Um
0:03
I just feel like we we just um got to
0:06
execute execute the job execute the job
0:09
better. Um we just didn't execute the
0:11
way we were supposed to. So we just got
0:13
to um fix it up in the meetings today,
0:15
tomorrow going forward and and focus on
0:17
Charlotte for sure.
0:20
Hey Camori, what's been kind of the
0:23
problem in the locker room after a loss
0:25
like that? That's going to be tough for
0:27
a lot of guys to kind of recover from
0:28
that. What have you guys been doing?
0:30
Man, we just um we just move forward. I
0:33
mean, of course, we don't we don't um
0:35
we're not going to we're not going to
0:38
like just move past it. We obviously got
0:40
to correct things, but we got to move
0:42
forward and we got to um make sure we
0:44
win this week and and and take a foot
0:46
forward.
0:48
For sure.
0:48
Right.
0:50
Uh you and Andrew Simpson left the team
0:52
attack. Obviously not unusual for
0:54
linebackers, but I wonder in the scheme
0:56
is Dline supposed to try to keep guys
0:58
off of you and you guys pick the tackles
1:00
or, you know, could you just have to
1:01
make the tackles because they weren't
1:02
able to get off kind of what they were
1:04
supposed to do?
1:06
Um,
1:08
like I I mean, our scheme is our scheme,
1:11
you know. Everybody has to do their job.
1:13
Play play how they play. And hopefully
1:16
Dline makes some tackles, they make some
1:18
tackles. If we make most of the tackles,
1:20
we make most of the tackles. So, um, we
1:22
just trying to do our job for sure.
1:24
Is the scheme to kind of try to funnel
1:25
funnel those tackles to you guys?
1:27
Um, it's it's for players to make plays.
1:29
It's not it's not for the linebackers,
1:30
not for the D lines. It's for everybody
1:32
to make plays, man. For sure.
1:34
On the left,
1:36
Adam Smith,
1:39
I wanted to ask you about
1:40
the team, the UNCC team that you saw the
1:43
other night against TCU compared to the
1:45
team
1:46
that you might have thought you were
1:48
coming out of camp. Yeah.
1:50
Was there a drastic difference there in
1:52
terms of the way you guys played um as a
1:56
team the other night compared to how you
1:58
thought we would be coming out of camp?
1:59
I think um I I think I think when we
2:02
were when we were doing good, we were
2:04
looking very good and when we when we
2:06
had our lows, we were we were low. So,
2:08
um I feel like if we pick up I mean
2:10
there there's obviously things to work
2:12
on obviously, but if we pick up from the
2:14
good things and correct the things we
2:16
got to work on, we could be a really
2:17
good team. You know what I'm saying? So,
2:18
we're we're just trying to um you know,
2:20
just just stack days. Like I said
2:22
earlier, we got to just keep stacking
2:24
our days. We going to get better for
2:25
sure. That that that's no question. It's
2:27
a no-brainer. We going to get better and
2:29
we we just got to be better for sure.
2:35
Hey, Michael.
2:38
Um the short week from Monday to
2:40
Saturday is a pretty unique challenge in
2:42
college football, but you feel like it's
2:43
a good thing coming off of Monday's game
2:45
where you can get back on the field
2:47
pretty quickly and flush uh what
2:48
happened.
2:49
I feel like it's a great thing. Um we're
2:51
not going to look at it as a negative.
2:52
We're going to look at it as man, we we
2:54
getting back on that field. We getting
2:55
back we get to flush everything out like
2:56
you said and we get to um you know, go
2:59
out there and do what we're supposed to
3:00
do for sure.
3:02
in the back right
3:04
from the RL. Um, now with hindsight, do
3:08
you think that just all the attention
3:10
and hype had maybe a possible negative
3:13
effect on you guys in the first game?
3:14
And how do you think that can be learned
3:16
going forward?
3:17
Nah. Um, I don't think any of that
3:19
really affects most of the guys around.
3:21
Um, we just we just try to um keep keep
3:23
what's in the building in the building.
3:25
um anything else u media and things like
3:27
that. We guys let you guys handle all
3:29
that and we just we just make sure we're
3:31
doing our job and trying to um execute
3:33
for us. You know what I'm saying?
3:36
Uh no West 24/7. You played the most
3:39
snaps out of anyone on defense going
3:41
into a short week. Is that something
3:42
that affects you and how do you have to
3:43
alter your recovery process throughout
3:45
the week?
3:46
Um I'm just making sure I stay on top of
3:47
my body. I got um just get my treatment.
3:49
I'm feeling good. I'm feeling ready to
3:51
go. I'm not I'm not injured. So, I'm I'm
3:54
feeling good. I'm ready to go. Ready to
3:56
play with 76 more for sure.
3:58
Hey, Rob backable observer. What's the
4:01
attitude been around you guys with with
4:03
reviewing film so far? And what were the
4:06
biggest issues you noticed defensively
4:07
coming out on Monday?
4:09
Um I just the attitude around here has
4:11
been just eager to get back on that
4:13
field and correct everything to be
4:15
honest. Um that that's been the the
4:17
attitude and um biggest biggest thing on
4:20
defense is fundamentals. We got to get
4:22
our fundamentals holding in our
4:23
fundamentals and and and do our job. So,
4:26
if we're able to just do your do your
4:27
111th and go out there and execute what
4:30
what what we we're told to execute,
4:33
we'll be we'll be better for sure.
4:35
Front Mario case
4:38
and one of the things M Johnson said
4:39
after the game was that felt like you
4:41
guys didn't really communicate that well
4:42
as a team. Um how do you think what was
4:45
your opinion on that and do you feel
4:46
like there's a way that you guys can go
4:47
about changing that?
4:50
Um, I think communication can always be
4:52
better. Regardless if it was good, it
4:53
can always be better. So, yeah, he's
4:55
right. We We have to um communicate
4:57
better. Um, that that's as a whole.
5:00
Defense for sure. Communicate better.
5:02
Um, yeah. Yeah, I think he was right.
5:06
Middle here.
5:07
So, with the news observer, um, you
5:09
talked about just the fundamentals a
5:11
second ago. We asked coach Bich about
5:13
that as well. He said it's not an issue
5:15
from the middle there. It's just the
5:17
consistency and executing,
5:19
right? Where did you maybe see that on
5:22
Monday? If you could give us an example
5:24
or two of that from a players
5:25
perspective.
5:26
Um I don't have an exact play or thing
5:30
where where fundamentals weren't used.
5:32
I'm just like he said um we started off
5:34
very good as y'all see. We had a um good
5:36
drive opening up. Started off great. 7-0
5:39
went up 7-0. Got a quick stop and then
5:42
once they got uh like I I'll say like a
5:44
penalty. I think it was a PI or
5:46
something like that. Um it kind of like
5:48
shut energy down a little bit. So um
5:51
maybe maybe fundamentals would left
5:53
there but no exact play. But yeah,
5:59
coach told us a few minutes ago that
6:01
often was a lot of guys did their job
6:03
undergoing and that's how things kind of
6:06
bust in place and so forth. Was that
6:08
most of the problem? It was maybe 10
6:10
guys, nine guys did what they were
6:11
supposed to but it was an issue maybe
6:13
one or two. Does that make it an easier
6:15
problem to fix than maybe appears on the
6:17
surface.
6:19
Um, I'm not really counting who who who
6:22
did who who had great fundamentals on
6:24
one play and who didn't on on another
6:26
play. Um, I think I think all around we
6:28
can be better. Um, from the front from
6:31
to the linebackers to the corners to the
6:32
D to the safeties. We all can be better
6:35
and at fundamentals and being more
6:37
consistent for sure. to narrow it down.
6:39
I mean, does it look does it seem to you
6:41
like an easier situation to fix that
6:44
than maybe it appears in the surface
6:45
people who are not in this building?
6:47
Um, it's going to take work for sure,
6:49
but it's not as I mean the scores
6:52
scoreboard was a scoreboard, but it is
6:55
it's going to it's going to get fixed.
6:56
So whether it's easier hard or or it's
6:58
hard, it will get fixed and it will be
7:00
better for sure.
7:01
Yeah.
7:05
Last one. Go ahead. Um just to I guess
7:08
follow up on that. Um I want to ask
7:12
about just like one play that you had
7:14
that's you know a highlight with um
7:17
killed cost and the interception. I know
7:18
that you were kind of involved there.
7:20
Yeah.
7:20
Um could you tell me just about what you
7:22
saw on that play? Maybe that's an
7:24
example of where you know something went
7:26
well for you guys.
7:27
Yeah. Um, so Caleb was supposed to be
7:30
blitzing, gave me the call, I blitzed,
7:32
and then quarterback bubbled it over and
7:34
it was a good interception by Caleb. But
7:37
yeah, great great great play by Caleb
7:39
and and yeah, that's really it for sure.
7:43
Thanks, guys. Yeah.
