A cemetery in Van province has drawn visitors as rare reverse tulips bloom among gravestones during the spring season. The flowers, known locally as “weeping bride,” grow in the Dilmetas neighborhood of Gevas district, where their presence in a cemetery setting has attracted photographers and nature enthusiasts. Visitors from surrounding areas gather to observe and capture the blooms, which appear in shades of red, yellow and burgundy, creating a striking contrast with the quiet surroundings. Authorities have taken measures to protect the tulips, which are among endemic plant species in Türkiye and are subject to legal protection. Crown imperial flowers, which comprise around 170 species worldwide, grow in the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, and in Türkiye—home to 57 species, 34 of them endemic—they have become a prominent cultural symbol.
