Various of ships at sea Storyline The Navy of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) is raising its combat readiness,and has gained full control over the Strait of Hormuz, the IRGC said in a social media post on Sunday. The IRGC said in the post that any U.S. vessel attempting to re-enter the Persian Gulf or interfere with Iranian ships will be sunk, adding that the only safe passages through the Strait of Hormuz are the routes designated and announced by the IRGC Navy. Iran's Fars News Agency, citing an informed source, reported that the Strait of Hormuz is currently "still closed", and ships passing through unsafe passages will face the risk of accidents. Tehran tightened its grip on the strait after the United States and Israel launched joint strikes against Iran on Feb 28. The U.S. military launched multiple waves of strikes against Iranian targets last month, saying they were in response to Iranian attacks on vessels in the strait and aimed at "degrading Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping." Iran responded with missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. military bases and facilities in the region.
