Ankara, Türkiye - May 12, 2026 Civilians cross through the Akcakale border crossing in southeast T�rkiye's Sanliurfa province on May 12, 2026, as the facility reopens to civilian traffic after a 12-year closure. The crossing, which sits across from Tal Abyad in northern Syria, had been closed since 2014 due to Syria's internal conflicts and becomes the sixth operational civilian crossing along T�rkiye's 900-kilometer border with Syria.
