At the Maaliya Livestock Market in Nasarawa state, known as one of the country’s major livestock trading centers due to its proximity to the capital Abuja, cattle, sheep and goats brought from different states are being offered for sale. The market has been bustling since the early morning hours ahead of Eid al-Adha, with tough bargaining between buyers and sellers. Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the most important Islamic holidays, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. Muslims mark the occasion with prayer, feasting, and acts of charity.
