we all did

Do you know any hacks in Denmark? to get some honey regularly

by collecting patents recyclable bottles, if you collect them on the streets

you can easily get that thing around about 500 kronas in the day, if you're searching for it

for 3 or 4 hours, I don't know about now for the moment time, there's less people

okay that's a really good tip I'm gonna take that all right you know what I'm

curious about me did it used to be busier than this before COVID or is it

just the same less people here oh my lord yeah oh wow all right so I

I found this recycling tank which seems to have loads of bottles in there

So I don't know what the rules are. Like just taking the bottles out and then recycling it for some crones

Oh, excuse me. Can I ask you how this works? Yeah, you take the empty bottles, put them in here

and then somebody comes and picks it up and it will all be recycled into new glass bottles

Oh, but you can usually recycle that for some crones, right? No, these are without... Oh

So wine bottles and some juice and orange bottles also They are not you don get money to turn to deliver this bag So all those bottles we have to put in here Oh okay Fair enough Thank you so much Thank you You welcome

all right so up to nine crones which is a little bit better but i'm gonna have to keep looking

all right so i found a few more bottles i can recycle but i thought why not actually leave it

there for people who actually need it to survive so i'm just gonna add that to my total which makes

15 crones so let's get lunch okay so this doesn't help a lot because the cheap options here seem to be fast

15 crones All right, so like the UK, Denmark seems to have discounted products as well

So instead of throwing these in a bin, they just stick a discount on them and sell them quicker

Now I've got 15 croons so it's really either Burger King or salad

Alright, so we've got some free samples for dessert. So I was walking across the high street yesterday and this lady stopped me and gave me a voucher

for free scoop of ice cream because it was their grand opening

Now this was yesterday but I'm going to be super cheeky and see if I can still claim this
