If you enjoy cooking outdoors, a good grass grill makes life a lot easier
0:04
They heat up quickly, give you better temperature control than charcoal, and makes weeknight grilling far less time consuming
0:11
The problem is that not every grill performs the same once cooking starts
0:15
Some spread heat evenly and stay consistent across the cooking surface, while others leave you constantly fighting hot and cold spots
0:22
And with prices getting higher and higher each year, buying the wrong one can become a pretty expensive mistake
0:28
So Consumer Reports put them to the test and we went through their rankings to bring you the 8 best gas grills
0:33
No matter your budget or backyard setup, there's a good chance one of these grills will fit what you're looking for
0:39
And if you find something you like, I'll leave links to all the gas grills in the description below
0:43
First up is the Napoleon Freestyle 365. And this is the one you get if you don't have room for a huge grill but still want something versatile
0:51
It's a three burner propane grill at around $579 and Consumer Reports gave it a $74 overall rating
0:57
That means it performed well both in lab testing and in long-term owner feedback
1:02
The standout here is indirect cooking, which earned a perfect 5 out of 5. So it can slow cook ribs or a roast almost as well as it can sear burgers and steaks
1:11
Now preheat and temperature range both scored 4, so it heats up quickly and still gives you
1:15
enough range for everything from low heat cooking to proper searing temperatures
1:19
And you're also getting 33,000 BTUs of power and around 495 square inches of cooking space
1:25
and that's going to be plenty for smaller cookouts without taking over your patio
1:29
Now the porcelain coated cast iron wave grates retain heat well and leave stronger sear marks
1:34
while the jet fire ignition uses a jet flame system that's much more reliable
1:38
than repeatedly clicking a weak starter. However, this is still a fairly basic compact grill
1:44
so there's no side burner, no rotisserie burner, and no built-in fuel gauge
1:49
But for the price, the Freestyle 365 delivers a really nice balance of performance, size, and usability
1:55
Next up is the Weber Spirit E210. And even with a simpler two burner setup, it still earned a solid
2:02
71 overall score. Heat consistency is one of the biggest highlights here, so the 340 square inch
2:08
cooking surface stays more even instead of leaving colder spots around the edges. It also performs
2:13
well with indirect cooking, which is useful for foods that need slower cooking away from direct
2:17
flame. Now Weber focused a lot more on ease of use, and the perfect 5 out of 5 convenience score
2:23
really reflects that You can quickly check fuel levels with the built gauge roll the grill around easily on all four casters and slide out the grease tray for easier cleanup afterward And for cooking performance the porcelain cast iron grates retain heat well while the flavor bars add extra flavor from drippings
2:40
And it also includes an electronic ignition system to keep startup quick and easy
2:44
Now the weaker areas are preheat speed and high heat performance, both scoring 3 out of 5
2:50
So while the 26,500 BTUs are enough for everyday grilling, this isn't really built for aggressive searing
2:57
Up next is the Weber Genesis II E315, and it sits at around 829, with three burners and 485 square inches of cooking space
3:07
If you usually cook for more than two or three people, you'll have enough room for a full spread without the grill taking over your whole patio
3:14
The grill pushes out 39,000 BTUs, and Weber built it around their GS4 system
3:19
That includes porcelain enameled cast iron grates, stainless steel flavor tizer bars that help turn drippings into flavor while reducing flare-ups
3:27
and a grease management system that keeps things cleaner underneath. And I also like how consistently it performed across different cooking styles
3:34
Heat spreads evenly from edge to edge, so you aren't constantly rotating food to avoid hot patches
3:39
It can stay low enough for delicate foods, but it can also get hot enough when you want a proper sear on a steak
3:44
And with indirect cooking working just as well, you can slow roast the whole chicken or thick pork ribs with the lid down and walk away without babysitting it
3:52
Its Consumer Reports score is 75, so it's strong but not perfect
3:57
And the main drawback is preheat speed. You want to start it earlier before dinner
4:01
And it also skips the side burner and rotisserie setup, so the value here is cooking space, steady heat, and Weber reliability, not extra cooking stations
4:10
Up next is the Weber Summit E470. a four burner propane grill that comes in at around $2,500
4:17
At that price, it's one of the most expensive grills here, but it also brings a much more complete outdoor cooking setup
4:23
with features that go well beyond basic grilling. It gives you 468 square inches of main cooking space
4:28
plus a 112 square inch warming rack. But size isn't the only reason the grill costs so much
4:34
The bigger selling point is how many different things it can handle from one station. You can use the main grate for regular grilling
4:40
or fire up the sear station for a stronger browning on a steak. And there's
4:44
also a side burner for sauces or side dishes along with a rear infrared burner
4:48
for rotisserie cooking. And if you want a little smoke without going full smoker
4:52
mode you can add wood chips to the smoker box. Just don't expect deep barbecue
4:56
flavor here because smoke can escape pretty quickly from a gas grill Now Consumer Reports gave it a 74 overall score with every main test category landing at a 4 out of 5 So performance is strong across the board Just know that this is a big grill
5:10
At 66 inches wide, it needs a proper outdoor space, not just a small corner
5:15
But with its 10-year limited warranty and all those built-in features, the Summit E470 is worth considering
5:20
if you want a premium Weber setup. And if you want to check any of these gas grills out
5:25
I put links to all of them in the description below. Next up is the Even Embers GAS5420AS
5:31
You get 4 burners, an extra sear burner, and performance that holds up pretty well for a grill under $350
5:38
Consumer Reports measures the cooking grid at 355 square inches, and it earned top marks for spreading heat evenly across the surface
5:45
And preheating is another win here with a perfect 5, so if you like getting food on the grill without much waiting, this setup's gonna work nicely
5:53
And with a 4 out of 5 for both temperature range and indirect cooking, it isn't limited to quick burgers and hot dogs
5:59
Chicken, vegetables, and slower lid-down cooking are still on the table. You aren't paying premium money, but this definitely doesn't cook like a bargain grill either
6:07
which helps explain the stronger 73 overall score. Now the design has a few useful touches too
6:12
The glass viewing window lets you check the food without lifting lid and losing heat
6:17
while the Forecasters keeps things more flexible if your outdoor space changes between cookouts
6:22
So if your goal is fast heat, even cooking, and a lot of grill for the money, the Even Embers is a great value pick
6:29
Up next is the Monument Grills Denali D605. And this one is a larger 6-burner setup with a cooking grid at 602 square inches
6:38
If you like hosting and want everything to come off hot at the same time, then this grill is going to make that much easier
6:44
In Consumer Reports testing, it lands a solid 71 overall with excellent scores for preheating and indirect cooking, along with strong results for even heating and temperature range
6:54
And beyond the cooking performance, you also get a surprising amount of tech for around $790
6:59
The Clearview lid allows you to quickly glance at food while everything cooks, and the digital display makes temperature tracking much simpler during larger meals
7:07
Now, Bluetooth monitoring is built-in too, so you can check on the grill nearby without standing over it nonstop
7:13
And once it gets dark outside, the LED lit knobs help you spot active burners much faster
7:19
The biggest compromise here is the plastic side shelves. They work fine for lighter prep tasks, but they aren't as sturdy as stainless steel
7:26
when heavier trays or hot tools pile up. But for a budget grill that can handle big gatherings the Denali D605 is a great choice Up next is the Even Embers Gas 2660AS and this one is set up for propane out of the box though the dual fuel system also lets you convert it to natural gas later with
7:45
the proper kit. And that's a nice option if you already have a gas line outside or just don't want
7:50
to keep refilling propane tanks all the time. You also get six burners spread across a 528 square
7:55
inch cooking surface, which makes the grill easier to manage when you're cooking different foods at
8:00
once. It's simple to keep separate heat zones going and move things around
8:04
without overcrowding the grill. And the stainless steel side shelves also make
8:07
the grill feel a little more heavy-duty which fits the larger size nicely
8:11
Temperature range is really the only area where this grill falls behind a
8:15
little bit, scoring a 3 compared to mostly 4s everywhere else. So although it
8:19
heats up quickly and handles lid down cooking well, the gap between low and
8:23
high heat settings isn't quite as wide as you'd get from a more premium model
8:27
And Consumer Reports gave it an overall score of 68, mostly because the focus here is more
8:32
on cooking performance than extra features. There's no built-in fuel gauge, so checking propane levels is still up to you
8:39
You also don't get a rotisserie setup, and flare-ups can happen with greasy foods if
8:43
you aren't careful. But for around $530, I'd call this a genuinely good deal
8:48
Finally, we have the Weber Summit E670. And this is the kind of grill for people who take outdoor cooking seriously
8:55
roughly 74 inches wide, it needs a lot of space. But this is way more than just an oversized gas
9:00
grill. Cooking space comes in at 605 square inches with six burners generating 60,000 BTUs
9:07
And Consumer Reports says that's enough room for around 28 burgers at once. So for larger cookouts
9:13
you aren't constantly waiting around and grilling in waves. And beyond standard grilling, you can
9:18
experiment with searing, smoking, and rotisserie cooking. Whoever gives the rotisserie parts their
9:23
own storage space inside the cart instead of leaving you to keep track of them separately
9:27
I'm also glad that they didn't overlook the ignition system here. Each burner lights directly
9:31
at its own knob through the snapjet setup, which feels much smoother during startup. And the lighting
9:36
features help too, especially if dinner runs late. And even with all those extra features
9:41
the performance still lives up to the price. It got an 80 overall score with top level ratings
9:46
across every major category. Up to this point, nothing else we've covered feels this well-rounded
9:51
So if you cook outdoors often and have the space for something this large, the E670 wins
9:56
my vote. And that's all for today. I hope this list helped you find the perfect gas grill
