Morningside, United States - September 23, 2026 A foam coffin was ripped apart during a confrontation between pro- and anti-Beijing protesters near Joint Base Andrews as crowds gathered ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s U.S. visit. The video, filmed by X user Jia Huigang on Wednesday, September 23, shows a foam coffin with a yellow wreath sitting beside a McDonald’s drive-thru. Protesters crowd around it, shove each other and tear the coffin apart, sending pieces of white foam across the pavement. Prince George’s County police officers then walk over and stand above the wreckage as police vehicles remain nearby with their lights on. Large crowds carrying Chinese flags fill the street behind the parking lot. Huigang said the demonstration was organized against Xi’s U.S. visit. He said pro-Beijing protesters first sat on the foam coffin and punched a hole in it, before later tearing apart the repaired prop while he was trying to keep the demonstration peaceful. Xi landed at Joint Base Andrews that evening and was greeted plane-side. The protest near the base involved clashes between China Democracy Party and other anti-CCP protesters and a larger pro-Beijing crowd, with police separating the opposing groups.
