VARIOUS OF HEAVY TRAFFIC AS RESIDENTS FLEE SOUTHERN LEBANONSIDON, LEBANON - JUNE 19: Residents fled southern Lebanon toward the north as Israeli airstrikes continued, with heavy traffic reported on the coastal highway in Sidon on Friday, June 19. Many residents were seeking safer locations amid concerns over continued attacks in southern parts of the country. The strikes marked the deadliest escalation since the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding by U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday. The agreement aims to support negotiations intended to end hostilities involving the United States, Israel and Iran, including attacks affecting Lebanon. Under the memorandum, Washington and Tehran are expected to hold negotiations for 60 days, with the possibility of an extension, in an effort to reach a final agreement on Iran's nuclear program and international sanctions. According to official Lebanese figures, Israel's military campaign in Lebanon since March 2 has killed 3,912 people, injured 11,873 others and displaced more than one million residents.
