0:00
that's my nephew right there HB i already know you know what I mean i'm official man i'm not you know I'm
0:05
official i'm official turn this mic on for me John i'm official because we part
0:10
of the same click you know yeah you know you know I'm one of the OG's in the click
0:16
cyn sway when I go on the streets and I'm in Harlem that's what they say to me
0:21
they go cyn sway man hey man and I gotta say man I'm really proud of this young
0:26
man he's more than just an MC he's an entrepreneur uh God Glory and Gold G3
0:32
that's something he's done he's taught himself how to edit he's taught himself how to produce he's a author Tracy G
0:39
he's not just an MC he's a allaround renaissance guy and you know he rocking with Generation Now so he got to be
0:47
something special welcome him back to the show it's been a while got the new album coming out Cash Rules the one and
0:53
only K [Music] We need some
1:02
What you want good morning good morning it's been a minute bro that's a fact how you been here great just working man
1:09
that's it that's all I'm doing i see you out there working yeah you know and um it it keeps me motivated to see you work
1:16
man and when people work like you work uh it it it I wonder how does their
1:21
motivation change is it the same motivation do you have new goals i wonder what is it that's keeping this
1:27
man inspired because it's such a fickle game yeah facts you could put out all of this work it's easy to get discouraged
1:33
too it's easy to get discouraged for me it's just seeing how far I've already come okay it's like I didn't know I I
1:39
know I didn't come this far just to get this far come on and it's just so many more things that I want to kind of do
1:45
with my career so it's just like I haven't even scratched the surface yet so every day is like it's a clean slate
1:51
it's a new start for real when when you first started you you had all this legacy you was attached to from your
1:56
pops you know and everybody that's around all of that but now you know you of an age where you know whoever's
2:03
legacy is that's their legacy facts facts now it's about your legacy right do you see things like that
2:10
even being a part of Jin Now now it's just like this is a part of my legacy uhhuh you feel me so it's like every day
2:17
I really get the chance to do new things and you know embrace what you know my
2:23
predecessors and everything was and you know that's a part of my everyday too but it's just like just seeing what
2:29
they've done and and and taking what I learned from them and applying it to myself now I'm a grown grown man like
2:35
last time I was here I was what 21 or something like that yeah man we playing
2:40
those freestyles back yeah that just listening to that I was like "Uh." Oh you didn't like the way you sounded and
2:47
you feel like now I'm looking back cuz you thought you were dope then right what
2:52
i was saying something but this is like But you ever listen to your old music and go "What was I?" Yeah by accident
2:58
like I I would never purposefully like just play one of the old joints and just be like "Yeah this is how I Uhhuh." I
3:05
hear them and be like "H the toughest ever." Yeah wow it's just not it yeah
3:13
tracy G is in New York you can see her right what's up go ahead if you could give advice though to that 21 year old
3:20
version of yourself artist advice what would you tell him
3:25
uh get out your shell for real i was I was real timid then like I allowed
3:31
myself to play the back in like every way shape and form so it was just like it was kind of hard for me to get you
3:38
know acclimated with the position that I'm in right now cuz I was so used to being like I'mma just shy away from
3:43
everything i know how talent I I used to want to just let my talent like speak speak for itself everything nothing else
3:49
mattered as I got older it's just like yeah it's like it's it's it's deeper than just being able to rap it's a lot
3:56
of people that can just rap it's like how do you stand out what makes you different and a lot of the time it's who
4:02
you are your brand and you know what you what you bring to the table how what's yourself like outside of the talent if
4:09
everybody know what your talent is already it's just like it's that one thing or whatever it is for me it was
4:15
just like let me be more of a person than just trying to be my artist that's
4:21
real was it ever about the money for you bro no never about the money and the accolades no I don't like I don't I
4:29
don't know like stuff like that is just it's it's cool to me like sometimes I
4:35
have a hard time even being excited about certain things cuz it's just like for me it's like I know I was going to
4:41
get this like not even to my own horn but it's just like I've this is destined for me so it's
4:47
just like I knew I was going to get this i'm excited people just be like "Yo you not." She like "No I am but it's it's it
4:53
might not be how y'all may want me to look because this thing has happened." But it's just like it's all about the
4:59
art to me for real it's all about the art so this would be something you did even if it didn't pay well would you if
5:04
you had to get a job a regular job you would still do this i still for no money
5:10
like I've said it previously like recently this is just my passion it's always been so man Kai Cash man I love
5:18
it man this dude is an author as well tranqu overcoming the experience was something that you off that you authored
5:25
people you know I think we talked about this in the past one of the things Yeah we talked about this in the past but I
5:30
think it's I see so many topics that get regurgitated today that that have been
5:36
talked about in the past but I think some of the things that you've overcome um are worth repeating and then and then
5:43
finding out what what is the status of your mental health today as compared to when you kicked that rhyme years ago i
5:50
mean it's great it's greater now cuz I'm just I got the chance to learn a little bit more about myself like then I was
5:56
like the the book was brand new at that time um it's crazy because you even asking me this question kind of has me
6:02
thinking about like writing a second version just with the the knowledge that I've acquired over these years and what
6:08
I know now as an adult but I'm I've been great man i don't I don't be worrying about nothing like I'm I'm big on my
6:15
faith you know um what does that mean like you you pray every day yeah every day like I
6:22
thank God daily just throughout the day randomly whether it's a good day bad day like all of that is is just super
6:27
important to me but um outside of that I I just I'm I move with ease like I'm just free flowing at this point like I'm
6:34
not really taking nothing too serious but just as serious as I need to take it
6:40
you feel me but it's just like and for me that's been the best like that's how
6:45
I remain just sane yeah i don't give nothing too too much of my attention and
6:53
I take care of what I need to take care of because I know at the end of the day you got to take you can't just be out here loose but for the most part it's
7:00
just like what's meant is meant was not is not i like that man kai Cash is here
7:06
man how how dependent are you on social media and and social media responses
7:12
like likes and views and um you know it's crazy i think being so turnt on
7:18
social media for so long for me it's like it's kind of like I'm kind of
7:24
spoiled to it uhhuh but I'm getting older now so now it's just kind of like ah I feel burnt like on social media you
7:32
got Tik Tok like I never thought I was going to become that person where it's just like a new app comes out and I'm
7:37
just like oh no this is too much i don't even know how to use this thing and I know how to use it but it's just like
7:43
bro the time the energy to do i did i put all my heart into Instagram like I
7:49
gotta do this again and I'm a little bit older now it's like bro I'm thinking about so many other things in my day now
7:56
algorithms is is is glitching it's like I don't But it's a part of you know my
8:02
profession it's just like you got to let people see you if it was up to me you wouldn't see me unless I until I'm on TV
8:09
somewhere or doing an interview or I got a show or something but it's just like it's a part of the game so I try not to
8:15
depend on it but it's it's like you have to utilize it so we do a segment here called Get in
8:21
the Game we do it every single Wednesday and listening to you speak we had an artist we focused on the artist
8:27
yesterday and there were there was some things that he discussed and after it was over you know I said to him "Some
8:33
time has gone by and it seems like your music has passed that time you need to
8:39
catch up." Yeah and I Well you cuz he can rap you know but it just wasn't
8:45
cohesive it just it wasn't making any sense and then we also noticed that he was the type of person in the studio by
8:53
himself it's just him and you know he bought and I said to him who are your ears in the studio who are you around
9:00
i'm listen as I listen to you speak you touched on so much your faith your mental health your process your
9:06
responsibilities learning how to step back learning when to insert yourself who are your people around you now
9:12
because I I see I see you so different like you know even when you were listening to their old freestyle I know
9:18
that cringe where you just like it was for then it was perfect but you hearing yourself now you know your mistakes you
9:24
know when you could have took a breath you know how you would have flipped it different I know I saw your face I saw
9:30
I'm like oh man rush that line and then swank got to play it you know but it so who are you around now that that that's
9:38
helped because you seem so much more grounded aware but it's not it ain't corny you
9:45
know what I mean like who who are your ears who are the people that you around now that's how you balance it all oh
9:51
beautiful yes yeah yeah we've been together officially for six years now six years
9:58
last time I was up here was what six years yo isn't that like married by law yeah
10:05
yeah you want him common law married right now that's common law married y'all live together yeah oh yeah yeah
10:11
yeah my girl some of the same people that I grew up with my bro V but he's getting older now
10:19
so I you know I understand him a lot better better ain't that something he understands himself a lot better he's in
10:24
here by the way yeah he look like much you know what's up with that man he going to play you out on the mic you see
10:30
that bro uh drum lake and cannon yeah you know
10:36
and those are your ears in the studio as well the cor How how well do you take any critique like how Oh I'm I'm I'm I
10:42
understand it i I don't take nothing personal cuz I know anybody that's willing to criticize me is most likely
10:48
looking out for me they want to see me do my best and it ain't always criticism sometimes it's just this how we could do
10:54
it better right sometimes it's just like I listen sometimes just like "Okay
11:00
bet." I'd be stubb you know callous with his
11:06
John's not bad he's not well I'm not bad it's one It's one of It's one or the
11:12
other but yeah that's that's pretty much it like my circle is is uh I would say a
11:19
little smaller i never really had a big circle you know all the CYN guys we always still together we all grown now
11:25
everybody got their own individual life but it's just like when we get together it just it feels like we just kids again
11:32
but it's just like we got we got responsibilities so we can't operate like how we used to operate no it's good
11:37
it's good for you like it's amazing what this time has done i mean six years can feel like a long time for some people
11:44
but it's beautiful to see what it has done um you weren't you were great when you were here six years ago but I I feel
11:52
you know like the the the confidence is is a lot different that it's almost like you're walking with purpose like you
11:58
understand I feel like it too i really like got the chance to learn about
12:04
myself i feel like I you know you you are who you are so you feel like you know yourself off rip by default right
12:11
these past two years I got a lot of time to just spend alone and I feel like that was just super important like I never
12:18
realized how much time I didn't spend by myself was that on purpose or something happened where you had to go kind of do
12:24
the two years by yourself it was it it was more so on purpose cuz I feel like I need to change a lot of things just felt
12:30
so familiar it felt routine like one thing about me I don't really like routine and it's kind of chaotic but it's just
12:36
like you do something too much it's just like ah for me it's just like all right like what's what's life I got to do
12:44
something different and sometimes the answer really be right in front of your face and for me it was just like ah let
12:50
me just iso for a second and that's like the best times for me
12:56
yeah it's just like yep I ain't got to listen to nobody I don't really got to talk I could talk to myself if I want to
13:02
like I'm chilling I can do what I want you know I got to snap out of it I got a lot of work to do but it's just like
13:09
that time be the best time for me it was the best time for you congratulations cuz a lot of people won't discipline themselves to do that so congratulations
13:16
kai Cash is here man we talking about the new album Cash Rules i want to get into that uh because now that we getting
13:22
this backped you dropped that last week i'm a
13:30
dog without the bark but y'all won't muzzle me yep what does that mean i'm a
13:35
dog without the bark i'm just I'm a dog i just not loud not I don't I don't
13:43
appear to be ferocious i feel like dogs that bark and just like it's a it's a
13:48
tail you feel like you need to it's a it's a insecurity there feel like you
13:53
got to make up for something but we see this everywhere we see this is how rappers articulate themselves on the
14:01
screen we we're seeing broadcasters now podcasters now people are loud and and
14:07
they're barking barking barking barking strong and wrong and don't get me wrong some people that's just their
14:12
temperament and their personality that's who people are but I'm just that's who I am i'm just a dog without the bark but I
14:19
won't be muzzled like can't silence me that that's a sign of a man who's really
14:25
in tune with his purpose his self and secure with his masculinity absolutely
14:32
fact not saying that those who bark aren't but you know when you don't you know what I mean like you right and that
14:37
and that's the thing too because you could be in this business and you feel like you got to follow suit in order to
14:43
be recognized or be seen or be accepted and when you go against the grain people ain't going to hear you right that's not
14:50
something you're concerned about nah not really i feel like I the all this time I
14:56
haven't went with the flow it's just like and I got this far why start now like what up that'll be moving backwards
15:03
for me personally is there ever any temptation though to go with the flow cuz the business could just be so crazy
15:08
ups and downs and whatever and you just like I had my moments how do you get out of it just remembering like wait hold on
15:16
me being who I am is the reason why you know there it is that's why that's why we here that's why we here that's why
15:21
we're here um man we got Kai Cash here the new era yeah
15:29
that beat is crazy new era new era hold up yeah what I'm about to play next
15:36
new er the new No no no uhuh okay all right new era did
15:43
that come out or something swear you got something you over there being a radio op again what's happening
15:49
i won't do it play what you want again man we'll come back with Kai Cash we're going to open up the phone lines 88874
15:56
damn homie kai Cash man uh we loving it right now
16:05
8887423345 uh we celebrating the new album Tracy G that's coming out April 25th uhhuh cash rules cash rules cash
16:13
yeah so that's a play on your name yes it's it's it's it's three meanings to that right so cash rules for one is a
16:19
play on my name kash rules it's just like simple second one cash rules everything you know how the money make
16:25
the world go around it's just you know relatability the third one cash is just a it's a fill this is the most important
16:31
one too um the word cash is just a filler word thank you and to me the
16:38
feeling is it's like whatever you deem important to you so it's like if it's your faith it's your creativity it's
16:45
your family you know it's loyalty you know whatever the case may be yo by the
16:50
way guys drama is handing us waters right now he's he does everything now he does
16:55
drama but yeah cash is the filler word for whatever you deem like important
17:01
what helps you get through your everyday and it ruling in your life so that's what the the the super meaning of cash
17:08
rules is mhm so don't don't I I I like it that you put thought behind it because it's a lot of u makes you know
17:15
easy made music people putting it out to to satisfy algorithm um and then the
17:21
conceptual aspect of putting out art seems to be secondary to folks not you i
17:27
don't even understand i hate it yeah man it's just like what happened when I wanted to be a I I still want to
17:33
be a rapper but growing up like the things that I seen that made me want to be a rapper was the things that like all the recipes that we lost our losing give
17:41
me an example like a 106 and park being around like I would have loved to been on 106 and Park i would have loved to
17:47
went to TRL you feel me mtv Cribs like even if the house is rented I don't care
17:53
this is just a part of what we do right like it's things like that a lot and
17:59
it's a lot more but we'll we'll be talking for hours if I get into it but um it's just like I felt like we just
18:06
started losing the recipes just started falling off like one by one as I get closer and closer and closer it's just
18:13
like ah here we go yeah even the length of a song you think about it now like even that it used to be three verses on
18:21
a song 100% 100% you you be listen you lucky if you in the at go to a spot and
18:27
the DJ played the second verse you you getting one or you going right to the immediate hot ver and out onto the next
18:34
is that do you like in drama maybe you DJ drama is here the legendary iconic one most decorated uh most imitated
18:43
often duplicated often accolated this is my brother right here generation then
18:49
generation now generation to the future generation omniresent you know his name
18:55
the voice of choice the ladies delight Uh-huh the women want to fight and
19:01
fellas want to be like give it up for DJ Drama man what's happening what's happening man i'm in the universe what's
19:08
up man thank you still the greatest at the intros i I can't claim it all the time like on the mixtapes I can claim it
19:14
on this on this microphone right here you still got it thank you man drama we going to make that into a sweeper uh
19:22
but what what what do you think cuz you you're a DJ you broken so many artists throughout the eras and the length of
19:29
the song is is that to be bl the blame of streaming culture um yeah I think that the attention span
19:36
is shorter now so you know like in the last what decade like you know we watch
19:42
songs literally go from three verses to two verses to one verse you know what I mean like I mean Playboy Cardi just put
19:50
an album out with 30 songs is I don't think the album entirety is an hour you
19:55
know what I'm saying like wow nas had 10 songs it was 50 minutes uhhuh um so you
20:01
know and just to piggyback off what Kai said like you know you think about like
20:06
shows like TRL and and uh 106 and Park and you know all this all the shows he
20:12
he he and I thought about it and some of it made me think like you know we just I
20:18
don't think we realize even how spoiled we are now with the content and the mass
20:24
of of of ability we have to the culture you know what I'm saying like we came from a time when you know I used to wait
20:32
every Friday night in in Philly just to hear Kobe Cob on Radioactive Power FM
20:38
you know what I mean i didn't get that now I can shout Kobe like Cosmic Kev DJ Ramos now you meet Lady B lady B now you
20:46
got I can open up my phone and go to so many platforms in you know three minutes
20:53
so and then you know again and tying that back in like when when you just think about um the streaming era and it
21:00
comes to music like you know the attention spans again are so quick and it's so much music coming out at all
21:06
times so you know people were trying to to catch that audience so fast and in the process of that happening now we
21:13
getting a minute and 30 second songs but we're losing something something right
21:19
we're losing that cultural aspect that intangible that made it so much magic
21:24
where Kai is like yearning for that feeling again right yeah because you know like what he's talking about and
21:31
what his legacy is from and like you know I think with like people who are real students of the game and of the
21:38
culture like you know there's a difference in in making that type of content and then knowing you're making a
21:45
song where you got to come with three verses that are tough yeah you know to keep cons to keep the cons the the the
21:53
listener like tuned into that to really want to hear it to the end of the record
21:58
you know what I mean like Heather touched on even like a DJ like you know even to the point where some DJs will
22:04
play the end of that record first and then come back to the beginning just to certain key parts in that song like you
22:10
know that that's not there right now it feels like I mean I cook a lot so I could almost compare it to food to the
22:16
culinary world it feels like I've been getting a bunch of appetizers and not many entre it's all appetizers it's
22:24
like restaurant it ain't even fast food it's top it's just like here and and and
22:30
then you don't you you you walk away kind of still a little hungry there's something missing like you said like
22:36
there's some It's not many entre out here it's a lot of it's a lot of
22:42
[ __ ] like in the air let's just keep it a thousand you know what I'm saying because But there's a lot of [ __ ]
22:48
being celebrated yeah we can say that too we celebrated we celebrate a lot of
22:55
But no people scared to say that though and there and there always has been through time but now because we there's
23:02
so much so it's like there's going to be more to celebrate because there's just so much more of everything in the world
23:10
we live in scarface I saw Scarface speaking about it once saying "Man let's be real well it ain't got to be talent
23:16
you don't have to be talent to be famous or successful in this business don Cannon's here nodding his head man did
23:22
Did we sell ourselves out Don Cannon yes sir did we Did we sell ourselves out no come
23:31
get on the mic man come on generation now man i'm getting them all you know I'm a jokester i say joke yeah but then
23:37
did we did we sell ourselves short because chasing the fame and you know
23:43
and chasing want wanting to be relevant and giving up little bits and pieces of the culture just so we could satisfy
23:51
algorithms and satisfy the business of it do we are we did we sell ourselves short i always get in trouble with this
23:57
because the young folks is there you know what I mean and I always try to fight you know just being somebody that's produced in so many generations
24:04
yeah i just was like sitting there like man let me kind of conform to what they're thinking like he was just
24:10
mentioning the one minute songs I'm still stuck on the two-minute songs to 3 minute 3:30 like being ready for radio
24:17
so I think there's been some changes but I can't necessarily say it's a sellout or not sellout but as a purist I
24:23
definitely feel like we lost a lot of the seasoning and the food for sure and what happens as a result of that we lose
24:29
a lot of the artists faster yes ain't a whole lot of artists that's been around as long as y'all been DJing it's a fact
24:36
think about that i mean the careers are are are short like the NFL like you know
24:41
what I mean yes the like the if you you lucky at this time to get a two-year run
24:49
yes you feel me like run who's doing that nowadays you feel me like yeah like it you' be gone in the summer in this
24:56
generation in this era you know only only the greats get to 10 years and and then you know then
25:04
you start talking that 15 20 and beyond you know what I'm saying like yeah get
25:10
get you get a good year in my guy and see how it's going
25:15
a whole year just a year just a year you feel hot right now you won't be around
25:20
next year you won't be around next year but that's also because people aren't
25:26
because there's a lot of folks who enter the game and it's not for the pursuit of artistry it's for the pursuit of attention and so they already are
25:34
utilizing hiphop just to get to their next stream of income that they're then
25:39
going to land in for the next two years and the next two years and then the next two years and even like when you think
25:45
of some of the language there will be some folks where they don't call it creating music creating songs they just
25:50
see everything as content absolutely and so content has become key yeah i mean
25:57
it's a it's been it became a content game more than it became a music game facts and I think I think that hurt too
26:03
because with within the con the content it it helps but I remember seeing like the only thing I knew was word of mouth
26:10
you know what I mean or I watched Fab Five Freddy be you know with NWA at the rally that's all I knew i didn't know
26:16
anything personal it was all kind of like you know what I guesstimated what that rapper was doing you know we had to
26:22
guess and I think that mystery made a lot of our superstars too but by the way you mentioned MWA and Ice Cube is still
26:29
here that's right decades later that's right amazing come on right uh Lake what
26:34
do you tell an artist while I got you here while I got you
26:40
here now you know what what do you
26:48
What do you tell an artist now who's entering the game how do you advise an
26:53
artist about solidifying a presence a brand and longevity how do you how do
26:59
you manage that differently now than you would have maybe 10 years even five years ago um I think I think an artist
27:07
understanding that their their race is their own race is key and when I say that I mean like your your your
27:14
progression in the music business may take a year it may take five years but as long as you understand it and you
27:19
appreciate each step it's good for you i think uh the instant gratification of like this era is really what's killing
27:25
the kids like in terms of them wanting to see something immediately rather than
27:30
understanding growth in any form or fashion is progression you know what I mean so that's the key that I teach them
27:36
like to me if you got 50 fans and you go back and you got 150 that's still a win to me that gives you the the the
27:43
premonition or at least like the the feeling to want to continue i think these kids want to go from zero to 5,000
27:50
and if they don't get that then they feel like they defeated you know so I just tell every artist look like it may
27:55
take a year for you or it may take five years for you as long as you in your mind are fine with the progression at
28:00
each step you're good with it every artist that we've had that's been successful they've always been like really good and really calm and really
28:07
understanding about their growth at their own pace i remember Jack used to do shows and he would When he says Jack
28:13
he means Jack Carlo oh wow okay yeah jack he's first name basis guys i'm
28:18
sorry you know I got to studios out there of him doing shows with 200 250 people and we would go back and talk to
28:23
him and we'd be like "Bro are you frustrated?" He'd be like "No I'm cool with my progression." Like cuz he remembers when it was 50 people in there
28:29
and now he can do arena so I think ultimately him understanding the growth and I think Kai's in the same space i
28:35
think them understanding where their growth is at each step is where it is so that's what I try to tell him i I I I
28:40
know I you guys uh you know they know I I didn't they don't expect to be on the mic but they know I'm always pulling
28:47
because I when I see how supportive you guys generation now round of applause have really nurtured and groomed a lot
28:56
of great artists in the way to me that's reminiscent of the great you know Barry
29:03
Gordies of the world what he was able to do with Mottown to me helped set the blueprint to a lot of success russell
29:10
Simmons and those guys early Death Jam days you know to me you guys are this generation's uh version of that what is
29:18
it about Kai you know what let's name some of the artists by the way you you named Jack let's go down the list so
29:25
folks just to remind folks Lane come on you know come on come on guys just name some come on man man let's start man
29:31
listen see this where it gets me in trouble because we gonna start early listen listen listen go early we touch
29:37
we we've touched everything bro we've got the TI we got the Jeezy we broke all these things through mixtapz you know
29:43
what I mean we move further into you know drums and artists with platinum records two Grammys as a mixtape DJ wow
29:50
you see what I'm saying two Grammys one Grammy you know what I'm saying um but
29:56
we could start there then we go to Lil Uzi Vert you know what I mean two Diamond Records you know what I'm saying
30:01
jack two diamond records now we going to Kai five diamond records and that
30:08
and if I'm you if I'm Kai to me um that gives me so much reassurance and
30:15
confidence that damn it these dudes have built all of these different things and they really they here today like they
30:22
here with you relevant right you know and so you know you're around people you can trust right yep what makes him
30:28
special drama oh man i mean like Canon always says his conviction you know like
30:35
like Kai came to the table and it was it was interesting because you know as I'm
30:41
I'm sitting here thinking about like you know a lot of times we we think about like how we break an artist and like
30:49
part of us breaking an artist is you know we we we go on tour every summer um
30:55
we we play them on the radio we do projects we come to Sway in the morning you know what I'm brought all your
31:00
artists to us in the beginning man yeah as always oh that's crazy this This time
31:05
it's a little different though because Kai's already been here and he's already he's he's already burned this thing down
31:12
you know what I'm saying and then you know the way we've gone in in in the past and like told artists our history
31:17
and our stories because of our legacy we sitting down with Ken his people's we're sharing stories you know what I'm saying
31:23
he he we we it's going story to story you know what I mean he laughing at ours we laughing at his but I mean you know
31:30
again like I think with us when it comes to it like you know we're we're like
31:35
we're we're purist at at the heart you know what I'm saying and you know even though a lot of times I think where
31:41
we've won at is because we go against the grain throughout our careers you know again two kids from Philly who
31:48
moved to Atlanta um and changed the southern uh hiphop mixtape game for for
31:55
forever you know what I'm saying you know breaking a kid with purple hair from Philadelphia that's known as a city
32:02
of spitters you know what I'm saying a white artist from Louisville Kentucky that people looked at like I don't I
32:08
don't see this one you know what I'm saying so linking up with Kai again it's just you know in a day and age where I I
32:14
feel like what he what he's doing and you know his his level of eliteness when
32:20
it comes to those you know that pen like it's not there right now that's why we're we're getting fed such [ __ ]
32:26
you feel me because that's lacking outside of you know a a small handful a
32:32
core group of people and you know we're excited just for you know again to be a a part of his journey for us to give him
32:39
the shoulders to stand on and like when that when when that man raps like when he first came and and played us them
32:45
records and we heard them raps it was like it was incredible bro yeah yeah you
32:51
felt like you was you was walking with walls surrounded by canyon walls right
32:56
when he first started rapping right going deep in the desert right i I felt
33:01
like again oh I I I we got another one that wants to be on that Mount Rushmore you know what I mean a million% you
33:08
ain't got another one that's walking through the valley of the hiatus
33:13
yo it's I love I love the hyena intro the Valley of the Hyas
33:21
oh my god yo John oh yeah drop a DB beat on them man
33:31
hey now Kai Cash on the line okay okay yeah turn that up give me
33:37
right give me right yeah give me right give me right give me right turn that up turn me up give me right yeah uh if I
33:43
held my tongue I would be dead broke head full of notes nose bleeding and visually impaired get a closer glimpse
33:49
biting my nails cuz I'm scared to approach my fears look in their eyes being pierced in the soul had to shift
33:54
up the gear staring clear on the road laying open but know that I'm prepared for the moment when [ __ ] feel like
33:59
they need to interfere with my motion i p serum and flare up my nose in the middle with the ocean lane getting
34:06
further escaping like I'm the man who just ran from a murder i'm bound to be faced with I don't scram hurdles through
34:11
every arrangement they tried to place in my circle i had the same dreams as a kid on a B-54 driving through Myrtle with a
34:18
plan so determined look at how I evolved to a man that's in front of you [ __ ] coming to blam something a real hustler

34:54
wins bring a lot more success in here able to smile at my reflection here a grown man getting smarter cuz I
34:59
understand the lessons here a lot of hours I invested here i'm causing wreck and wreaking a lot of habit seeing a lot
35:05
of habits turn everybody to a believer while I establish myself being an overachiever [ __ ] being average i'm past
35:11
that proceeded with eagerness got to have it come catch me in 4K see me in high graphics had to evaluate who I
35:17
needed and who I had to leave behind cuz they would have impeded what I attracted the road clear i ain't been seeing a lot
35:23
of traffic but I'm on this [ __ ] one hand on the wheel other hand slowly thumbing through corpses you got left in
35:29
the dirt how unfortunate oh man come on come on come on come on come on turn that beat down turn
35:36
that go man I'm heaven sent it's like the Lord bought me cold shoulder any
35:41

36:27

36:34
like nice just little leave him hanging like that i like that man pause absolutely i like that man y'all lucky
36:40
we got a hanging up in here man listen
36:45
[Music] I'm I'm in a whole different I'm in a whole different mode i'm in a whole
36:51
different sit as hell that beat was by DB by the way drama oh yeah you like
36:57

37:02

37:09
dude out wrapped the beat man i was like "Wow man." I heard I heard it fading i was like "Does that does that mean he wants him to stop?" Oh no the beat's
37:15
going now yo man my bad my bad it's all good wow wow man that was incredible
37:21
thank you you You give me so much um excitement and and I won't even say hope
37:26
you know hope is um wanting something that you feel isn't there um I I know
37:32
it's there i know it's artists like you you know what I mean that are true to the culture and true to the art form but
37:38
most importantly true to yourself and um even here having this conversation I I
37:44
feel like I got to know you better you know as the man that you are right you know when you came before I was you know
37:52
you know and I'm always still I'm still right but but you know I I I speak in a way you know which is rare drama no it's
37:58
a lot of [ __ ] i know I could ask but I I want to protect folks too at the same time when they come up here and when I
38:04
say it I want to protect them i want to allow them to be who they are and not have to be what the industry is
38:12
dictating folks to be and sometimes folks have to come up here in their performance and even the interviews are
38:18
performative facts you know what I mean like they performing in interviews like they performing on stage and and and and
38:25
people who are interviewing are performers as well yeah and so we want to make sure there's a lane where real
38:31
genuine authentic conversations can happen and people could be themselves and then show off the talent that's what
38:37
drove this culture in the first place your individuality what you got to offer to the world that no one else can and
38:44
being true to it and you cover all those bases man and your family you surrounded with these guys i love these dudes i
38:51
joke around with them a lot and all of that but I'm always happy to see drama i'm always happy to see making and when

40:41

40:46

40:52

41:12
right when you when you as an artist when you watch another artist that you
41:18
can just you know that they've been doing their work while everybody else has been sleeping it's the confidence
41:23
like I said to him earlier it's just much different it's it's not even arrogance it's just yo they've been in
41:30
the gym i've been in the gym like 10,000 hours that's it that's it man i've been in the
41:36
