If you're working on your CPA exams, you probably wish you had a little bit more time in the day
0:06
But, the time that you spend studying is meaningless if your study methods aren't effective
0:14
So I want to give you three specific big picture strategies that will make the time that you do spend studying much more effective
0:21
Now, what I'm about to say is going to make a lot of sense, but it's probably stuff you haven't really heard before
0:28
We do have a free one hour training webinar where I will walk you through exactly what I did to pass my CPA exams in three months while working full time
0:38
And the study routine I followed was based on these three ideas I'm about to give you
0:44
So, number one, focus on active study methods instead of passive study methods
0:51
Watching video lectures and reading the chapter, that's very low impact on your brain
0:56
It's passive. That's why you constantly zone out. You have to restart the video lecture 20 times
1:02
The other thing is that you've probably found out, even if you do feel like you understood the video lecture
1:08
that does not directly translate to being able to answer the practice questions
1:13
Now, that's a hint at a better way of doing it, but I'll come back to that in a second
1:17
Now, the video lectures and the text obviously have their place in your study process, but you need to use them strategically
1:24
More about that in a second. Tip number two, capture the understanding
1:29
So when you come across a topic or rule or concept or formula that's really confusing to you for whatever reason
1:36
it's hard for you to understand or remember, those types of items you need to stop and literally explain it out loud back to yourself until you understand it
1:47
And then you write down that explanation that you came up with in your own words
1:52
You write that down so you have it. That's what I mean by capturing the understanding
1:57
So there's a way of doing it strategically. Again, we'll come back to that in a second
2:02
So the third tip is to build re-review into your daily study process
2:08
So what is the point of spending 100 or more hours going through dozens and dozens of lessons
2:15
putting in all this time and effort if you are just going to inevitably forget huge portions of all the stuff you worked so hard to learn in the first place
2:24
But that is exactly what happens following the traditional or the normal study approach
2:30
So instead, you simply dedicate a portion of your study time each day to re-reviewing all the things that you've studied previously
2:39
so that you get better and better at all the concepts, all the material as time goes on
2:44
instead of slowly forgetting all this stuff you spent so much time learning in the first place
2:49
There's two simple ways to do it, and we will come back to that in just a second
2:53
Now, as you can probably tell, I could talk all day about CPA study strategy
2:58
My name's Nate. I run SuperfastCPA, and we help busy CPA candidates master their study process
3:05
so that they can pass their CPA exams with less dedicated study time each day
3:10
I myself passed my CPA exams in one three-month period. While I was working full time, I only studied two hours a day with my review course on average
3:20
So like I mentioned before, we have a free one-hour training where I will walk you through these strategies in detail
3:27
This will help you get much more out of your review course. It does not matter what review course you're using
3:33
Any review course can be used in this format. When you really know what you're doing when you sit down to study each day
3:39
when you're fully in control of your own study process, when you sit down to study, you can get so much more done in so much less time
3:48
And when you know that it's working, all the stress, frustration, and overwhelm go away
3:53
and this process stops feeling like a huge weight just hanging around your neck
3:58
So here's a few of the things that you'll learn from this free training. So you'll learn the perfect two-hour study session
4:04
So how to use your current review course much differently but much more efficiently
4:09
so that you can get much more done in less time. And you'll learn how to cut straight to what is most important from any given lesson
4:17
a.k.a. what is most testable. This can be easily identified in any review course
4:22
It doesn't matter how they lay out their content. You'll learn the six key ingredients to a winning study process
4:28
You'll learn how to classify information into things that you should do the process I mentioned
4:33
where you explain it back to yourself and write it in your own words, and then what types of information you can skip
4:39
You'll learn an exercise that you do on a daily basis so that you eliminate exam anxiety
4:46
way before you ever get to the testing center. You'll also learn how to master time management on exam day
4:53
again, way before you ever actually step into the testing center. The thing that I'm always telling my clients is that this study approach
5:01
and the daily exercises that we teach you, it solves a lot of problems in advance
5:06
You'll learn how to remove the dread factor from the daily study process
5:11
so that you don't have to fight yourself just to sit down and study each day
5:15
You'll learn how to fit your entire study process into your current daily routine
5:21
so that you can take the evenings off. And overall, from this training, you're just going to learn this one cohesive process
5:29
so that the study process, you form it into this thing that doesn't have to take over your life
5:36
It's really not that big of a deal once you master the process itself
5:41
and then the exams just take care of themselves. So again, to register for a session of the training, just click on the video or the link below the video
5:50
Choose a time that works for you, and then do not miss it. This is literally one hour that will save you months and months of time and frustration
