Aug 17, 2026
Naalehu, United States - August 15, 2026 Hurricane Lala battered Hawaii's Big Island on Saturday, August 15, downing trees and power lines, flooding roads and triggering landslides. Tens of thousands of customers lost power across the state, and officials urged residents to shelter in place amid warnings of life-threatening flooding, mudslides and dangerous surf. The storm passed just south of the island, narrowly missing what would have been the first direct hurricane hit on the Big Island in over a century. Dozens of flights were cancelled.
