Hosted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in partnership with more than 50 UN agencies and co-convened with the Swiss government, the four-day summit at Geneva's Palexpo convention center is focusing on how AI can accelerate progress in healthcare, climate action, education, disaster response and sustainable development. This year's summit comes immediately after the inaugural UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance and forms part of Geneva's broader Digital Week, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, academia and international organizations to discuss both AI innovation and governance. A major highlight will be Wednesday's inaugural meeting of the newly launched AI for Good Global Commission, which brings together more than 40 founding members, including heads of state, UN agency leaders and technology executives, to promote practical approaches to expanding access to AI, strengthening trust and accelerating responsible adoption across sectors. The summit will feature live demonstrations of emerging technologies, including agentic AI, robotics, edge AI, brain-computer interfaces and space computing, alongside discussions on AI standards, testing, benchmarking, misinformation, deepfakes, AI infrastructure and energy demands. More than 11,000 participants from 169 countries attended last year's AI for Good and related events, and organizers say the 2026 edition aims to further strengthen the summit as the UN's leading platform for translating AI advances into practical solutions that benefit people worldwide. According to the organizers, the summit is expected to bring together thousands of leaders, innovators and changemakers from 170 countries for more than 300 sessions over four days.
