you can't have the righteous without the
0:05
ratchet
0:09
he told us that for years Tracy see
0:11
that's right
0:14
I've been hearing them say it since Real
0:16
Talk came out I've been hearing them say
0:18
it for a long time Tracy he even says
0:21
his wife is half State half City Girl
0:25
that's a live wife no offense or no
0:28
respect
0:29
have Saint have city girls I relate to
0:32
that oh my God she's got a sister
0:36
[Music]
0:38
oh my gosh
0:41
have seen half City girl but I'll call
0:44
this man a Vanguard it's hard it's hard
0:47
man I've had people speak to us we do
0:49
good news Thursday and we usually curate
0:52
a gospel record a spiritual record
0:55
something that's uplifting and we talk
0:57
about our faith and we Proclaim it loud
0:59
and clear every single week yes doesn't
1:01
matter to me what you believe
1:04
um I believe in as long as I believe in
1:07
what I believe in you know and even with
1:10
that when you're just trying to do good
1:11
and walk people into a light that's kind
1:14
of equipped you and help you through
1:16
your life you get a lot of resistance I
1:19
mean you get a lot of resistance if you
1:22
talk about a higher being if you talk
1:24
about God if you talk about your faith
1:27
why why does that bother folks so much
1:30
if it ain't even something you prescribe
1:32
to then cool go about your life but why
1:35
does that bother you so much
1:37
especially when you're in this culture
1:38
we call hip-hop
1:40
what started off as a tool of upliftment
1:43
you know of unity of having fun of
1:46
bringing people together who don't have
1:49
representation right I say this all the
1:51
time Tracy folks who felt
1:52
disenfranchised and it was a way up
1:55
not even a way out I didn't want to
1:57
leave my neighborhood I just wanted to
2:00
live a higher life on a higher quality a
2:02
way up a way out not a way out that's
2:05
why if you come to Harlem you come to
2:08
New York you see me in the middle of
2:10
Harlem if you go to Oakland you're going
2:11
to see me all over Oakland the same
2:13
places I grew up in it became a way up
2:16
when this man back in 2004 think about
2:20
the albums that were out in 2004. think
2:24
about the rap game in 2004 what was the
2:26
messaging what was the signaling you
2:29
know what was the Imaging what was going
2:31
on but he was saying real talk
2:34
through Reach Records which he
2:36
co-founded right but she co-founded so
2:41
all of this talk about proprietorship
2:43
and ownership we wouldn't have to
2:45
complain so much about these platforms
2:47
if we made our own
2:50
so and so they're they're editing out my
2:52
post
2:55
that they suspended me I got suspended
2:58
off of so-and-so's platform I can't even
3:01
exist now I can't do nothing till I tag
3:03
back in
3:05
so much control right but if you have
3:08
your own then you in control and so I
3:11
respect this man over the years he came
3:13
here he had to come up here and do a
3:15
Five Fingers of Death just so y'all know
3:17
he could rap better than you what time
3:19
it is he could rap better than you look
3:22
at all he's done when you listen to this
3:24
album I'm going off right now LeCrae I'm
3:26
sorry
3:27
hey you speaking man when I listen to
3:30
songs like Journey um
3:33
and you hear this man's Journey when you
3:37
listen to deconstruction come on
3:39
sometimes you gotta peel it apart to
3:42
build it back together again when you
3:44
hear all of these songs citizens that's
3:46
on this brand new album called
3:49
Church Clothes four yeah
3:52
when you hear spread the Ops you're
3:54
gonna think you at a strip club but it's
3:56
the messaging is different I want to
3:58
welcome him back I want to open up the
4:00
phone line citizens the enlightened one
4:03
is here yeah the one and only Lecrae is
4:06
back welcome back I'm home baby
4:09
[Music]
4:13
a real one and a good one yeah
4:22
yeah y'all who's gonna tell you
4:25
something man I'm a for real citizen too
4:27
you know I mean I'm home all the way
4:28
home I love it oh man I was so happy
4:30
when I saw the artwork on church clothes
4:33
four man looked like I've been through
4:35
it what is that like if you see the
4:37
artwork he's sitting in a room by
4:39
himself yeah look like he's been
4:41
scraping the walls with his fingernails
4:43
probably talking to people that ain't
4:45
there
4:46
I've been doing that yeah you had your
4:49
brains out you know that was crazy what
4:52
would was that symbolic it was okay so
4:54
if you if you follow the whole church
4:57
clothes uh uh series you see church
5:00
close one the best I had on the
5:01
background is hanging up Church plus two
5:03
the artwork is all over the floors trash
5:05
everywhere church close three was the
5:07
suit I got the suit on from three but
5:10
four I'm everything's tatted up because
5:13
I've been through hell you know what I'm
5:15
saying it's like if you you know I've
5:17
been through hell but I'm still here to
5:19
give you what you need you know I mean I
5:20
went through hell to give you you know
5:23
what you need so that's really what the
5:25
what the what the the theme was you went
5:27
through hell I think when you
5:29
work through the work yeah I won't even
5:32
say the church because you know we
5:34
discussed the church before yeah Church
5:36
could be different things depending on
5:38
what building you walk in we'll be
5:39
having a long convo on that one but I
5:41
feel you you feel me right I feel you
5:44
um people don't think that you go
5:46
through anything right and so when I
5:48
hear this narrative like I want to say
5:50
uh spread the Ops yeah uh no no no no
5:53
when I hear protect
5:55
I protect my piece spread the eyes for
5:57
me all of it fear not oh oh yeah yeah
5:59
yeah fear not yeah that's some that's
6:01
right I came I saw I killed uh yeah I'm
6:04
Savage I'm Savage say that line uh what
6:07
I say I lie I'm I'm a killer I'm a sad I
6:10
came I saw I killed I'm Savage yeah yeah
6:13
right and then
6:15
um you know a lie cheating and a killer
6:18
yeah I never you know it's I mean the
6:20
whole project I'm saying stuff like that
6:22
yeah stuff like that folks don't believe
6:24
you go through anything oh man yeah they
6:26
bugging because because my relationship
6:30
with God your relationship with God is
6:31
not about perfection it's not about you
6:34
being a perfect person it's actually the
6:36
reality that you not and so because you
6:39
not you need
6:41
God to walk you through the the the the
6:44
hard times and the hardship that we all
6:46
experience on an everyday basis you know
6:48
what I'm saying so that's for me I put I
6:50
like to put some skin on the faith you
6:52
know what I mean that's what I like to
6:53
do I like to like Dr King put some skin
6:55
on it it's like yeah we need to love
6:57
each other okay that's cool to say yep
7:00
but but get out there and really do it
7:02
now yeah so for me I'm like life is hard
7:05
but but I but I trust God so let me get
7:07
out here and really trust them and
7:09
instead of asking for God to give me a
7:11
like Lord just take this out of my path
7:13
I'll be like now give me feet for the
7:15
past let me go ahead and run it I know
7:16
it's gonna be hard wow okay well you
7:19
when you um and that's what I appreciate
7:21
about you because you don't give this
7:22
image of um imperfection uh when I look
7:25
at I said something earlier about what
7:27
the way the culture started and where
7:28
it's landed and I often have these
7:30
conversations about what
7:32
mute the music and how it's being
7:34
utilized and where we are now when you
7:37
see all the deaths and rap from people
7:40
who come from rap culture but we're not
7:42
blaming it strictly on the music but
7:44
we've seen a lot of rappers die yeah
7:46
we're listening to a lot of music that
7:48
has a lot of low vibration messaging in
7:50
it Hey listen if somebody has a problem
7:53
with me saying it hey that's fine it is
7:55
what it is yeah it's low vibration right
7:58
right right
7:59
um do you feel like the culture is on
8:02
its is being attacked is there you know
8:05
me and my brother talk about this
8:06
constant struggle between good and evil
8:08
do you believe in that concept of Good
8:11
and Evil and do you feel like the
8:12
culture is being attacked oh yeah we
8:15
always at War I feel like good and evil
8:16
is always a battle you know what I'm
8:18
saying we always at War and but you know
8:22
the old old heads would always say you
8:25
know if you got two dogs and and you
8:28
know both of them is in a fight which
8:30
one is going to win the good one that
8:33
one and it's whatever one you feed the
8:34
most you know what I'm saying whatever
8:36
dog you feed the most is going to win
8:38
that battle so if you're feeding the
8:39
evil more then the Evil's going out
8:40
you're feeding the good more the goods
8:42
going out and I think I think that's
8:43
what we're seeing in culture right now
8:45
it's like man we keep putting money in
8:47
that slot machine and they keep coming
8:49
back yeah you're gonna keep winning on
8:51
that on the wrong side of the tracks but
8:52
if we start feeding into the higher
8:55
vibration we start feeding into the to
8:56
what's good what's true what's pure then
8:59
we're gonna receive that back it's all
9:00
uh it's planting seeds man it's plant
9:03
seeds so were you around artists
9:05
who don't wrap around about the same
9:07
things you rap about yeah do a lot of
9:10
them come to you on the side and go man
9:12
I know we don't do the same thing man I
9:13
wish I could rap more about what you
9:15
talking about but my audience have you
9:17
ever had that oh yeah all the time what
9:18
do they say uh I mean you know someone
9:20
be like man I really I'm trying to
9:21
transition I'm trying to change like
9:23
what how do you just get all the way out
9:25
there and do it right you know what I'm
9:27
saying how what do I gotta do to just do
9:29
it and my thing is is like you do it
9:31
every day when you when you talk about
9:34
you know taking the life of your brother
9:36
you do it every day you put yourself out
9:38
there and you say some some off the wall
9:40
type stuff so if you really believe it
9:42
to me to me like
9:45
what I do is the most gangster thing
9:46
there is because I really stand on what
9:48
I'm talking about like I'm okay with
9:50
admitting I'm not perfect I'm okay with
9:51
admitting I want to see change and you
9:54
know what I'm saying it's like and and
9:56
and and it's like people respect that
9:58
they respect that you like stand on what
10:00
you believe in and you're not afraid to
10:01
say it so again I'm like man if we can
10:04
talk about all this crazy stuff and
10:07
music which I grew up on and some of it
10:08
is actual reflection of our community
10:10
and our environment so I ain't wrong I
10:12
ain't mad at that if it's an actual
10:13
reflection but at the same time let's
10:15
not let people profit off of our pain
10:18
you know what I'm saying we not
10:19
benefited from it and we're not getting
10:21
healed from it like that's crazy to me
10:23
yeah that's crazy man Lecrae is here the
10:25
new album is church closed for I think
10:28
that so much of what can make a low
10:31
vibrational song appealing is there's
10:34
many elements because there's the actual
10:37
Harmony the production you know value of
10:40
it that could be very alluring it can be
10:42
the flow that's very alluring and then a
10:44
lot of time people may not even know the
10:46
words that they're reciting yeah yeah
10:48
you know because they're just so hooked
10:49
to the size of it and so with that in
10:52
mind do you ever take the time to be
10:55
like okay what are the sounds that are
10:58
really popular right now what are the
11:00
flows that are the stickiest right now
11:02
and how can I utilize that in my craft
11:04
so that people now don't even really you
11:07
know it's kind of like the honey with
11:08
the medicine yeah you got to I think you
11:11
got to as an artist first and foremost
11:13
like if I'm if I'm Picasso or whoever I
11:16
am I'm looking at what the contemporary
11:18
artists are doing and not just sticking
11:19
with what I've always done like I've as
11:22
you keep painting and doing your art you
11:24
gonna naturally get better at it but if
11:26
you stay in the one little space that
11:29
you talented in and you don't expand and
11:31
explore you're not gonna get good at all
11:33
the other things if LeBron never learned
11:34
a Euro Step when the Euro Step came in
11:36
then you know all they're going to be
11:38
doing is the same stuff that he was
11:39
doing when he came into the league so
11:40
you got to keep expanding your
11:41
repertoire so I'm always learning and
11:43
listening to what's going on you know I
11:45
got kids too so I'm like you know my son
11:47
he was on NBA young boy and I'm like
11:49
what do you like about him right you
11:50
know what I'm saying like like this
11:51
helped me understand the ecosystem in
11:53
the world that that you you know and I'm
11:55
like oh you like the authenticity you
11:58
like the you know what I'm saying so it
11:59
may not even be the flow patterns it may
12:00
just be like the authenticity and so and
12:02
I'm like all right so part of it it says
12:04
what's my responsibility to give
12:05
authenticity but then to teach with it
12:08
so that they can pull something away you
12:10
know what I mean yeah well you
12:11
approached well Tracy was there a song
12:13
on the project that made you think of
12:15
that question
12:16
um
12:17
specifically when it comes to spread the
12:20
Ops oh yeah yeah spread the Ops yeah oh
12:23
yeah when you hear spread the Ops that
12:25
feel like I'm in the club yeah right
12:28
after Amigo's record as it should right
12:30
it Blends in seamlessly with other songs
12:32
out now and why not was that the
12:34
objective yeah I mean but why not like
12:36
that's what I'm saying like
12:37
it's hip-hop you know what I mean like
12:40
it I come like my uncles come from the
12:44
the 80s and they put me on everything
12:46
80s moving forward okay so I grew up on
12:49
hip hop everything from from NWA to
12:52
Souls of Mischief to uh to you know uh
12:56
shoot jru to damage it I like it like I
13:00
grew up on hip hop
13:01
yeah I mean so I'm still a fan of
13:04
hip-hop so I'm still going to check out
13:05
what's Lil Durk doing what's the like
13:07
for me it's about being authentic to who
13:12
I am I'm not even I'm not trying to be
13:13
nothing I'm being who I am this is what
13:15
raised me you know what I mean so it's
13:17
gonna come out naturally it's not like
13:19
I'm like so so for me it's like yeah it
13:22
should play in the club then why not
13:24
spread the Ops Lecrae is here
13:28
888-742-3345 spread the Ops Out
13:32
Who Your Ops demons or demons
13:35
those are some of them
13:40
you know this I have plenty of them as a
13:42
matter of fact some plenty of demons
13:44
some of some some of my apps are sitting
13:46
in pews yeah
13:49
he's waiting you know what I'm saying
13:51
yeah man uh Lecrae is here we're talking
13:53
about church clothes four what a
13:55
beautiful conversation we're having
13:57
right now I miss you man man and vice
13:59
versa man I love y'all yeah we love you
14:01
too when I met you you didn't have a
14:04
Grammy
14:05
me and uh Lecrae actually went to the
14:07
same college that we were talking about
14:09
it outside in the hallway we both went
14:10
to the University of North Texas and we
14:13
were joking about the uh the music it's
14:15
actually a big music school a lot of
14:16
people may not know that but it's
14:17
actually pretty uh famous for the music
14:18
department and we were talking about how
14:21
uh once you find out that there's a
14:22
music department there's a lab where you
14:24
can go in and like work on production
14:25
make beats and so it's very great for
14:28
people who want to be artists and want
14:29
to learn the ins and outs of production
14:31
and putting songs together arranging
14:32
tracks and all that stuff mixing and
14:33
mastering how important was it to you to
14:36
have access to those kind of programs
14:37
you music departments and things like
14:39
that whereas now they're trying to make
14:41
a push to have more music programs more
14:42
art programs in schools that changed my
14:44
life the music lab now mind you I didn't
14:46
go to class I skipped a lot of class
14:48
making making beats and music lab but
14:52
it gave me the direction that I needed
14:54
to move in artistically like I knew that
14:57
this was my the way I needed to move
14:59
because because I was on a full
15:00
scholarship a lot of people don't know
15:01
that I had a full scholarship um for
15:03
theater you know I mean in high school
15:05
or college College oh wow yeah I had a
15:08
full theater scholarship University you
15:09
know Texas and low-key I just went in
15:11
there and I didn't know nothing about I
15:12
really didn't understand it like that
15:14
like that they did they was just like
15:15
you can audition and I was like what I
15:17
gotta do just act so that you know
15:19
raising the sun I did a little little
15:20
thing from raising the sun it's like oh
15:22
man this guy's phenomenal he's getting
15:23
the full scholarship I had a full ride
15:25
but I was in that music lab all the time
15:28
and I was like you messed it up I was
15:30
like this ain't I'm this is where I'm
15:32
going the lady the campus nurse matter
15:34
of fact the campus nurse told me she
15:35
said baby Diddy ain't looking for your
15:38
degree and I was like dang oh my God now
15:41
now I'm not telling you don't go to
15:43
college but I'm just saying in in this
15:46
space in this industry you know what I'm
15:48
saying like that does not necessarily
15:49
have to be the traditional route you
15:51
take in order to make it into the music
15:53
you mean Diddy's not gonna ask you would
15:54
you get a degree in it
15:57
I didn't I did not the nurse told me
15:59
that the nurse told me you know what I'm
16:01
saying so Teddy ain't going did you have
16:03
the same nurse DB you remember that
16:04
nurse no I just didn't go to class
16:06
how do you need that bit of uh
16:08
information okay Carl's on the line from
16:12
San Diego the new album there you go the
16:13
new mixtape is church clothes for make
16:15
sure you get that it's out now Carl go
16:17
ahead what up Carl what's up family how
16:20
y'all doing out there what's up Carl
16:22
hey question hey so my nephew Cannon I
16:26
mean y'all you've been knowing Canada
16:27
for a long time my question is this what
16:29
does it take for you guys like you can
16:31
embizzle Derek mining all you guys to
16:34
get out and I don't say make Christian I
16:37
don't know if I'm using terms correctly
16:38
make Christian rap more out there like
16:41
if these kids can be about their heads
16:43
to uh
16:44
um uh all these this rap this Mumble rap
16:47
going on why can't they listen to
16:48
hip-hop music is it because the Avenues
16:50
are not open to you guys and the
16:52
platform you got the the you know the
16:54
status that you're at you can't make
16:55
that happen oh you want me to be real
16:57
can I be real all right I'll be real
16:59
with you my guy so end of the day if you
17:02
want to make a record if you want to
17:04
make a record about killing animals
17:05
they're not gonna play that they're not
17:07
gonna push that you want to make a
17:08
record about uh you know raping women
17:11
they not gonna play that but you want to
17:13
make a record about killing your own
17:14
people or selling drugs to them funny
17:16
they'll let us play that you want to
17:18
talk about your faith they like nah we
17:20
not trying to that's why I love it up
17:21
here as a citizen on the morning show
17:24
swaying in the morning because they play
17:26
my music they'll play our music so a lot
17:28
of it is is based off of what these
17:30
labels they they invested in in a lot of
17:33
the low vibrations and because they
17:35
invested in that they want that to play
17:36
when you start talking about change and
17:38
impact and impacting your community and
17:40
seeing them transform and so on and so
17:41
forth A lot of times that does not get
17:43
the push and and just like anything else
17:46
when kids get used to eating candy they
17:48
don't want no good food you know what
17:49
I'm saying so if we keep pushing candy
17:51
on them they're not gonna want a steak
17:53
they're not gonna want nothing good to
17:54
them so so honestly it ain't about us we
17:56
doing our job you know can embizzle at
17:59
myself we doing our job but it comes
18:02
down to you know uh the support of
18:05
Industry comes down to a lot of
18:07
different organizations and different
18:08
things and people like yourself on the
18:10
Grassroots level just spreading the word
18:11
and telling every you know telling
18:12
everybody music Carl quit complaining
18:15
you're a citizen but also Carl this
18:17
makes me think Lecrae the impact of I'm
18:20
coming in hot with Andy many years
18:22
exactly speak on because that was
18:23
tremendous yeah 2020 2021 yeah a lot of
18:27
times too you just gotta realize man
18:29
like like coming in hot was was a viral
18:31
it's the most viral song I've ever had
18:33
you know me and Andy and it was on
18:35
everybody's Tick Tock Kim Kardashian
18:36
everybody was posting it a lot of that
18:37
has to do with man you creating a
18:39
soundtrack to people's lives so when you
18:41
play a soundtrack people's lives they're
18:42
gonna rock with it and I felt like that
18:44
was where people were at the time you
18:46
know what I'm saying coming in hot yeah
18:48
but y'all did something different on it
18:49
too though man I mean you know if you
18:52
pay attention there's some stuff in
18:53
there some stuff in there
18:55
um Anthony's on the line from New York
18:57
Anthony go ahead what up Aunt
18:59
good morning family how we doing great
19:01
what's your question
19:03
my question for Lecrae is what was your
19:06
creative process during your album
19:08
anomaly because that's one of my
19:10
favorite albums of yours yeah fantastic
19:12
you know anomaly was me
19:14
um so you gotta remember I came I I
19:17
didn't become a a follower of Christ
19:19
until I was like in my like late teens
19:22
early 20s so I grew up hearing all these
19:25
classic hip-hop albums and I was like
19:28
man everybody wants me to make like
19:29
choir music or become the next Kirk
19:31
Franklin Shout out to Kirk that's my guy
19:33
but that's not the lane I wanted to run
19:35
in and so anomaly was me trying to
19:37
figure out how I can just make a dope
19:39
hip-hop album like I'll listen to you
19:42
know Aquemini or the miseducation Lauren
19:44
Hill and I was like these are two
19:46
classic pieces of work how do I combine
19:49
that and say what I want to say and I
19:50
think that was a lot of the creative
19:52
process uh thank you for your call I'm
19:55
gonna take it one more these lines are
19:56
lit up so by the way hit them up
19:57
directly what's your social justice just
20:00
at Lecrae l e c r a e follow me I'll
20:02
take you somewhere come on now there it
20:04
is Jonah's on the line he's all the way
20:05
in South Carolina what up Jonah wow what
20:07
up Joe what up Jonah hey what's up
20:10
what's up Craig what's up man it's
20:11
always a treat when players meet
20:13
[Laughter]
20:15
I just wanted to I want to start Man by
20:17
just saying thank you bro because I had
20:19
a friend man we've been friends for for
20:21
years but we ain't talking about three
20:22
years and uh we used to listen to all
20:24
the church because we listened to one
20:25
two and three together this one came out
20:28
I mean we've had three albums since then
20:29
I was able to message him I said bro I
20:31
didn't think I would ever see this and
20:33
he said bro me neither and we called
20:34
each other to listen to the tracks
20:35
together man so I just really appreciate
20:37
all that you're doing bringing people
20:38
together they had a listening party my
20:40
dog Carolina
20:43
yeah we did my question is um man when
20:47
sway was talking earlier about journey
20:48
and deconstruction man those those songs
20:49
hit deep man and I really think what you
20:52
did on those songs is you laid it out
20:53
man I'm talking you said oh man you said
20:56
I'm just mad or I'm just Adams ain't no
20:58
even ain't no Adam where does Andy's let
21:00
me at him and I was like oh my gosh like
21:02
crazy laying it out what's next for you
21:05
like you've laid it out now like what
21:07
like what's your next step like what can
21:08
we be expecting from Craig coming
21:09
forward
21:10
man just trying to boss up and and get
21:13
these younger artists popping you know
21:14
what I'm saying I'm doing my thing as an
21:16
artist as well but just trying to get
21:17
these younger artists pop and shout out
21:18
to 1K Feud shout out to what up RG shout
21:21
out to you know Andy Mineo he a veteran
21:23
but you know he still get it getting it
21:24
popping one day Hovey you know shout out
21:27
to all the youngest man limo Blaze the
21:29
newest artist we just signed straight
21:30
from Nigeria afrobeat man so you know I
21:33
mean we just I'm sure
21:39
Blaze
21:43
that leave my album goes hard it's crazy
21:46
it's crazy you got an ill ass man
21:51
yo that's about to be my AKA
21:55
I'm Swiggity AKA limo Blaze
21:59
[Applause]
22:00
sauce
22:03
we family we ain't met yet but we family
22:06
for sure thanks for your call Jonah I'm
22:08
glad you got the mixtape church clothes
22:09
for and since you brought update
22:11
construction let's take a listen to that
22:12
yes come back and have some fun there we
22:15
go
22:18
spray
22:20
DJ Mouse Steve wanted me
22:24
well before I jump into that that song
22:28
was a testimony to me I I felt like he
22:30
was in the confession Booth yeah not
22:32
just the mic Booth right there that was
22:34
a very powerful song uh Christians got
22:38
you thinking wondering if there's even a
22:40
God yeah you know Christians are
22:42
interesting
22:43
facts questions the facts are
22:46
interesting yeah say what you will about
22:48
me I grew up in
22:50
Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church in in
22:53
Oakland California say which you will my
22:56
auntie maybe read the Bible twice in
22:58
elementary I didn't understand it but
23:01
that's right I tried I I got better each
23:03
time you read it but you know you got
23:05
these folks who claim Christianity
23:09
um in these political parties the
23:12
religious parties the political parties
23:13
it's Christian nationalism all of this
23:16
yeah yeah yeah what is that and what is
23:18
I don't feel like you know it's it
23:20
seemed like a very discriminatory group
23:22
of individuals yeah that um
23:26
um and from the things I've seen yeah
23:28
this is a blanket statement for sure you
23:31
know but the idea of mixing your
23:33
politics with your religion and vice
23:36
versa making interpreted to make it work
23:38
for you but not for everyone what are
23:41
your thoughts on Christian nationalism I
23:43
don't rock with it
23:44
um I mean first of all you talking about
23:48
um if you're a Christian you're supposed
23:49
to care about the kingdom the kingdom is
23:51
made up of all people from all walks of
23:53
life all national nationalities
23:57
ethnicities and you building your Empire
23:59
instead of building a kingdom you know
24:02
what I'm saying so the nationalism
24:03
focuses on this Empire and not the
24:05
ultimate Kingdom you know I mean because
24:07
Nations crumble Rome crumbled you know
24:10
Nations crumble but but but people you
24:13
know go on and on and if you don't care
24:15
about people like and you know we love
24:17
our politics more than our people often
24:19
times so
24:20
you to me you can't really be serious
24:23
about loving your neighbor as yourself
24:26
but then you so consumed with your
24:28
nationalism that it ostracizes
24:31
disenfranchised people you know what I'm
24:33
saying and that I just can't rock with
24:34
it Lecrae is here yeah that's what I
24:37
thought about when I was listening to
24:38
this song I'm gonna take one more caller
24:41
somebody said they saw you uh Cedric in
24:43
New Orleans said he saw you before you
24:45
won a Grammy is that true Cedric yes sir
24:48
how you doing okay what's up man what's
24:50
going on Seth hey how you doing man hey
24:52
I just wanted to tell you um in like
24:55
2015 you you performed at the Barry
24:58
Center in Houston I don't know if you
25:00
remember that oh yeah I remember
25:02
I kind of walked in your locker room and
25:04
your equipment manager or somebody went
25:06
off on me but you didn't say anything I
25:08
just I just remember that and I remember
25:11
saying it with you was cool I didn't
25:14
talk to you in anything like that that
25:16
they didn't want us talking to anybody
25:18
because it would get fired but I thought
25:20
that was those man and then like the
25:22
next week or something people you uh won
25:23
your Grammy I was like yeah I'll
25:25
probably help them win that Grammy yeah
25:26
yeah let's do equating him sneaking in
25:29
my green room to be winning I saw you
25:33
won bro it wasn't for Sam's presence
25:35
there said thank you man all right
25:37
hey Lecrae didn't get to thank you on
25:40
stage go ahead and thank him now man I
25:42
would like to thank my man said for uh
25:44
you know violating all the laws and the
25:46
codes of the land in order for me to be
25:48
where I'm at today
25:51
brother uh Mount ski wanted to know uh
25:54
about this West Coast tape coming up DJ
25:57
moski what's up man hey yeah listen a
26:00
lot of people don't know you know what
26:01
I'm saying the West Coast really did
26:03
raise me you know Houston is my roots
26:05
Texas is my roots but then I I spent so
26:07
much time in in uh Southern California
26:09
as a kid so that really shaped me so I
26:12
got to put on for the West Coast man so
26:14
the tape is you know it's on the way but
26:15
but but musky I need you to secure DJ
26:18
Quick and I need you to do that okay we
26:20
need a quick on the production me and
26:22
moski did something years ago oh is that
26:25
right he'll tell you about it all right
26:26
all right well you know that's the
26:28
family we sat on the phone he actually
26:30
did a guest spot when we when we were in
26:32
L.A a couple a couple months back he
26:34
came up and did a guest spot and then
26:35
later on that day we sat on the phone
26:37
for about two hours brother he one of
26:39
the best oh he a real one oh my God he's
26:41
a real one people know him on the ones
26:43
and twos and he wanted the best to do it
26:44
you know but but he a real one that's I
26:46
count him as like when I go to La that's
26:48
like my brother so you know it's only a
26:50
handful of people in L.A that I really
26:52
link with one of them man meowski and a
26:54
couple others that's it yeah you know
26:56
you're a real one too I knew it back in
26:58
2013 I mean when you first came on the
27:00
show and and then you came back in 2014
27:03
and you did it again you did the five
27:05
fingers and then remember you came back
27:07
in 2017 and you you did it again and you
27:10
keep coming back and you know I just
27:12
start to wonder man you know when you
27:14
say a real one with a real one tree look
27:16
like you know what a real one really do
27:18
when you say real when you talking about
27:20
the world of him seeing what a real MC
27:22
truly does you want me to rap when they
27:24
step up to the mic I don't know if I can
27:27
still know how to do this right come on
27:29
