The team had been holding an intensive training camp in the city as part of its final preparations for the upcoming tournament. Iran has been holding a pre-World Cup training camp in the Turkish resort city of Antalya since May 19. FIFA previously confirmed Centro Xoloitzcuintle in Tijuana as Iran’s official base camp, where the players and staff will be stationed during the competition. Iran will open its campaign against New Zealand at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on June 16 before facing Belgium at the same venue on June 21. The team will conclude the group stage against Egypt at Lumen Field in Seattle on June 26. The squad will therefore need to travel from Mexico to the United States for each of its matches. The 2026 FIFA World Cup is being co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
