SHOTLIST: JERUSALEM (MAY 14, 2026) 1. VARIOUS OF QUIET STREETS IN OLD CITY OF EAST JERUSALEM / CLOSED SHOPS IN OLD CITYJERUSALEM - MAY 14: Israeli authorities closed businesses in occupied East Jerusalem’s Old City on Thursday, May 14, ahead of controversial “flag march” planned by far-right Israeli groups. Quiet streets and shuttered shops were visible across Old City area as access remained restricted due to security measures. According to Palestinian news agency WAFA, Jerusalem Governorate said Israeli authorities instructed merchants in Old City and surrounding areas to close their businesses from noon local time. The closures coincided with annual flag march marking what Israelis describe as reunification of Jerusalem following Israel’s capture of East Jerusalem in 1967. Earlier in day, groups of Israeli settlers entered Al-Aqsa Mosque compound before march, according to Palestinian sources and videos circulated by far-right groups. According to Israeli media reports, around 50,000 Israelis are expected to take part in the march through Palestinian neighborhoods in occupied East Jerusalem. Israel occupied East Jerusalem, where Al-Aqsa is located, during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. It annexed the entire city in 1980 in a move never recognized by the international community.
