I think pH try to match it try TOS all
0:04
balls and the long re routs you know I
0:06
think they a tougher team uh and just
0:08
you know grabing the boards you know
0:10
just kind of was tough so just got nice
0:13
physicality the challenge of obiously
0:15
check big guy number zero he was able to
0:17
you know got looks from three and
0:20
obviously rebounding just a little B the
0:21
challenges that
0:22
heed just you know 72 guy that can make
0:25
shots you know out on the perimeter and
0:27
you know he's very skilled the block you
0:29
know just really tough and how we trying
0:31
to cover him knowing our defens is
0:33
principles um you know as C is tough you
0:36
have a guy who can you know sech the
0:37
floor like that and also has game on the
0:39
down low so we just you know we just
0:41
pretty just hard kind of message with
0:42
that you know just got to take on the
0:43
challenge you know where is this team
0:45
right now what's the level of
0:47
frustration what's the concern if you
0:48
look ahead what you guys need to achieve
0:50
to get into the incid of tournament are
0:52
you at the point you're worry about that
0:54
right now no I think we just going know
0:56
continue to stay together you know I
0:58
take it one game at a time you know we
1:00
can still B off of this uh learn a lot
1:02
you know we can still have a chance of
1:04
going on the run you know having a great
1:06
chance of you know I'm seeing what's
1:07
down the road for us you know make it a
1:09
tournament things like that but we're
1:10
going to take it one game at a time you
1:11
know let's going learn from this game ST
1:13
move forward get ready for Saturday so
1:15
what are a couple things that jump out
1:16
that you can learn from this uh just
1:18
physicality you know just try to play at
1:20
our own pace on offensive end and uh you
1:22
know just sticking to our our principles
1:24
on defensive back what did you guys talk
1:27
about after the pit game on Saturday
1:28
that was a quick turn around but was
1:30
there anything you carried over to this
1:31
game as a team or as performance wise
1:34
yeah U I think it was just uh really
1:38
just you know trying to get good shots
1:39
in our offensive end um I think we just
1:41
trying to limit the turnovers you know
1:44
so we can get great shots and other
1:45
great offensive possession I think
1:47
that's something that we try to carry
1:48
over this game I believe we did a little
1:49
bit of that in the first half you know I
1:51
think it was just kind of struggle with
1:52
that in the second half but you know I
1:53
think that's some that think definely go
1:55
what you guys hope to accomplish with
1:57
Jay Wick just starting uh maybe help
2:00
with the rebounding was that the main
2:01
goal yeah with you know guys who just
2:03
physical you know have like you know
2:05
size advantages you know we just try to
2:06
start you know me and Jay Withers you
2:08
know just to match up to the you know
2:10
the highight competition you know so
2:11
just trying to you know help us out on
2:13
on the offensive rebounds and defensive
2:15
rebounds so we can get get going in
2:17
offensive event V even when you guys
2:19
would fall behind by big margins earlier
2:21
in the season November December you
2:24
always fought back it seemed like you
2:25
always played like your air was the fire
2:28
that doesn't seem to be the case
2:30
sometimes now when you guys get down I
2:31
mean do you feel like this team has lost
2:34
some of its
2:35
fight I I don't think so I think that
2:37
fight is still there you know we just
2:39
got to just you know dig inside
2:40
ourselves and just trying to find it you
2:41
know just trying to break it out uh it
2:43
it's there you know I just think that
2:45
just having a large deficit like that
2:47
can be a little you know discouraging
2:49
but we just got to you know continue to
2:50
stay together and just find it within
2:51
ourselves and to go up there you say
2:54
it's there and you sometimes just have
2:55
to find it what do you think on boxing
2:57
cuz you know as we said you've seen it
2:58
what do you think brings it out like
3:00
what do you think allows you guys to get
3:02
to that level I think it's playing
3:03
aggressive collectively you know
3:05
individually and ourselves just knowing
3:06
that you know we have it inage you know
3:08
just be confident and just you know
3:09
believe in ourselves and believe in you
3:11
know each other as a team we should know
3:13
that we have it um so I think that's
3:14
something that we just got to continue
3:15
to find and figure out one more from
3:18
them what have you seen from Ian's
3:21
struggles in the last few games what do
3:22
you think's going on there I just think
3:24
that he's going trying to find his
3:25
rhythm you know I think he's just still
3:26
trying to find his rhythm you know on
3:28
the offensive side uh which is going
3:29
come I believe that you know the way SK
3:32
player that he is he's going to find his
3:33
rhythm and just on the defensive end I
3:34
think he he's remarkable in that area
3:36
too you know I've seen something that we
3:38
seen the practice you know day in and
3:39
day out something that you know he can
3:40
definitely bring to us you know into the
3:42
game try to make it make an impact so
3:44
he's a freshman you know as we you know
3:46
going to take him some time to try to
3:47
get back to his rhythm get back to the
3:48
right path which I
3:50
believe thank you you to put you guys up
3:52
23-21 they then closed the half 28 to 10
3:56
what went wrong during that
3:58
stretch um
4:01
I just think uh like costly turnovers I
4:05
feel like our turn they were capitalized
4:06
on our turnovers a lot we would turn the
4:08
ball over and they would come down make
4:09
it three so I think that's what it was
4:13
how frustrating is it when you're going
4:14
through and like you guys went through
4:16
that with Duke they had a huge run
4:18
Clemson does something very similar how
4:19
frustrating is it in the midst of that
4:21
and how challenging is it to try to do
4:23
something to pull your team out of it
4:25
it's definitely very frustrating cuz it
4:27
happened like a couple of games and
4:30
yeah we're just focusing on again not
4:32
like making our own run been talked
4:35
about whenever you face large deficits
4:37
that it's kind of hard to bring out that
4:38
in tasty like you did earlier this
4:40
season um what makes it difficult to
4:43
bring it out now and um what can unlock
4:45
that
4:46
thing
4:52
um
4:55
um I just think like getting stops on
4:58
defense is like we need to do when they
5:00
start making runs and sometimes we can't
5:03
get stops and that's what we have to
5:04
work
5:05
hard I know coming off of that uh game
5:08
against pit a lot of you guys are
5:09
talking about the I guess the sense of
5:11
urgency needed with the final now seven
5:13
games remaining uh I guess you know to
5:16
what degree you know is that you know
5:18
still there you know that that level of
5:19
urgency you guys were talking about bit
5:21
yeah definitely that's something that we
5:23
emphasize and that's something that
5:24
we're going to um try to get up and keep
5:27
keep it up for the next couple of games
5:29
I guess like in the you know game since
5:32
since the other day did you feel that I
5:33
guess level of you know desperation you
5:35
guys were talking about like you feel it
5:37
carried over today did you feel that
5:39
some of it didn't carry over like what
5:40
really say um I felt like it carried
5:43
over in the beginning and then it kind
5:44
of dropped down towards like the end of
5:46
this first half why do you why do you
5:48
think it dropped out why do you think it
5:51
dropped out you said why yeah why do you
5:53
you said it you had it earlier but it
5:55
dropped
5:57
out I'm not sure
6:01
as the point guard of this team what do
6:03
you think is the fix for the problems
6:05
that you guys have in your eyes um just
6:08
focusing on defense I I think they were
6:10
shooting like 60% at halftime they like
6:13
the percentage that they were shooting
6:14
was kind of really hard to do and we
6:17
just I feel like our percentages on
6:19
offense are pretty good so we just need
6:21
to focus on the defensive
6:23
side defensively what made it so such an
6:25
issue guarding the perimeter tonight was
6:27
it ball movement offensive rebounds
6:31
um
6:32
yeah I think I think their Center
6:36
hitting a couple of Threes kind of threw
6:38
off our coverage and I think it was just
6:40
hard to adjust to
6:41
that thanks Elliot thank you OT
6:45
appreciate you stop right now for you
6:47
personally I'm what was your question
6:49
I'm sorry what's the level of
6:50
frustration for you personally
6:52
especially thinking about that 20 to 10
6:54
run that just kind of set the game tion
6:56
as high as it could be I mean
6:59
we know the stakes uh we know the
7:02
position we're in and just
7:04
for us to come out and get that
7:07
performance was this you guys have had
7:09
some tough outings but was this maybe a
7:12
low Point given the fact that a lot of
7:14
the Talk Saturday was playing like a
7:15
desperate team and got to bottle that up
7:17
and take it the little John but it
7:19
really wasn't there during that run it's
7:21
definitely uh some of a low point just
7:24
frustrating like you asked uh
7:26
considering you know what I just said a
7:29
couple days days ago we've had these
7:30
talks uh whatever it is but yeah it's
7:34
definitely not the performance I
7:35
expected out of out out of all of us
7:38
hson got a lot of open threes tonight
7:40
what was your problems defensively that
7:42
allowed that to happen uh he was
7:46
popping uh the big start the the the
7:50
three-point Journey for them off um he
7:52
was popping and we got a help side guys
7:54
that had a stunt but sometimes we just
7:56
couldn't get there and he really
7:57
capitalized off it and then uh from
8:01
there I mean I don't even know they just
8:03
did a really good job on R threes and
8:05
they knocked him
8:06
down about difference in sense of
8:08
urgency from the other day compared to
8:10
today you said maybe was level that you
8:13
expected I guess being around the guys
8:16
you know free game whatever can you do
8:17
you have like a sense of what type of
8:20
intensity you guys have if that
8:22
makesense like can do you have a gauge
8:23
on just how D guys I honestly thought
8:27
guys really di day I thought guys
8:29
understood
8:30
what this game meant for us I thought
8:32
you know guys understood how good his
8:34
Clemson team was
8:36
but guess not I guess not so I thought
8:39
so uh end up being wrong what are your
8:43
is that the is that the worst thing I
8:46
mean losing obviously sucks and is not
8:48
good but not having the fight is that in
8:50
your eyes is that kind of the worst
8:52
thing absolutely absolutely uh I'm not
8:57
like necessarily mad that we lost this
8:59
game I'm really upset with the fact that
9:00
we got bullied
9:02
today I think some guys responded but it
9:05
takes 15 it takes all 15 of us and we
9:08
just didn't have last one where do you
9:10
go from here I mean last kind of resume
9:14
win
9:16
um I'll be wrong if I gave any other
9:19
answer then we have to continue to fight
9:22
then we have to continue just
9:24
to try and keep building and try to
9:26
build something try and build something
9:28
in this last
9:29
uh quarter of the Season whatever it is
9:31
and then going into the ACC tournament
9:33
um I mean we know we're not in a good
9:35
position but that's I mean to put on
9:39
this jersey and just give up that's it's
9:42
not right at all so got keep thanks
9:44
everybody
