Abuja, Nigeria - May 16, 2026 Shettima urges CCB to remain apolitical Vice-President Kashim Shettima has urged the Code of Conduct Bureau to remain apolitical and maintain strict independence in carrying out its duties. Shettima made the call while receiving a delegation of the bureau led by its Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Bello, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He also urged the bureau to sustain its digitisation process to enable public officers declare assets and liabilities electronically from any location. “Remain steadfast. Be as apolitical as humanly possible and do your job as much as you can.” Shettima acknowledged the bureau’s ongoing reforms, especially its digitisation efforts, saying the agency must adapt to changing global realities. “There is no need for public officials thronging your offices trying to fill forms. “And you can take them to task since it has been digitised. You expect everyone to play by the rules.” Earlier, Bello thanked President Bola Tinubu for increased budgetary allocation to the bureau. He said the bureau had implemented several reforms, including the digitisation of its processes. Bello assured that the bureau would sustain the anti-corruption fight for the betterment of the country.
