The jobs picture just got an update. Last week, the economy added only 22,000 positions
0:06
and now the Bureau of Labor Statistics says March 2025 actually had 911,000 fewer jobs than previously reported

The correction centers around two main sources. Some businesses reported fewer jobs on state
0:23
records than on the monthly survey, and some did not respond to the survey, which can skew
0:28
early numbers. By industry, trade, transportation, and utilities lost 226,000 jobs. Manufacturing
0:36
jobs fell 95,000, and leisure and hospitality dropped 176,000. Job numbers are always subject
0:45
to revision. The BLS bases monthly figures on surveys of about 121,000 businesses, but state
0:52
payroll records provide a more complete picture, but that data doesn't show up until weeks later
0:58
Annual benchmark revisions align these sources to give a more accurate view of the labor market

Final and official revisions for this year will be published in February of 2026
