The footage captures changing smoke plumes and fire activity across the landscape northwest of Austin, Nevada, showing the wildfire’s movement over time. The lightning-caused New Pass Fire started on July 26, 2026. By the July 31 update, the fire had burned approximately 29,669 acres and was 24% contained. Around 230 to 250 personnel were assigned to the fire as firefighters worked on containment lines under hot, dry, and windy conditions. The conditions supported active fire behavior, including spotting and runs through grass, brush, and pinyon-juniper vegetation.
