The LEGO version Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear Megacar tackled the famous Goodwood hill climb in reverse. According to the companies, it reached a top speed of 111km/h, making it the fastest drivable LEGO car ever. It was driven by Koenigsegg test driver Markus Lundh, who set the hill climb record in the real Sadair's Spear during the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Lundh, said: "Getting the chance to take the driver's seat of this life-size LEGO Technic build was an incredible privilege. It really did feel like I was handling a real Koenigsegg, bringing back memories of setting the speed record at Goodwood in the Sadair's Spear in July 2025. It was awesome to set another record on this iconic course - a true testament to the level of engineering the LEGO Technic team has achieved.” The life-size vehicle was built using 327,906 LEGO elements and weighs approximately 1,800kg, including around 400kg of LEGO components. The project required more than 9,400 hours of development and construction. Among its features are a lightweight body constructed entirely from LEGO Technic elements, a functioning Ghost Mode system and a working replica of the Koenigsegg key, designed to mirror the functionality of the real vehicle. The feat marks a new collaboration between the Danish toy brand and the Swedish hypercar manufacturer on a LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear set, the latest addition to the LEGO Technic Ultimate Car Concept Series, which is due to launch in July. Christian von Koenigsegg, chief executive of Koenigsegg, said: "Innovation and extreme performance are at the core of everything we do. To see the Sadair’s Spear recreated not only as a highly detailed 1:8 scale LEGO Technic model, but also as a full-scale, drivable vehicle, is truly remarkable. Our partnership with the LEGO Group demonstrates how a shared passion for engineering and creativity can result in something extraordinary." The LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear Megacar is the sixth model in the Ultimate Car Concept Series and contains 4,104 pieces. Designed for experienced builders, the set includes an authentic V8 piston engine, a functional nine-speed transmission, a Triplex suspension system and a rotating gear indicator disc that displays the selected gear. One of its most distinctive features is a working version of Koenigsegg's "Ghost Mode". Activating the function raises the rear clam, rotates the manufacturer's signature dihedral synchro-helix doors and front bonnet, and folds the mirrors, replicating the operation of the real-world megacar. Developed in close collaboration between LEGO Technic designers and Koenigsegg engineers, the model also includes working steering, a removable roof and a functioning drivetrain system featuring the V8 engine. Kasper Rene Hansen, Senior Model Designer at the LEGO Group, said: “Our ambition was to create the most advanced LEGO Technic build we’ve ever produced. Incorporating features such as a working Ghost Mode, a 9-speed sequential gearbox and the unique Triplex suspension system -all firsts for a Technic Ultimate model - pushed the boundaries of what’s possible. We hope this set captures the spirit and technical sophistication of the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear, while delivering a rewarding experience for builders. This set really embodies the philosophy of LEGO Technic - Build For Real!” The LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear Megacar (42232) will be available to LEGO Insiders from 1 July 2026 through an early access programme, before going on general sale on 4 July. The set will be priced at £399.99 in the UK.
