How to use our flashcards

Alright, so if you're on this page, you are here to get the flashcards
0:05
I want to just talk a little bit about how these fit into your study process
0:13
So we kind of covered this on the training webinar. What you want to do, use these flashcards as a starting point
0:23
But what I would always do when I was studying or doing my main session, I would keep one
0:29
window up with my review course, which was CPA Excel, and then another window of Quizlet
0:38
where you can edit your own flashcards. And again, you can use these decks as a starting deck, or a starting point
0:44
The key thing here is, when you go over new material, or let's say you're doing your sets
0:50
of 30 questions, whatever it is in your study session, when you come across either a question
0:58
a concept, a formula, just something that you know you need to remember, usually you
1:03
want to do things that you don't have yet. You want to make your decks of flashcards contain all the information that you've struggled
1:16
with, because then what you want to do is, at night I like to do just low-impact review
1:25
activities, and going through the flashcards on my phone was like, that was like the main
1:31
thing I liked doing at night. Because it didn't require a bunch of brain power, it felt like my brain was fried from
1:38
work and studying in the morning. And so, the other big thing is, as you go through the weeks of studying, for whatever
1:47
section it is, as long as you're diligent about creating these flashcards, your flashcards
1:54
at the end will contain your personalized information that you've struggled with, or
2:03
that you've had a hard time remembering. And then, again, because you're doing the sets of 30 questions each day, you don't need
2:11
to block off two full weeks at the end to do a final review to try and basically relearn everything
2:17
So the last few days, keep doing your sets of 30 multiple choice questions, keep doing
2:23
the MCQs, reading the review notes on your phone, or listening to the audio notes
2:30
But then, also put a big focus on reviewing your decks of flashcards for that section
2:38
whatever section you're studying for. And that will be just kind of the, not the tip of the iceberg, that will be like the
2:46
cherry on top that really just completes everything you've reviewed. It fills in all those gaps of things you weren't remembering, or things that are important
2:56
that you need to make sure you remember. Your most crucial personalized information that you need to know or you need to remember
3:03
And it will be, it's extremely helpful. The other thing is, on test day, what I used to do, you can do this if you want or not
3:13
I would make sure I got to the testing center an hour early, and I would sit in my car in
3:18
the parking lot, and I would do one more, or as many times through the deck as I could
3:24
for that section, whether it was FAR or REG or whatever. And so that stuff again, your personalized most crucial information is on the very just
3:35
forefront of your short term memory. That's the last thing you should do before you go in the testing center
3:41
And it's amazing, it seems like almost all the questions you see were stuff from your
3:48
flashcards that you reviewed like 20 minutes ago. And so you've got it, because you did it, you know, 20 minutes ago
3:56
So that's the big tip for the flashcards. Be diligent about creating your own flashcards
4:02
Use ours as a starting point. Write the concepts in your own words
4:07
And then review your own flashcards at night. But the big, big thing is the last two or three days before the exam, heavily use those
4:16
flashcards that you've made. And then test day, morning or whatever, get to the testing center an hour early, take
4:24
off an extra, if you've taken off the afternoon from work to do the test, just make sure you
4:30
can get there an hour early, and just sit in your car in silence and go through your
4:36
flashcards as many times as you can before you have to go in and take the exams
4:41
And I promise you that one thing will make a huge difference
4:46
Again, so my last sales pitch, if you just watch the webinar, you will find our study
4:53
supplements extremely helpful, especially if you have all four sections left. I would just give, at the very least, give them a try
5:02
If you get used to this idea of mini sessions and using these on your phone whenever, every
5:08
time you have five minutes throughout the day, or even like two minutes, just walk into
5:12
the bathroom, you can do a mini quiz with our questions. Read the review notes over and over and over, because these really do contain the most likely
5:24
stuff you'll see in the exam. You'll find it very helpful, and from the training, you can save 40%
5:32
So take advantage of that. If you're on the fence, all I can say is give them a try
5:38
Try them out for a few weeks, and I promise you, you'll see a big difference
5:43
Alright, thanks for watching. Email me any questions if you have them
