Well, they're all here. They're all working hard. I think, you know, to begin with in spring
0:06
when you're coming into a new system, new coaches, you know, I'm just evaluating, assessing
0:12
trying to help these guys learn a whole new different toolbox than they're accustomed to
0:18
I think they're exceptional hard workers. That's great. You know, that's a good start for us
0:24
But then how it plays out, I think we'll wait. I'll kind of be a little bit more reserved on
0:28
my judgment until we get into training camp and we get a chance to see him in the preseason
0:33
when the live bullets start flying. But right now, it's all positive
0:37
The guys are working hard. They're learning some new sets, different angles, different strikes, things of that nature
0:43
that can help their game. I'm overwhelmed that he got the job
0:47
It's beyond anything that I've ever imagined for him. I just remember times when he was a teenager going to training camp with us when I was
0:57
with the Raiders. You know, he'd stay for weeks with us, and he'd be thrown with Jerry Rice
1:02
He'll be out there with Rich Gannon, you know. I had never thought that this would come to this juncture where he's at right now
1:08
But, yeah, I'm incredibly proud of what he's done. Of course, all my children, I'm proud of them
1:13
But, you know, the steps that he's taken to do it on his own, you know
1:17
it was his own path, his own journey. So, yeah, he was earned, you know, and he was completely dedicated to
1:24
and driven to do this. So proud of him and so excited for him as well
1:29
How similar or how different? Nick would have been coaching style-wise, and how is it good
1:35
and how is it maybe not good? Similarly, no, he's his own person, and I'm my own person for these years
1:44
What's interesting is that, you know, he knows what I'm like because of all the shared experiences
1:50
When you go back in time and you think about how we've communicated
1:54
through wins and losses just you know as a son and a dad you know and all those experiences that he had in high school and in college and all the years of pro football you know talking to him on the phone seeing him when we get together each summer
2:09
It's, I think it's seamless. You know, the transition has been for me when I walked in here
2:15
It was very natural and it was very comfortable. So I think, yeah, real positive in that regard
2:21
What do you see in Sadiq Charles? I would tell you in years and years to come, I think Brian's put together an exceptional staff
2:27
You know, you look at Denard, you look at some of the coaches on the staff that have come up through the ranks from being QCs to where they're currently at now
2:37
It's exceptionally smart, bright, you know, intellectually driven staff, which is fun
2:42
So the room is great, you know, it keeps me young, you know, so when I'm in there, those guys, they're always bouncing ideas off or sharing stories of their experiences
2:50
So that's been positive. But going back to Nick, I think he's going to be a star in this league
2:57
I think the future is really bright for him. And for him and Brian to be back together again, that's another unique situation
3:05
They both played together in high school, and they followed each other in college
3:09
and kept their friendship alive for all these years. So this speaks to both their characters
3:14
You guys have to talk about things, work things out. Oh, that was really interesting
3:18
because a year ago he was interviewing around the league, and I didn't think I was going to do that
3:23
I wasn't going to go with him at the time. We had long discussions about that
3:27
but this year was a little bit different when he got the job. I just felt compelled to help him
3:33
I felt that at this juncture in my career, God willing, how many years I got left
3:38
but I just wanted to really help him. I wanted to help the Titans, help him succeed
3:44
and it really was kind of a no-brainer in that regard. So it's family and I want to see him succeed just like any parent wants to see their children succeed
3:52
So it's rare, it's unique. And so, yeah, I'm fired up about it
3:57
What was it about that line but for Will Levis as well Yeah it great to have Lloyd here The thing that strikes me about Lloyd is you know he a guy who could have gone anywhere you know And of course I happy that he got paid you know and deservingly so
4:11
But he wanted to be with a team that can improve his game, and he wants to be great. And, you know, that really struck me that the game goes deeper than the wallet for him, you know
4:20
And he has a tremendous passion, curiosity, and intellect that goes beyond anything
4:26
So he's great for our room, super for the team in terms of running the show up front
4:31
And he has a dynamic presence about him, you know, that'll, you know
4:35
obviously help all the younger players come along in time. What was it about? Yeah, I think, I think first off, you know, the physicality is non-negotiable
4:44
And I think that's already in their DNA here. I've always felt that when I, oh, excuse me, somebody's camera's up
4:50
Okay. Or microphone. I think that the physicality of their play is always important
4:59
And that's kind of in the DNA, like I mentioned, you know. So that part of playing hard, playing with tempo, being physical has always been there, you know, for these kids
5:09
It's a matter of tweaking techniques, giving them a couple different tools in terms of schemes, hands, things of that nature
5:16
Just trying to build them up, build them a different toolbox. What do you see from Lloyd Cushenberry and how beneficial he is
5:22
the biggest challenges and kind of what makes him think J.C. is a good guy in terms of being a good guy
5:26
Yeah, I think, number one, his athleticism. And then, of course, all the measurable traits that he has
5:32
And then you add in size, power, strength. And it adds up to making that move
5:39
Very similar in my experience at Dallas when I had Tyron Smith when I came into the Cowboys
5:46
He was a right tackle in college. He was a right tackle his rookie year
5:50
And we flipped him over. And I think that worked out pretty well. And then Jedrick Wills, when he was drafted out of Alabama for the Browns
5:57
was a right tackle in college. We flipped him Another guy in my past was Barry Sims from the Raiders You know he was a tackle out of Utah who we found in the World League at that time which no longer exists but he ended up
6:11
making that switch to left tackle as well. So I think if you have the athleticism, you know
6:15
and you have strength, I think, and you have the muscle memory to, you know, change some skill sets
6:20
I think that's doable. You have any doubts about his ability to do it? I don't
6:24
What do you see in the right? I guess just right out of the gate, what's it like being here and
6:29
how things going right out of the gate? Yeah, it's just been a lot of fun
6:33
The transition to Nashville and to the Titans, it's interesting. This is a team that I felt I know pretty well in my history
6:43
It's great to be here with Brian, my son, and this staff that Brian's put together
6:48
It's exciting, it's an exciting time. So yeah, everything's been very positive so far
6:53
We haven't played a game yet, so we're undefeated. It's a lot of fun. The transition to Nashville and to the Titans, it's interesting

That'll happen
