Switzerland: China shares practical experience in public health at WHA.

China has hosted several events on the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, sharing practical insights and proven strategies for strengthening public health systems. Together with Brazil, Ethiopia and other countries, China co-hosted a side event on May 18 on shaping a future health systems for equity and access in the digital age. The event called on all countries to work together to promote the safer, more beneficial, and inclusive use of digital technologies to empower health systems and improve human health. Nearly 300 representatives and experts from WHO member states and other organizations attended. Participants spoke highly of China's successful efforts to build an equitable and accessible healthcare system using big data, AI, and other technologies. Alain Labrique, director of the Department of Digital Health and Innovation at WHO, drew attention to China's county-level medical consortia, known as yigongti, which aims to achieve closely integrated rural medical communities nationwide by 2027. At other sideline events, the GX Foundation from Hong Kong shared its experience on dengue prevention and control, while the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association advocated for a One Health approach to address shared health threats facing the globe. During the assembly, China has also been actively participating in WHO member state briefings, roundtable discussions, side events hosted by other countries, and resolution consultations, as well as holding working exchanges with senior WHO secretariat officials, technical departments, and other national delegations.
